I just started going gluten free a few days ago. I am much more irritable and frustrated today (day 3). I am usually a laid back easy going person. My stomach actually feels a little worse so far...but I do have more energy so I guess that is a start. Interesting to see how this effects everyone so differently.

You are definitely not alone...and you are down to the homestretch. Monday is right around the corner. I just had my endoscopy Wednesday and should hear back today or Monday with the results. I started gluten free yesterday...it was bittersweet. Excited to start and possibly feel better but mentally was a little harder than I thought it would be grocery...

ARCHIVED Another Endoscopy Today
goodnews replied to goodnews's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I can understand wanting a diagnosis. I think that since my blood test was negative that I am not going to get one either. I go back and forth. Sometimes I want one, but at this point I am going to try gluten free for a while anyhow. If I don't ever get a diagnosis I may try to introduce a little gluten back in and see how I feel. But obviously if I... -
ARCHIVED Another Endoscopy Today

Yes, those symptoms definitely could be from Celiac... Funny what you said about not remembering things. As I spoke with my husband last night I was asking him what the doctor said. He told me that the doctor told him that they did the procedure and then after wheeling me out they decided to take more biopsies and since I was already under they brought... -
ARCHIVED Starting To Eat Gluten Free Today
goodnews posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So I just had my endoscopy yesterday and am waiting for the results from the biopsy. In the meantime I am starting to eat gluten free to see if I have some relief. I have been researching and excited about starting on this only because I want to feel better! Although I am anxious that I won't feel better for a while because I still have gallbladder problems... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Today
goodnews replied to Jaymie Jaymz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hmm...I am not sure. But did the actually give you the biopsy results today? when I went in the first time they said everything looked fine, then a week later the results came in with the inflammation and all that. How did they get their biopsy results so quickly? -
ARCHIVED Another Endoscopy Today
goodnews posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So I had my second endoscopy today. I asked for the report when I left to see what was going on since I never can remember anything when I leave the place. For my first endoscopy they said that visually everything looked fine. They took 3 samples (esophagus, stomach and duodenum). The one of the intestine (duodenum) showed inflammation that they said... -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Today
goodnews replied to Jaymie Jaymz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I totally agree. I got a copy of mine today when I left because I asked for one (I knew I would never remember what they were saying after just awaking from sedation and I was right). They will give me another when the biopsies come. My report even has little pictures : ) Also I wanted one so my mother or other families can have it if and when they need... -
ARCHIVED Colon Spasms
goodnews replied to scottyg354's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I haven't experienced this, but do have gallbladder spasms on my right side under the rib. At first it started as what I thought were twitches or something right below the sternum, and sometimes moved over to the right side...then I started to wonder if it was internal. Lately I can definitely feel that it is where the gallbladder is. They aren't really... -
So in preparation of going gluten free....what are some good brands of tortilla wraps....or recipes to make your own? I really like making homemade quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, etc. and would really miss that. I am not so much a fan of corn tortillas at all. I love cornbread and muffins, but just don't like those tortillas much. Any suggestions??

ARCHIVED Get Endo Done Now?
goodnews replied to jemms's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Glad you got it scheduled...yes sometimes they just don't know. My dr. told me the other day that I could try the gluten free diet and see if I felt better. I explained to him that I wanted to wait til all the testing was done to make sure. I said to me there is a difference between going gluten free and not ever being able to cheat (having Celiac) and... -
ARCHIVED On-The-Go Newbie...
goodnews replied to hockeygirl3's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You are totally mourning the loss of those foods, which makes complete sense. I have been doing that the past couple weeks getting myself ready for a diagnosis. I was just telling my husband that the thought of never eating a food again is a hard thing to process, even if I don't eat it a lot now. For me even if I don't get a diagnosis next week I plan... -
ARCHIVED Get Endo Done Now?
goodnews replied to jemms's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Interesting, I have never heard that before. I feel like crap and am getting one on Wednesday. Also my gallbladder is failing and have frequent gallbladder pain and they are going to probably schedule to have it taken it out after I do the Endoscopy. They actually wanted to do the endoscopy first. Yes, if you are going to get the endoscopy done and you... -
ARCHIVED Goodbye Gallbladder
goodnews replied to goodnews's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ugh, hope you are feeling better this week! I started having gallbladder spasms last night...very strange. Didn't hurt any more than usual but very odd feeling. I totally agree about the swelling. the thing feels huge. Actually during the HIDA scan the radiologist said "wow you have a big gallbladder, especially for someone as small as you." I am thinking... -
ARCHIVED Possible Intolerance But Not Celiac?
goodnews replied to Angelica's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I was wondering about whether she had the HIDA scan too. My gallbladder ultrasound came back normal with no stones...only after they did the HIDA scan with the CCK did they notice how poorly the gallbladder was functioning (functioning at 23%). It surprised me at the time because while I was having pain I really thought it was celiac or gluten related.... -
ARCHIVED Goodbye Gallbladder
goodnews replied to goodnews's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks. My gallbladder pain is actually pretty mild most of the time, but constant...worse after eating. My stomach pain is constant too worse after eating...but sometimes it can get really bad where I just feel like I have the stomach flu really bad. I did get allergy testing for food and it is all clear. I am excited about starting gluten free after... -
ARCHIVED Goodbye Gallbladder

