ARCHIVED Gluten-free Slim Fast Drinks
Ann1231 replied to blueeyedmanda's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
not that I can find. I've never had trouble with it and I have a wheat allergy along with celiac disease so I would definitely know within seconds if I'd had any wheat contamination. Ann -

I've been drinking these for a while. They're good, pretty much taste like the regular optima shakes. Ann -
April 19, 2007. March 23 Was Critical And Pivotal For Me
Ann1231 posted a blog entry in Ann1231's Blog
The week containing March 23rd will be a week I'm eternally grateful for. All week we were running back and forth for Full Monty performances and Much Ado rehearsals. I did not stay on my gluten free diet. I also noticed I was having breathing problems, similar but not as severe as, my peanut allergy reaction. By cast party Friday night, I was so tired... -
I have RA and I'm not on steroids. I'm on methotrexate and plaquenil. I've been diagnosed RA for over 2 years now. Steroids are not used to TREAT RA, but are used during flares or at initial diagnosis to reduce inflammation and the pain associated with it. RA is treated with DMARDS, biologics, etc. My arthritis is MUCH better on gluten free. I also...

My son suggested that too!! I did find a really good rice and corn pasta and made it into chicken and noodles. Everyone (including hubby) said it was my best batch!

Even though the weather is changing with a rain storm coming in, I'm feeling really good! My joints don't hurt at all and I feel energetic, and this is a day after my mtx!! I would like to get all the pasta out of the house but hubby likes it. It's not really fair to deny him just because I can't have it. I feel like I'm losing a little weight but...

I am soooo tired. It's been 2 solid months of driving 160 miles every day. The play was great but everyone involved is exhausted. Now we have to get thru Much Ado About Nothing and THEN we rest! Tomorrow I don't have to go anywhere!!! The last few days I've had some problems with breathing. I felt like I do when I am around peanut dust or other...

I don't know of any specific ones but you might contact Children's Hospital in Omaha and see if they have one. The hospital there has a very good reputation and I would trust their recommendation.

absolutely. I have to be extremely careful because I can eat gluten and not feel sick or anything. Other times I eat it and I have a really hard set-back. I know I was glutened last week when I ate out at one meal. I felt fine. Then this week I had gluten and have been suffering since. I sometimes have a hard time staying on my diet because I often...

What a month! Son is now in two major theater productions and rehearsals nearly every night. We got stranded for several days out of town because of snow and ice. I had a terrible time staying gluten free and one day said to heck with it. Of course now I've been constipated since Wednesday, feel bloated and stuffy, moody too. The family got into...

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have Hypoglycemia Along With Their Celiac?
Ann1231 replied to Run-4-Jesus's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I was diagnosed with hypoglycemia before celiac. Changing my diet to help my blood sugar made a huge difference in my health. I thought I would miss the extra breads, cereals, things that I used to eat way too much of, but I didn't miss them at all. I felt so good for a change that it was worth it. -
Another month gone by so quickly! I can hardly keep up. Traveling with food is going ok. I've been making some hot dishes since it's so cold. I made chili tonight and for some reason it was really flat tasting. I made it like I always do but it needed more umph tonight. I'm a little tired (already ) of coming home at 11:30 or midnight and having...

ARCHIVED Traveling With 16 Year Old Every Evening, Need Help With Packing Dinner!
Ann1231 replied to Ann1231's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
wow, thank you for all the great responses! We aren't staying overnight, we drive 160 miles every day. I did go and buy a couple of fairly large thermos' for us. I like the idea of a hot meal when the temperature outside is in the teens! I also broke down and bought some gluten free pastas and breads to make casseroles and sandwiches. I made a chicken... -
ARCHIVED Traveling With 16 Year Old Every Evening, Need Help With Packing Dinner!
Ann1231 replied to Ann1231's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'd love to have your recipes, thank you! I was thinking cold foods but hot foods would be better since it is so cold out right now and warm foods do seem more filling. I just couldn't think of any that wouldn't be messy (like soups and such). I don't know if I have my email available on my profile, if not, I will add that right now if you wouldn't mind... -
ARCHIVED Update/ To Brother In A Heap
Ann1231 replied to winki4's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am so sorry to hear your news. Thank you for the update and please know there are a lot of prayers for you and your family. Ann -
For the next two months, well, until April 8th to be precise, my teenaged son and I will be eating on the road. I've already made the decision that we will be packing our dinner with us. He has not been tested but is showing very strong signs of celiac. It runs rampant in my family (me, Dad, uncles, cousins, brother, etc.) and ds and I really feel son...

What a busy weekend! I feel like resting today but it's another travel day. I need to get some traveling dinner ideas so I can pack a meal that ds will eat before rehearsals. He is not cooperating with a gluten-free diet so husband and I decided we need to totally clean out the house and all of us will be gluten-free. I was shocked by that! I don't know...

oops, that should have said 1 oz. of cheese has 8 grams of protein
-
well, the minimum "requirement" for women is 45 to 55 grams of protein per day, more if you are highly active. Many people do see putting on weight as a carb problem. I definitely have to count my carbs or I gain weight extremely easily. I do a moderately low carb with 60 - 80 carbs per day. Some people feel better around 100 or even 200 but I could...

Hi Cathy, What you are describing is normal for low carb diets. Protein keeps you fuller longer. Carbs do make you hungrier faster because they process thru the body faster. Your calories sound find. Just don't go any lower than 1200, that would slow down your metabolism and actually hinder your weight loss. How many grams of protein and carbs...

I'm on a couple of boards now that has bickering going on because of "celebrity spokepersons". I don't get it. Why do we need a celebrity to validate what we have? Does it make the disease any more real? No. Does it make it "ok" to have? no. It might make it the flavor of the month disease which we don't need. I truly don't get why people think it's...

Today is a big day. Son has Shakespeare auditions and a talent contest tonight. I would be so nervous and he's goofing around like it's another average day....I guess for him it is. He's really into this entertainment field. I had a horrendous night Thursday night. I had the most massive RA pain that I've ever had in my two years of this disease....

ARCHIVED Elizabeth Haselbeck Said She Has Celiac!
Ann1231 replied to TBOX's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'm so glad you wrote this. I felt the same. I can't stand Rosie so it was hard to sit thru the show before the segment came on. I was disappointed that Elizabeth didn't describe symptoms or how you should be tested or anything else. It was nice to have it mentioned but I felt it was done in a glossed over way, not enough to stress the importance of it...
