    On the Tampa news last night, the words "gluten free" sure got my attention! The Tampa Bay Rays, our MLB team, was announcing all the new food treats available this season at Tropicana Field, and there will be gluten free hot dogs and MORE! Way to go, Rays!     My stepson is an Army Major with two Iraq deployments behind him. He is scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan this October. ENOUGH ALREADY! I don't like having our young men in harm's way. It's time to get have an anti-war demonstration. Prayers are aloft for all of them.

    I just got home from a followup visit with my cardiologist. I was hospitalized for five days for chest pains (I've had a heart attack before), and this is the 4th heart catheterization that I have had.     You can BOTH have a lot of fun on this new culinary adventure! My husband is not celiac, but he has become a Pamela's Cookies addict right along with me. He also LOVES the granola from The Bakery on Main. There are sooooo many wonderful gluten free foods out there! This is a fabulous opportunity to experience NEW and very tasty food! Enjoy!

    I am recently diagnosed, too. However, I am enjoying the adventure of new things to eat! Like Pamela's Dark Chocolate Cookies*. And Udi's breads and pizza crusts.     And while we're at it, what's with pharmacists? I wanted to find out if any of my Rx drugs had gluten and talked with the pharmacist at WalMart the other day. Told him I had Celiac and wanted it noted in his computer. He said "I've heard of Celiac, but what is it?" I gave him a 5 minute crash course. Keep educatin' 'em, gang!

    You bet it's a CYA statement! And I got one the other day when I called the manufacturer of my Pravastatin (generic RX to reduce cholesterol). I spent an hour on the phone being transferred FIVE TIMES! The final answer I got: "To the best of our knowledge, our Pravastatin is gluten free." Really? Probably made in China.     I take Members Mark Calcium with Vitamin D and Members Mark Super B Complex which is Sam's Club brand. They also got good marks from Consumer Reports. Says gluten free right on the bottle.

    I just spent four days in a regional hospital here in Florida and the Dietary Department has NO CLUE what gluten is! They claimed to serve me a "gluten free diet", but the first breakfast offered 2 pieces of whole WHEAT toast, a box of Rice Crispies which lists the 4 ingredient as "malt flavoring", etc., etc. They just got angry with me and insisted that...

    When my son was 29, he called me to ask if hemmis could be causing the blood in his stool. He is not celiac. I told him that hemmis could, but that he should DEFINITELY see a doctor. He made an appointment. The bleeding stopped in a few days, before he could see the doctor, and he was going to cancel the appointment. Just like him....he never got around to...

    I hate to say this, but I'm having fun discovering new favorites that are as good as/often better than my old faves! I was just diagnosed about a month ago, and while I'm guessing that I'm about 99% gluten free now, and feeling a bit better, I am having waaaaay too much fun trying all the gluten free stuff.     I was diagnosed 2 weeks ago by my new internist. She actually LISTENED to my loooooong history and immediately said "I'm going to test you for Celiac/Sprue." Came back positive and I am now on a gluten free adventure! Talk about being misdiagnosed for years? I will be 72 years old in a few weeks and have been sick much of my life!!!! Hindsight is...