Good luck getting the gallbladder out...I am not sure when they will schedule mine. I feel my gallbladder all the time....just a dull pain, sometimes with spasms and worse at night and after eating. Very odd to always be able to feel where it is. This part (the gallbladder pain) has been pretty constant the last few weeks. Before that I sometimes had... -
ARCHIVED What Does "very High Risk Of Celiac" Really Mean?
goodnews replied to goodnews's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Actually I think he is a great doctor for even looking into this. After all, my blood test was negative and for a lot of doctors that would be the end all right there. He only took one sample because he wasn't even looking for celiac and the sample showed inflammation and signs that could be from celiac. He said it wasn't definitive or conclusive. When... -
ARCHIVED What Does "very High Risk Of Celiac" Really Mean?
goodnews posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Just curious what this really means. I have to have a repeat endoscopy as they only took one sample last time that showed signs of celiac. They are doing it again next week because my gene results reflected "VERY high risk" (the person who told me accentuated the word very when she said it) of celiac. What does that even mean? -
ARCHIVED Endoscopy Today
goodnews replied to Jaymie Jaymz's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have to get another endoscopy next week. I had an endoscopy a few weeks ago and they took 3 samples for biopsy. visually everything looked fine. The stomach sample was fine, the duodendum sample was fine, but the small intestine one showed signs of celiac. So on my next biopsy they are going to take more samples because they failed to take more the... -
ARCHIVED Goodbye Gallbladder
goodnews replied to goodnews's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
New news: So the doctor called today and said that my blood test for the genetic testing came back with a "very high risk for Celiac" She didn't tell me the markers or anything, but just told me that. She said that the doctor wants to do a repeat endoscopy as soon as possible (going in next Wednesday) and then talk about what we are going to do with... -
I can't help you with your question as I am pretty new to this and don't really know...but I do have a question for you. You mentioned that you found out you had celiac because your gallbladder was inflamed and functioning at 13%. I am just wondering how they determined it was celiac. I am wondering because they were testing me for celiac through a gene...

ARCHIVED Goodbye Gallbladder
goodnews replied to goodnews's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
thanks, I actually don't have gallstones at all...just not working right I guess. I am definitely having gallbladder pain...so I am okay with having it come out I guess. Just want to make sure there aren't other issues and if I didn't need it out and there was something I could do that would be awesome. I have yet to find stories of people that had a gallbladder... -
ARCHIVED Goodbye Gallbladder
goodnews replied to goodnews's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks Ms. Curious , I am supposed to call my gastro doctor back in the morning to get the HIDA Scan results (which I already pretty much got today) and the gene blood test results....so waiting to check the gene markers. I did get an allergy food test done this afternoon and came back all clear so that is good! Although not completely sure how reliable... -
ARCHIVED Goodbye Gallbladder
goodnews posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So I had my HIDA scan this morning. I kind of thought this was just a test to rule out the gallbladder and was waiting to get the results back from my doctor tomorrow about the gene testing to see if I needed a repeat endoscopy. But after my Hida scan the radiologist (or whoever the guy was), told me that my gallbladder is functioning at 23% and it needs...
