ARCHIVED Easy To Eat Healthy In Costa Rica
etta694 replied to sick&tired's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
One way I did it... don't know how accurate it is.. was to type it onto google and then ask for a translation in the language of choice. Perhaps it isn't the best but it went with my friend to Mexico. They had a wonderful gluten free time. -

ARCHIVED Did You Have A Trigger That Started Your Symptoms?
etta694 replied to afreeclimber74's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had a trigger similiar too. I had been struggling with exhaustion and other symptoms for years (with no help from drs)then I got a parasite from crabs legs that I didn't cook enough so that was a strong medication and then I got a bad infection and was on antibiotics (3 rounds of them). After that my insides shut down totally and I got very sick. I was... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Substitute For Cheerios?
etta694 replied to StephanieSD's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Nature's Path has some very nice cereals. Their 'cheerios' taste good..but, of course, not like wheat.. more like toasted rice. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED A Few Things I Have Learned While Dining Out
etta694 replied to Rowena's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Isn't eating out fun... and full of surprises.. sigh.. I tend to just not go out. I haven't been out since January. (thank you for that reminder of how to do it.. I haven't actually done that yet.) -
Corn goes through me whole too.. and it hasn't bothered me. It's true, it's hard to digest but normal to go through whole I think.

ARCHIVED Worried About A Friend
etta694 replied to Strawberry-Jam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You've got to know that, if eating out, you will encounter additives like msg. It seems to me I remember people talking about racing heart and msg.. Institutional food also... very bad for having additives in packaged quantities. I have the same concern for a couple of people I know.. people with symptoms which, to me, are very indicative of allergies... -

ARCHIVED How Many People Are Actually Self-diagnosed?
etta694 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
To read the forum over time... you will hear the underlying response by a majority of the medical profession to REAL symptoms that are debilitating. It is very frustrating to have doctors decide they absolutely know if you have something based on science that has not progressed far enough to test for all the indicators. Not unlike using fingerprint technology... -
ARCHIVED How Many People Are Actually Self-diagnosed?
etta694 replied to no-more-muffins's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When my dad first displayed Crohn's disease in the 50's, the doctor scoffed at him and told him there was no such thing... it was just a fancy name for irritation of the bowel. This is the pattern, unfortunately, for the medical profession. The new (and Celiac/Gluten problems are sure not new) problems fall through the cracks until it is more widely publicized... -
ARCHIVED My Little Curiosity Poll
etta694 replied to conniebky's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Instant feeling of unwellness..decending into GI lockdown.. nothing will move for about a week during which i feel like do-do and have grey circles around my eyes. Exhaustion, bloating, brain fog and IBS.. burning., possible headache and crankiness. But other than that... I feel fine (Sometimes it feels good just to have company in ma misery). I've... -

ARCHIVED Problems With Support Groups
etta694 replied to Wise's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Thank you!! That means a lot to me... you know, its hard to go through some things alone. It's much easier with wisdom and encouragement. This forum is downright awesome, I must say. Pip Pip!(IrishHeart.. you have a big heart~!) -
I also found aloe vera juice to be very excellent in knocking back my symptoms.. IF I stayed true to the diet. Like Lalama and IrishHeart said.. it's all about what you DON'T eat. I didn't know about coconut oil. That's a new one I want to try.

It could very well be that you need them. I really don't know brands but I go to the local health food store and get one with lots of bugs. I have Ultimate Flora by Renew Life 50 Billion but there are lots of good brands and that may not be available where you are. There must be others on the forum with their favorite but I just asked the health food guy...

zebaldwin, I feel your frustration! Are you sure that you are eliminating every source of gluten? No sunflower seeds that may have been bagged on the same line with a wheat product? It can be very tricky to get the gluten out. I did feel the Threelac helped (before it got out of control) but, of course, it wouldn't have ever dealt with the real problem...

ARCHIVED Constipation And Probiotics And Aloe Vera
etta694 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Help... there now maybe someone will come on this thread. I am wondering if any of you who suffer from C as a reaction to being glutened also suffer from very bad reactions to aloe vera and probiotics if you take them during an attack? I have had nasty reactions to both during 'gluten attacks'. I use to take both without problems before the onset of the... -
I will also say that a friend and I started taking Threelac at the same time. She never did go to the higher dose. We both took it for about a year... and we both became gluten intolerant at the same time... coincidence? I don't know. I have a theory but it's nothing I can prove. All I know is that I 'traumatized' my gut with a bacterial infection and...
-
That's (e.faecalis) the only bacterial strain that the articles talk about in relation to infections and cancer and it is only in Threelac. Every other probiotic has only 'normal' flora. Threelac has been developed by the Japanese and the bacteria were cultured specifically to attack candida. Other probiotics just compete and overwhelm candida, if you...

To be informed you may want to google E. Faecalis and cancer as well. "Bacteria called Enterococcus faecalis that live in human intestines may produce harmful chemicals that damage DNA and trigger gene activity linked to colon cancer, a U.S. study says. E. Faecalis, also known as Group D Streptococcus, is one of many normally harmless or beneficial kinds...

I have taken Threelac. Boy, have I taken Threelac. I started taking it and was on it for about a year, maybe a little longer. One thing I will tell you, it is not licensed for use in Canada or Australia and the reason is "Australia and Canada have issued warnings about the E. Faecalis bacteria and have disallowed entry of products that contain them because...
