  1. I have tried eating the gluten free Rice Chex with no luck . I used almond milk with it. I even tried eating the cereal dry to see if it was the almond milk - same reaction - upset stomach - diarrhea. Are there any cold cereal gluten free alternatives that are easier to digest? Thanks!
  2. From what I have been reading about fungus infections - DH seems very simlar. Is it considered more a fungus infection rather than psoriasis?
  3. My nutrionist recommended the Probiotic, Sustenex as a good one to use. I had recently been using Align but found it not very effective. The nutionist said she thought Align was a week probiotic so she recommended Sustenex. Has anyone used this probiotic, and if so - what are your thoughts?
  4. you may have developed a night shade sensitivity (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers). I cannot eat any gluten free potatoe products. Try eating a baked potatoe with nothing on it and see if you react to it. If so, then it is an intolerance.

Thanks Mushroom - that makes a lot of sense!

    ARCHIVED Does Anyone Feel Good

What she did mention was that this applied after being cleared of any other type of gastrointestinal disorder which would include leaky gut. I know for myself, I have lost over 15 lbs - now putting me at 101 lbs all dressed with shoes. I have stopped eating vegetables and red meat. The only fruit I can abide by is a 1/2 banana daily. I live on baked fish...

    ARCHIVED Does Anyone Feel Good

Yesterday I went to the Gastroenterolist and spoke with the nutritionist there. I had told her I have so many sensitivities now - that I was not sure what to eat anymore. When she asked me what my reactions were to those foods - I told her most of the time cramping, bloatedness, diarrhea. Now she said something I totally would not expect and that is to...
  8. I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one. How many times have you read on the forum that those who have a gluten intolerance and gave up gluten are really feeling better? Or how many times have we read that once gluten is given up, other sensitivities (dairy, nightshades, sugar, starches) have become prevalent that were not there before? And...
  9. Seriously - I am going to answer this question with no holds barred: I think many who self-diagnose really do not know for sure what they have because many of the symptoms your read about celiac can be symptoms of other serious gastro intestinal illnesses: I have read that many who have severe IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) may be told to avoid many...
  10. I am grateful I can eat egg whites! I, like you, can no longer eat eggs - but I can eat egg whites that are fried with a bit of Pam in the pan. I do not like the egg whites in the container. Instead, we get high grade eggs and separate the whites from the yolk - and the taste is really good! My husband argued with me that there is no nutritional value...
  11. I have been feeling terrible since September of 2010 - and I have tried playing detective - trying to figure out what foods I should avoid - some I have found - others I am still in the dark.... My poor husband has no idea what I can and cannot eat - we no longer go out to restaurants - because I am afraid to try something that may or may not make me sick...
  12. From Ft. Lauderdale area here
  13. I have been reading a book about digestive disorders and one of the foods to avoid is sweet potatoes due to high fructose. The book is very interesting and informative called Why Doesn't My Doctor Know This? It covers IBS, Crohns and Colitis as well as Celiac. Fructose malabsorbtion is also seen in IBD, Crohns and Colitis.
  14. 5'1-1/2" and probably will be shrinking at some point.....
  15. Tell me more - where do you buy these? never saw them!
  16. Since I have stopped eating gluten, I no longer get bloated after eating but that is because I now am moving my bowels every day. I have IBS Alternating. I used to be very constipated all the time - and then I would be very bloated. But once I gave up gluten - my entire system made a 360 degree turn. But I also seem to eat a lot less starch now - and...
  17. I guess when you have a lot of sensitivities - cravings begin to stop - because knowing the result of eating a food that does not agree with you - does not constitute a good thing. I had wanted to lose weight before this started - funny - now I want to gain some back! I guess your outlook changes when you cannot eat everything you did before and instead...
  18. I do it the easy way too - write it down in a notebook. One column is Foods I Ate and the Other is Feelings when I ate the food. I don't write reactions - because sometimes a reaction won't show up for a few days. I also keep a daily log of bowel movements - how many, consistency, etc. to give me an idea of what I might have ate the day before or a few...
  19. thanks so much - for the menus and suggestions. I have been trying to do an elimination diet - and trust me - when I try and reintroduce - sometimes I wonder if the pain is worth it? But I do think I have come upon one item so far that I thought was safe (it is gluten free) but wow, how it has affected my digestion. It is Back to Nature Gluten Free...
  20. Do any of you use digestive enzymes bought over the counter - or would it be better to have a prescription from a gastroenterologist? Those who do buy over the counter - which ones do you prefer and the approximate cost would be appreciated.... Thanks!
  21. thanks so much for your help. I don't know what's going on - I do think I have these sensitivities en masse due to probably inflammation causing leaky gut - which does not want to heal - who knows maybe it is colitis - I am going to schedule a colonoscopy and maybe an endoscopy as well. I have been off gluten for about a month - but my symptoms are not...
  22. Ok - I realize that many of us are having issues with food sensitivities over and above having gluten issues. Such foods are: Soy, chocolate, eggs, dairy, red meat, fructose, grains, nightshade vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, etc.), gas producing vegetables (brocolli, califlower, etc.), nuts, apples and pears (due to high fructose), corn items...
  23. I am not really sure what I should be doing toward healing and repair except diet - any suggestions?
  24. After I had a very bad bout of IBS or it might have been food poisoning or a gastrointestinal virus (my doctor could never figure out which after countless bloodwork and stool samples), I developed fructose intolerance - before that - I could eat anything (including gluten) and not get sick. Whatever that was I had, it triggered all the recent problems....
