  1. I talked to my doc about it, she said "you're probably just growing" but she sent me to a cardiologist, who diagnosed me with orthostatic hypotension(low blood pressure that worsens with change of body position). A few months later I went back to the cardiologist becuz I feel dizzy and lightheaded a lot and was having chest pain. The cardiologist said "oh...
  2. In America, Smarties are powdery sugary colored candies. In Canada, Smarties are chocolate candies similar to our M &ms. And that kind, the Smarties like the ones in Canada, are not gluten free. What we call smarties, they call rockets.
  3. Hi all. I have been gluten free for a year and 6 months. At first I missed gluten so much that I craved sugar a LOT and was eating like 2 candy bars everyday ( I know that's terrible!) and also I have to eat lots of salt for another condition I have so my doc said to eat lots of salty chips and pretzels. I did, and I didn't think anything about how unhealthy...
  4. Thank you all for your advice I try not to care but I see them atleast 3 or 4 times a week and just the constant rude comments get to me after awhile. I will try to not let it bother me:) but that's what this forum is for, getting help and advice and just venting when you need to right?
  5. Well I guess I'm just here to vent about something that happened yesterday. Ive been told already that I should get new friends and that I should find a new church. I have made new friends, but I don't want to leave my church, and I have a few good friends so we're all good there. Just need to vent! Yesterday, the teens at our church got together for some...
  6. Ok, I am back from my trip! I made many precautions to make sure I wouldn't get glutened! I found out on this trip that the reason everyone had been talking about glutening my food lately is because my sister put flour in my pasta sauce a year ago, but I just found out now! I was so upset. My sister told me this, and then one of my friends said "I dont think...
  7. I've never laughed thinking about celiac til I watched this! Lol that was awesome!
  8. I have been gluten free for about a year and 5 months. Through the past year, I have had some gluten free foods that I LOVE and would eat for awhile, but then one time I would go to the store and just looking at the package makes me nauseated to think of eating it! and then i can't seem to brIng myself to eat that food ever again! This has happened with Chex...
  9. I have celiac, oral allergy syndrome, and am lactose intolerant. You CAN do it! Eating gluten on the weekends is going to slowly kill you. You have to eat gluten free, no cheating!!! it will get easier as you go along, and in time you will be able to accept that you can't eat those foods. For now, stay strong and know it will get better!
  10. Advil is not gluten free! The target brand says gluten free on the bottle and I have called to confirm about no CC. Same wIth many of the Walgreens medications but you would have to call on their ibuprofen, not sure.
  11. Not eating will just make you malnutritioned. Have you tried tums? Also when im bloated, I find that taking a nice hot bath usually helps....I know that sounds weird but those are the two things that work for me! hope you feel better soon! : D
  12. Reeses, Hershey bars, 3 musketeers, snickers, lifesavers, sour patch, Swedish fish, all gluten free! Oscar Meyer is made by Kraft and has many lunch meats, just read the label to make sure no gluten is listed. If no gluten is listed, it's gluten free! All Pepsi products are gluten free. Coke is gluten free. Peeps. On the Border, utz tortilla chips,...
  13. And I had talked to my parents before, they helped me take care of it. I haven't talked to them recently about the kids talking about glutening my food. Sorry I didn't intentionally ignore the question!
  14. Tonight at church I plan on talking to my youth pastor. I feel like I'm making a big deal out of nothing, what I'd they weren't really going to put gluten in my food but just talked about it?! I mean of course I can't know if they're serious or not. But if they aren't it's all going to fall back on me like " look there's victoria trying to get attention and...
  15. Jesus wouldn't make you eat something if it destroyed your body! I don't eat the cracker when we have the Lords supper, and everyone knows its because I have celiac not because I'm rebelling against the Lord! Do what's safe for you. God gave you celiac, He isn't going to punish you for not eating the wafer! good luck hope you feel better!
  16. I don't wish to leave my youth group, or get anyone kicked out or sue my youth pastor! Lol And I most definitely don't want to give Christians a bad name.....they aren't doing it because they are a Christian, they just happen to be Christians who are doing it....thank you all for your support and advice! To the peanut allergy thing....I actually have a friend...
  17. Both Burt's bees and Chap Stick brands may be cross contaminated, don't use them. However the whole Soft lips brand is gluten free, their whole factory is gluten free.
  18. That's a good idea! How do you seal your food? And thank you Bartfull. You're right, I shouldn't be calling them my friends. I have one friend who always sticks up for me, always tries my food and says good things about it, she doesn't make fun of me. I have one other friend who believes me and understands. The rest, you're right, they kind of follow this...
  19. Yes, I'm a teenager! I did post about my friends being rude to me about celiac before, it was actually about this same trip last year. But they have never actually threatened or talked about putting gluten in my food! I am scared. But it's my last year to be able to go and I have a friend who said she'll watch out for me to make sure noone will do it. But...
  20. So I have some friends, who don't quite understand Celiac. The other day they were eating cake for a party and one of my friends said " If I were you, I would break eating gluten free just to eat this cake." I said, "NO you wouldnt', if you had celiac, you would understand the consequences of eating that piece of cake!". My other friend said "Yeah, right...
  21. Thank you, it is hard to act mature sometimes when they treat me like this! lol Good idea about talking to my youth pastor. You're right, I don't want to make a big deal out of it...I wish I could just bring my own meal with me to things and have noone make any comments at all and pretend I was eating what they're eating! Sadly, it is not that way,...
  22. Well my church is going on a missions trip to Africa, specifically to Zambia, this November. I am really worried, as I have no idea how this is going to even work. We will be staying at a mission house but since it is a mission house, we will most likely be taking trips out to "the bush" or where the poorer people live. I won't be able to just make a...
  23. Amen, Amen, Amen! I totally agree with your letter! I have written so many of those in my head it's not even funny. Musta felt really great to get that all out of your system! Maybe when I go to bed tonight I'll write out my own hate letter to gluten! haha
  24. Wow I am so sorry that your family treats you like that! My family understands...so I am blessed for that! Maybe I should clarify something...these people aren't really my friends...more like my peers. People who are here that I see a lot that I have to get along with somehow. So thank you everyone for your advice about getting new friends. I used the...
  25. Thank you all for your help and suggestions! Sometimes I feel like it is my fault, but what can I do about it? There is no cure for Celiac. One of my "friends" said "Oh, well you're just so weird. Not because YOU are weird, but because the Celiac makes you weird." That sure confuses me. Got a question...do you all think that drinking out of someone...
