  1. Hmmm I guess that makes a lot of sense! Thanks:)
  2. I'm graduating from high school tomorrow! Yay! Thankfully my parents bought md gluten free food that looks like what everyone else is eating. Which is what I'm trying to work on. As some of you may know, I have trouble with people understanding/believing me about celiac at my church. Specifically the teens. I got into yet another argument about it with...
  3. If you have celiac, you can't eat gluten, period! You must ALWAYS be on guard and make sure what you are eating is not CCed! With the right planning and preparation, you can travel anywhere and eat gluten free. It may cost you more time in preparing, searching for things to bring with you, and doing research. but just bring your own food that won't perish...
  4. To my amazing friends! The ones who hugged me when I was sick and never felt better. The ones who patiently listened when I called them to tell them I found out the answer to my sickness, and spoke comforting words as I cried. To the ones who give me strength to keep on going, even when the gluten-free road gets rough. To the ones who encourage...

  6. What a great analogy! I love that story:) Reading your post made me cry! I'm glad you don't tell your daughter to suck it up. My mom doesn't tell me that either. Sometimes, encouragement doesn't mean you have to pretend everything is ok (when it's not!), but rather it's telling each other that we can get through this, we can help eac other, we can be an...
  7. Does Avon have any gluten free makeup/cosmetics?
  8. Please, don't get worried! It will all be fine! How old is your son, a young child or a teenager? Does he take care to make sure he eats safely or does he eat gluten when not with you?
  9. "glutenated" LOVE that! Lol that's one I haven't heard before!
  10. First, it probably won't be very safe for him to eat any of the food prepared at the camp.CC is wayyy too risky, atleast it would be for me. Maybe it would be safer to send all his food? Second, you will be able to pack his weeks worth of food just fine! I've travelled to Africa and Canada, and gone to many youth camps in just the past year and a half...
  11. When I posted a topic awhile ago saying that I accidentally ate oats and it gave me GI symptoms, people replied and said that if oats do bother me, they will damage md like gluten. Now I'm confused? Can anyone clarify?
  12. Oh yes, I'm not trying to bash anyone. I know it's hard for a lot of celiacs. It really takes a lot of research and basically time to figure out the lifestyle. But this kid knows it damages him, and he willingly ate the cake and gluten without even flinching. Like I said, I feel bad for him, knowing that hes being damaged very badly. But for those who...
  13. I live in Connecticut and ate there from their gluten free menu quite often back in 2010. Never got sick from them. But it's far away from me so I choose 5 guys now. But anyone who lives in Ct, we've got plenty of Red robins!
  14. I went to one of my friends graduation parties today. I only knew like 3 people there all of whom totally trust and understand the way I have to eat. They believe me and know how celiacs need to eat. But as we were eating there was a kid who didn't have a bun on his burger so we started wondering if he had celiac/NCGI. But of course I don't eat things other...
  15. I accidentally tried oats when I ate some cinnamon cookies and later found out they had oats. I did have a reaction but for me it was not as bad as with other gluten reactions. Most doctors recommend waiting atleast a year before you try oats. Like she said, the only way to know is if you try them.
  16. I'm so sorry! I will pray for you and I hope that this child will get well soon
  17. Hmmm....that's interesting. I am not sure what to think now because I called the ADA and they said that a celiac has the legal right to bring in their own food. Let me call backand try to be more specific!
  18. But the law says that restaurants must change their regulations to meet the needs of those with disabilities!
  19. I've been gluten fee for a year and 8 mOnths and maybe feel a little bit better. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just going to feel sick for life! but from what I've read on here, most people feel better within a few months. Good luck!
  20. Of course it is best just to sneak in your food and hope no one notices. That's what I do. But in certain cases like if you're going to be thrown out of a restaurant, you can tell them about the Americans with Disabilities Act. I almost got thrown out of a restaurant the other day. So if the manager actually did come out and tell me to leave, I legally can...
  21. I am allergic to latex, actually! What are nitrile gloves and where can you find them?
  22. I know how you feel. I've adjusted to where most of the time I'm pretty positive about my diet. But every so often I'll get a week where I feel so angry and upset, missing how life used to be, feeling like I want to just curl up in a ball and cry. basically, I have a pity party. And after all I've been through in my short life, I think once in awhile I deserve...
  23. Thank you both for your replies! Does anyone have a good recipe for gluten free playdough? And the little guy loves to help cook, what are some things I can make with him? I obviously can't do baking. (well atleast glutenous baking) The parents are very understanding and always ask "can you do this" or "can you make this" before asking me to do anything...
  24. My level is 9. I take 5000 IU a day.
  25. Hey there! I'm not actually a parent myself but thought maybe you moms could help me. I've been babysitting two little boys, aged 2 and 1. They love eating sandwiches, Mac and cheese, and all kinds of gluten filled foods, which of course I prepare for them. I will be starting a nannying job for them , 40 hours a week. They also love playing with play dough...
