    ARCHIVED Always Hot

I tend to get flushed and very warm for hours. I also sweat a great deal, even if it's cold out, when I have gluten. Without it, I have cold hands, no sweating, and no redness to the face. Ann
  3. oh, what a year! I've neglected my diet for celiac disease trying to get my RA straightened out. I was bedridden much of late summer and felt awful the rest of the time. I have never been in so much pain as I've been this year. In October I finally saw a rheumatologist who gave it to me straight, either take the meds or die about 15 years younger than the...
  4. today is going pretty well. I had my yearly mammogram this morning :(I hate those....I had to take a nap this afternoon but made a good dinner of ham, mashed potatoes and creamed corn. I was in a starchy comfort mood :)I am feeling a lot better eating gluten free. The doctor gave me a week to see if it would help my RA. I had to go stricter with my starches...
  5. I've been sooooo busy! Son is working in one town 70 miles away and playing football in a different town 65 miles away and we're in school already. I've not had much time for internet or anything else lately.Gluten free is going really well. I've been surprised at how easy it is once I got into it. I've shed some of my prednisone weight which is nice...
  6. been doing well. got thru dh's birthday unscathed. it's been a very busy few days and I really haven't had time to do much other than chores and errands.I'm off prednisone for 3 days now and I'm already losing weight and my appetite has gone down quite a bit. yea!went to eat out yesterday and just about messed up, luckily I caught it in time and did ok...

last couple of days have been good gluten-free-wise. ra has been awful. i've done some walking, that's always good. ds liked the gluten-free bread, I thought it was too heavy. we both liked the flavor of the pancakes but again, it was too heavy for me. I think I would prefer to do without the substitutes, ds would like them again.very tired this morning...
  8. I figured it was, that's why I've avoided it. I wasn't sure what the "extract" was. I took it for granted it was gluten. just double checking to make sure I was right! ann
  9. I've seen this on several different products and I"ve assumed it's gluten, am I correct or is this safe?

some people are brilliant..... i went to a fast food restaurant today, ordered a cheeseburger, no bun of course, with lettuce, onion, tomato. they bring it out in the little dish, and had placed the cheese on the bottom of the burger! so basically it was stuck to the dish and I had a hamburger. didn't realize I had to tell them how to do that even......

today went much MUCH better!ate out for lunch but i had ingredients checked and had pork and cole slaw. dinner was a salad, beans, black olives, ...that's about it. had a snack at the movies, also gluten free.walked for 1 1/2 hours this morning before it got really hot.arthritis is hurting pretty badly tonight, right hip hurts and that's unusual, my hips...
  14. I've never thought of myself as sick. tired, in pain, and frustrated, but never sick. I always knew as soon as I found out the problem, I'd start feeling better. That is true with celiac disease, not so much with ra and that's where my struggle has been. I still don't see myself as sick though. ann
  15. great ideas! thank you. this is new for us so we're still in the learning and experimenting stage...don't want to do TOO much experimenting and get into health troubles. thanks again!! ann
  16. my teenage son is showing definite signs of celiac. he works 70+ miles away and has to pack his lunch, no refrigeration. He's been packing sandwiches along with an ice pack but I want to fix something without bread. We're in a very small town and to my knowledge, there's no gluten-free breads available here. He leaves home at 6:00 am, eats lunch at 1...

well, had a rough night. I had wheat yesterday and boy, did I pay for it. All night long my stomach ached and cramped. It's also kicked up my ra, could hardly get out of bed this morning. I can't wait to get off prednisone next month!I made myself some scrambled eggs with a little cheese. put a little miracle whip on that and had a glass of orange juice...
  18. Hi Megan! I hope you like Nebraska!! At least on your side you're close to Colorado. Kimberly, unbelievable. I sent you a pm. I'm also in Auburn! How bizarre is that?! I'm having a really rough time with celiac disease and ra right now. It's nice to know there's someone close by who can relate! Ann
  19. I am really starting to notice a food connection. When I eat dairy, citrus, and a slip of gluten ing., I feel awful! This is amazing to me how food affects all the joints! Thank you all for your posts. I'm learning a lot and getting encouraged, despite the pain and swelling
  20. what do you mean you watch it carefully? what do you look for at your visits. do you go to a rheumatologist? I have been reading a lot about the raw vegan diet and how it is an inflammatory diet. I am going to try that and see how I feel. thank you all so much for info!! Ann
  21. you all are great. I have felt so much better mentally today just reading this board! I have learned my lesson. I didn't know that celiac and ra were related until a couple of days ago, thru my internet research and my food diary...I definitely found a correlation between my dietary indiscretion and my ra symptoms. cdford, do you take the typically...
  22. thank you for your reply. I have the chronic constipation, extreme thirst, (checked for diabetes several times, finally told it was hypoglycemia), weight gain, fatigue, muscle pain, light sensitive, itchy eyes, chronic sinus congestion/swelling, stomach pain, gas, etc. I have learned alot reading all 19 pages of posts here today! Some of it is very...
  23. I know this is a really old thread but I am really surprised to read all this! I am of Irish and German descent!!!
  24. I have that too! I never even thought about it being related to celiac disease. I had it a few months ago for two or three months in a row, then it subsided. I had it again a few days ago. Very sharp and painful. I thought maybe I was having ovarian cysts again but I'm on the pill to help those anyway so maybe that's not what it is.... Sorry I can't...
  25. Hi, I've been really careless. I was diagnosed 7 years ago with celiac disease, hypoglycemia and told to eat low carb and no processed foods, etc. I did great for about 3 years, lost weight, felt wonderful, then got lazy. I've gained all my weight back AND have developed rheumatoid arthritis! I refuse to take the drugs for ra so I am back to the...
