  1. I saw on a post, you're from Middle Tennessee. I'm from West Tennessee, college freshman. I moved down here from PA, where celiac is actually pretty common. It seems like nobody has it down south..and that everything eaten is deep fried! Can you help me out? :)

  2. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  3. The best chocolate I've ever had is Kinder from Germany.
  4. I'll be a freshman in the fall and I was blessed enough to get a full-ride scholarship to a private university. I can live on campus for free and be exempt from the meal plan because of celiac disease. The university is in my hometown, just 5 or so miles from my house. I'm leaning towards living at home, but, I'd like to hear opinions & experiences from...
  5. Hi, I was wondering if some of you ladies could give some insight. I've missed two my periods and the last period I had was in mid-November. It concerns me, considering my periods are extremely painful w/ heavy bleeding, lasting always 7+ days then suddenly there's nothing. For the past month and a half, I've experienced severe lower right abdomen pain...

  7. Bahaha :] I feel the same way...then again, we're not use to snow here in TN. I love the snow because it rarely snows here expect on the plateau. It was a senior year miracle! We got snow days lol right before exams, too. Big stress relief.
  8. Hi! Welcome Ms. Skinny Chic :] I dealt with malabsorption from my diganosis date until after being gluten for a year and half. I really can't suggest anything but reinforce what everyone else has said. It's very difficult and takes time & patience to deal with. Hope the board proves useful. Let me know if you need anything else. Take care, -Ash...
  9. Hello Peter! Ha, guess I'm gonna have to ask Santa for some industrial-sized Head & Shoulders for Christmas to take care of that 'dandruff' Oh my goodness, I wouldn't know what do if I lived in Canada! I'm so afraid of driving in the snow. everyone here acts as if it were dandruff failing from the sky lol

  14. I've also developed an apperciation for tofu, if prepared correctly. It's so yummy in Amy's Santa Fe Bowls...
  15. Coming from a large Italian family, I would eat gluten in a heartbeat, if I could...
  16. I'm so sorry. I'm 18 and vomit violently as well when I come into gluten. Hopefully, nothing like that will happen to you again. I had an episode after going gluten-free for six months. I was feeling so deprived and it was my sweet sixteen. I didn't know at the time I would react so violently, so I slipped half a slice of thin-crust pizza. Two hours later...
  17. I just got home from Voting today!!! It was my first time!
  18. Well i've endured the CPR songs and decapitation lessons in EMS so I think I'll make it I've just haven't posted because of being busy with school.
  19. One time, I had this girl ask me if I needed a special sofa to sit on. I've laughed so many times over that question. I don't know what a sofa has to do with gluten, but, okay.
  20. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone Ha, that's great because I'm a terrible speller. I tried to tell my AP teacher that my 'unique spelling' gives my paper 'personality' yeah right! I'm up for some goofyball-antics after all the stress of school! Wait, why should I be afraid of Emily? lol lol, actually I mispelled my name on purpose in...
  21. Hi guys I decided to join in after Psawyer invited me.
  22. I would have said, "Well, 'cause it takes forever to find my wallet, I guess I won't have to pay for my groceries today, huh?" Actually, I probably would have told her to do her job or I'll ask for management. I can't stand stupid people like that. Sorry you had to deal with that :[ -Ash.
  23. Definitely tell your teachers. Especially concerning emergency bathroom trips. I'm taking several AP classes myself and got in the same situation in AP Gov't during an unit test. I knew my teacher wouldn't let me stop mid-way so I rushed through it and failed it, just to use the bathroom. I had my doctor fax a statement to the school, then which was...
  24. It depends if your son can tolerate the exposure to all that gluten. I worked at Maggie Moos for a year and a half before I had to quit. I constantly got sick, especially from cooking the waffle cones. For awhile, I was fine. Then, later on, I would get migraines almost every shift. But, if your son can bear, make sure that he wears gloves whenever possible...
  25. I'm so excited I turned 18 Tuesday and I'm going tomorrow to register!
