ARCHIVED Could This Be The Answer To My Mysterious Illness
eatmeat4good replied to melissa222's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know how excited you must feel. It was an epiphany for me to find this site too. You are on to something and don't forget it..just in case the tests come back negative. You can still be intolerant or Celiac even if you do not test positive. The tests are unrealiable...not to discourage you from testing...but to have you keep in mind in case you test... -
ARCHIVED Blood Test Negative
eatmeat4good replied to Dreamer80's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You probably DID figure it out..it's just that the tests have not caught up with all of us yet. They are not very reliable. You certainly can still have Celiac and have tested negative. There are many here with the same situation. They just decide to go gluten free. If you give it a good strict try for several months you will know. The tests are inconsistent... -
ARCHIVED How Many Have Gi Symptoms With Dh
eatmeat4good replied to Flasaltwater's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have gastrointestinal problems and DH in addition to neurological problems when glutened. The neurological is brain fog, anxiety, depression in the form of despair, and sometimes uncoordination and balance issues. DH breaks out first then my stomach and guts go rolling and then I feel like a zombie stoned on gluten...just from trace gluten. god...don't... -
ARCHIVED Could It Be Celiac?
eatmeat4good replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You very likely could have Celiac. The tests are inconsistent in terms of being able to positively diagnose Celiac. Many test negative but really have Celiac....it isn't until seriously significant damage has been done to your small intestine that they can test positive in the biopsy. sometimes damage is patchy and that means if they take the biopsy from... -
ARCHIVED Really Bad
eatmeat4good replied to gluten free overseas's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
God, I hate that feeling of going downhill when you know you have been glutened. I wish I only had the gastrointestinal problems, but I have full on neurological problems...anxiety and despair set in and it seems it will never go away. It is horrifying. I know what you are going through. Sorry you have to go through it. I was lost completely when Dr.'s said... -
As for your sores appearing after going gluten free, there are many posts in the archives of the DH section where the same thing happened to others. Why is a mystery, but may have something to do with increased sensitivity to gluten -once it has been thoroughly eliminated we tend to have stronger reactions to it and the auto-immune response is a cascade not...

You can use uniodized salt freely. And you may have to experiment to see if the Dapsone allows you to consume more iodine. I use a multi vitamin only..without minerals..the minerals I supplement separately. Prickly Pear found a multi without iodine and it was posted here recently. If you do a search you may come up with it or you can PM her and find...

ARCHIVED Considering Putting Baby On Gluten-Free Diet - Am I Paranoid?
eatmeat4good replied to Ollie's Mom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Of course you can put your baby on the gluten free diet. You have already seen improvements for him and you know how much relief you had. Some will tell you to pursue testing. Others will say he is not likely to test positive being so young. But as a mother I think you get to decide what your child eats. It is amazing that you have the opportunity for him... -
ARCHIVED New To Gluten Free Living
eatmeat4good replied to mo.a21's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I wasn't diagnosed either. Whether you get tested or not is really up to you. I was sick and dizzy for 7 years and tried to get a diagnosis. When I read about Celiac...I just knew it was right for me. Within 2 weeks I knew I was right. So there was NO WAY I was going to go back on gluten to get tested. I got extremely ill from cross contamination or... -
ARCHIVED White Blood Count
eatmeat4good replied to Nen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know if that is related. At my 6 month blood tests...the Dr. commented that there seemed to be a lot of "very young red blood cells" he raised his eyebrows and said hmm...not sure what to make of that. I decided not to worry and that my body was making up for lost time and replenishing the red blood cells. It was interesting...I told that to the... -
ARCHIVED White Blood Count
eatmeat4good replied to Nen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have read that the white count can be elevated due to the auto-immune system trying to fight what it thinks is an infection...when it is really reacting to gluten... I have also read that the white count can be low due to the malnutrition that comes from long term undiagnosed Celiac...your body can't produce enough white cells to keep you protected. My... -
I've read that Dapsone can cause anemia...usually blood tests are done to watch for it in the beginning of treatment. If you feel weakness, fatigue or muscle problems certainly let your Dr. know. I was on it for two weeks and had a horrible reaction...little red hot pinpoint like rash all over...it lasted several days. I stopped Dapsone immediately. I'm one...

