  1. Because I need to know if I have ceiiac disease and if it's responsible for all my symptons. If not, then I will need to due further testing to see what is wrong. I feel like I need to know in case it needs to be ruled out. It sounds like I should continue to wait. And even if the blood test is negative it might be worth it to still have the endoscopy...
  2. TSH levels are the oppostie.....HIGH levels indicate hypo (so hashimotos)....LOW levels = hyper (Graves). TSH stands for :Thyroid Stimilating Hormone....a high level means your body is producing a lot in order to stimulate your thryoid - it points to HYPO or Hashimotos. If it was LOW it would mean your body isn't producing this hormone b/c you already...
  3. So, I'm still waiting around to see the GI doc and my symptons this week have been worse since re-introducing gluten. I was gluten-free free for almost 3 weeks at the request of my doctor and then over a week ok re-introduced it so I could get tested. I am sick and tired of feeling this way, it is worth it for me to push my normal doc to just give...
  4. I'm C for the records - every 3 days about Is there a test to determine malabsorption...I have floating stools but my puffy face and lightheadedness/dizziness (despite balanced diet) is making me think it is all catching up with me.
  5. I am thinking that if I have celiac I may decide to not have kids. Not bc I dont want to pass it on to them b/c living gluten-free is possible, but bc I am concerned about the effect of pregancy on my body. I hear it's considered "stress" and can trigger other autoimmune diseases? I already had graves (in remission), and am almost positive I have celiac...
  6. I should mentioned I am in the process of being diagnosed with Celiacs...
  7. I'm having the same concerns. I am not confirmed celiac but have a history of autoimmune disease. I hear stress on the body can trigger autoimmune diseases. I always assumed it would be the same disease for me (that my graves would come back). I have not had kids yet and know that those with celiac can have kids (elisabeth hasselbeck being the most famous...
  8. But it took me months to get in to see him, so I am hoping I dont get in to see him, then have a follow up appt that takes another month to get into then another month after that....can't we move this along already? I called today to see if there were cancellations and he isn't open agian until May! So does that mean if follow up is needed it will have tow...
  9. This is without a doubt my frustration. I have been experiencing stomach issues for over 2 years. They started off mild but steadily increased. Then other "funny" symptons showed up. I have a history of autoimmune disease (graves). It's something I bring up in every appt. Last summer, my doc referred me to a GI guy, who blew me off, treated me like I...
  10. Hi! From reading this forum, it sounds as though not every doc (not even the "experts") understand the symptons, tests, etc for Celiac Disease. I know I am my best advocate. It has taken me so long to get on this Doc's schedule I am terrified of it being a waste of time. I am consuming gluten in prep for this visit. I had been off it only 2 or ...
  11. I too have a history of autoimmune disease (graves). I went back on gluten so I can be tested and after the first week - didnt feel much difference - this week I have increase swelling (now my lips are effected, I am having hot and cold flashes and I feel really out of it this morning (foggy). I'm at the end of my rope but I want to be sure it is looked...
  12. Also, floating stool (so if TMI) sometimes oiley
  13. Currently at the end of my rope. In the throws of trying to get it all sorted out. Cannot get into see a GI doc until the end of the month Early - stomach issues Gas/Cramps/Bloating (to where I looked preggers) Constipation Weight Stagnation (I'm athletic and my body no longer repsonded when I took up training which was unusual) Intense Night Sweats...
  14. Thanks! I requested an appt online...hopefully they can fit me in sooner rather than later
  15. Any procedure requiring "going under" has risks even if rare. It's completely your call although if my doc recommends it I will most likely do it for all the reasons listed by larry mac. I would be too tempted to say cheat a handful of times a year if I thought in the back of my head it was merely an intolerance or an allergy (something worth risking for...
  16. Does anyone from the Chicago area know of a really good GI doc? I am not sure if we are allowed to ask but I am super concerned mine wont be any good and I really want to be sure I'm going to someone familiar with celiacs.
  17. Wow hadn't heard of a pill cam before, your doc sounds progressive
  18. Ok, I am in the same boat - just reintroduced gluten with no MAJOR adverse effects. Made me think i was wrong in suspecting celiac even though everything else points to it. Are the symptons of celiac more cumulative as opposed to a wheat allergy which would show up right away? Like if I had just a wheat allergy I would most likely be feeling it right...
  19. I forgot to include that I did get intense night sweats the second night of reintroducing gluten but not anymore. Before the elimination diet, night sweats were very common and that is one sympton that my husband noticed going away when i was on the elimination diet cold hands and feet/hot midsection (esp at night) are symptons i have dealt with for...
  20. HI! I've posted various times with symptons so I will cut to the chase so to speak symptons: - for over a year have had intense stomach pain gas , grotesque bloating (looking 9 months pregant, having to change clothes middle of the day bc pants no longer fit) - constipation got worse - 3 days at a time or more unless I drink coffee or once...
  21. That is good to hear - i am anxious to get this sorted out. I am just being held up due to the dr's schedule being jam packed - it makes it hard to get to everything quickly! I know this will be a long road
  22. That's a good question. I am in the thick of going to the dr's and seeing specialists. I initially went on an elimination diet to see if any of my symptons got better: cut out gluten, soy, and diary. My grotesque stomach bloat and the need to call into work (due to pain) stopped almost immediately. However, constipation has remained and I still get gassy...
  23. Thanks for the support that gives me some hope. I imagine there might be something to resetting your body. its just a scary frustrating situation! I know it's dicey to consume gluten again in order to take the test. I was debating back and forth but i am just really desperate for answers. Cannot wait to see the GI and hopefully find out more So far...
  24. I'm in the same boat (trying to figure out gluten problem)....I count every calorie and work out all the time and still...nada...i'm even gaining I have no idea what is going on. they have ruled out thryid for me (but I am going to ask my doc to be sure to test EVERY thyroid hormone to be sure). VERY frustrating. i used to drop weight pretty rapidly ...