ARCHIVED Anyone Have Experience With Those Expensive Cage Free Eggs With Omega 3 And Rash
eatmeat4good replied to Flasaltwater's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Oh my god, I never understood why my DH reacted to eggs....just figured I was also allergic to egg. The iodine content makes sense. Thanks you guys! -
My son got those bite looking welts on his lower legs...they looked like mosquito bites...multitudes of them even when it wasn't mosquito season. Dr. never made anything of them except told us to use cortisone cream. However, they went away and have never come back since he went gluten free. It could be a variation of DH...that is what I suspected too. If...

ARCHIVED Applesauce Good For D?
eatmeat4good replied to chrissygirlca's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Fructose malabsorption is what I was going to mention as I read your title...Applesauce never worked for me when I had D. Simple meat and veg diet...well cooked...helped me. -
ARCHIVED Gluten In Air
eatmeat4good replied to jjchenoa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes that is easily possible to breathe in gluten from flour in the air and it hits the mucous membranes and on to the stomach. I entered a new store the other day...turned right...and there I was...in the bakery....the fridge for gluten free bread was in the middle of the bakery...I held my breath. I don't know if it means you are super sensitive or not... -
ARCHIVED Confused And Overwhelmed
eatmeat4good replied to hmseyer21's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've seen posts in the archives here that keratosis pilaris cleared up on the gluten free diet...but I don't know how it is related...only that there are many skin conditions associated with gluten and Celiac...not just DH. Although cross contamination and trace gluten are overwhelming to think about that might be why you cleared up for the first days of... -
ARCHIVED Confused And Overwhelmed
eatmeat4good replied to hmseyer21's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Withdrawal got me for a bit longer...like probably 3 weeks...but it's because I refused to give up dairy. Even though I read that it is usually a problem, without wheat I felt that cheese and corn tortilla's were the only foods left on earth...so I had problems until I realized that yes, I too, could not eat dairy. I still did it. Cottage cheese and yogurt... -
ARCHIVED Confused And Overwhelmed
eatmeat4good replied to hmseyer21's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Gluten can make you have a lot of the symptoms you have that cause you to say you had trouble coping. It can cause depression, anxiety, weight gain, messed up metabolism and Hashimoto's. You are likely experiencing withdrawal from gluten. I have Hashimoto's and DH (Dermatitis Herpetiformis) the skin form of Celiac, and a lot of neurological problems directly... -
ARCHIVED Unscented Deodorent
eatmeat4good replied to ejitt00's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Good Iodine Free Multivitamin/mineral
eatmeat4good replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Excellent! Thank you! -
ARCHIVED Purple/red Scars After 2 Months- Do They Fade Away Eventually?
eatmeat4good replied to lagrangecalv's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
They do fade...mine faded all the way to pure white. No pigmentation at all. I had to cover the purple with make-up...now I cover the de-pigmented white spots with make-up. It's pretty common for the DH lesions to result in de-pigmented skin. -
ARCHIVED Pity Party/ College Search
eatmeat4good replied to ryebaby0's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Brilliant Nicole! I will be facing this in 2 years with my son. Thank you for that information. And to Ryebabyo-- That was no whine... It was a very informative statement on the bass ackwardness of colleges to recognize or understand the severity of food intolerances or the dangers of gluten for Celiacs. In the next 100 years they will be forced to... -
ARCHIVED Too Old For A Diagnosis?
eatmeat4good replied to Finally-45's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm right there with you. I'm 48. Grieving the past and living for the first time. It's bittersweet. But some days it's only SWEET! I did it! Took me until 47, but I finally figured out what was making us sick for so long and without any support or help from those 25 Dr.'s I took us to. His life will be so much different/better than mine was. I feel... -
ARCHIVED Still Here, Still Confused
eatmeat4good replied to shoequeen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Very typical of Celiac testing... Only sometimes diagnostic. You get better when you eliminate gluten. You get worse when you eat gluten. Dietary elimination and challenge is 100% diagnostic whether you call it Celiac or Gluten Intolerance.
