ARCHIVED Nice Eyelashes!
Ann1231 replied to ThomasMom's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
wow, this is really odd. I'd never have thought of eyelashes as being a symptom of celiac disease. I have very long lashes too and when I put on mascara, they always dot by my eyebrows and the lower ones dot that bone under they eyes by the cheeks. I also have to wear my glasses a bit lower or the lashes catch in the frame. I also have ridged nails that... -
ARCHIVED Mary Kay Cosmetics
Ann1231 replied to teankerbell's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Mary Kay is one makeup I absolutely can not wear. I don't know if it's gluten or what but within minutes of using it, my face is beet red and burning like crazy. It's the worst I've ever had as far as makeup reactions. Like I said, I don't know if it's gluten or not but there's definitely something in it that reacts badly on me. Ann -
ARCHIVED Vital Radiance Makeup
Ann1231 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I did things backwards. I bought the makeup, THEN contacted the company about whether gluten is in their products. Here's their response. Dear Ann, Thank you for contacting vitalradiance.com and for your inquiry. The following Vital Radiance products DO CONTAIN gluten products: Vital Radiance Line Softening Makeup - Pore Refining Vital Radiance... -
ARCHIVED For Those With Rheumatoid Arthritis

thank you! great information and congratulations on your success! I'm printing off your post to hang in my kitchen. I like salmon and tuna...is canned tuna alright? I don't eat soy. It's never agreed with me. Why don't you eat bananas? How do you take the flaxseed oil, isn't it pretty disgusting? Sorry for all the questions but you've given me a great... -
I tried WW but having the same trouble with flex. It seems the foods I can eat (nuts, seeds, other protein foods) are so high in points that I end up with very little food. I don't eat that much with being gluten-free but it's crazy how little I was able to eat and stay in the point range. Let us know if you try the core plan, if it works any better. Ann

before gluten-free or if I have anything with gluten, I binge on carbs until I'm sick. It's like a compulsive thing, I just can't get enough. My dr. told me it's like an alcoholic who can not stop drinking, even though he/she knows better. He said to treat gluten like a drug, you can't have any whatsoever. I needed that advice years ago! I would eat...

Nikki, did your husband take folic acid with the methotrexate? My first three weeks I had severe nausea, dizziness, vertigo, extreme fatigue so the dr. had me take 3 folic acid and that helped a great deal. Now I am doing really well except I still get fatigued but that could very well be the RA. I've been on mtx. since October now. Ann

I have improved a great deal with gluten-free and I've been following a vegetarian diet but feeling like I need more to my diet. Does eating meat bother you once you've been gluten-free for a while? I'm thinking of adding in meats but I'm not sure whether it will set me back or not. I'm finally able to cut back the prednisone and not go on biologics as...

hypoglycemic since childhood. didn't find the celiac until a few short years ago. gluten free helps both conditions for me and like others have said, protein makes a huge difference. I can not eat any meat but fish due to RA so I eat a lot of fish, some eggs, I use a protein powder, it all works out so far.

I've got RA and gluten definitely bothers me, so do meat products. Basically I eat a very strict vegetarian diet with some fish..fish doesn't bother me. In Dec. my rheumy said I would be on biologics in March. Well, yesterday was my appt. and with my strict diet, not only am I not going on biologics but I also get to cut back my other meds! I'm feeling...

uncle had massive heart attack today..his daughter is one of the cousins who found the celiac in the family. wonder if his heart attack was from years of damage to his system. he's not that old. my rheumy appt. went much better yesterday. he still refuses to believe that diet has anything to do with it but I know better lots of vegetables and fruits...

Feeling really good lately. I've stayed away from wheat and all its derivatives and it's making a huge difference. I'm able to exercise more and sleep better. Everything is going well. yea!

dang. I had gluten last night. That really aggravates me not only for my intestines but for my RA. Now I have to start all over with today as Day One. Today is a strict vegan, gluten-free day!

ARCHIVED Did Anyone Need To Decrease Meds After Going gluten-free?
Ann1231 replied to a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm having to lower several meds after being gluten free. I'm hoping to get completely off of them! -
constipation is getting a little better, no bleeding today! I'm still eating vegetarian. It helps with both gluten and RA. I've been eating a lot of raw foods lately, fruits, including figs, dates, raisins, bananas, and lots of carrots, cucumbers, celery. I'm still very fatigued this week. I got the ok to lower my MTX to 6 a week instead of 7. PA...

ARCHIVED Is Anyone Juicing?
Ann1231 replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I got a Jack LaLanne juicer about two years ago and it's still going strong. Easy to use, easy clean up. I feel great when I'm juicing, I like to juice apples, a really small piece of fresh ginger, pour in a cup and stir with a cinnamon stick. It's a great one to drink at night, helps me sleep. Juiced cantaloupe and pear together is great, easy to drink... -
yesterday turned out well. I had rice, carrots and cucumbers for dinner last night. Today I have a really bad headache, probably gluten withdrawal. I did a full qigong workout last night, felt wonderful. Today son starts his drama class for the semester so we'll be traveling and eating out. I'm going to take him to Hu Hot, they have an allergy sheet...

full day 2 without gluten. Feeling better on that front, I've been eating a lot of fresh vegetables and lean meats, pecans, raisins and prunes. My increase in mtx. is awful, I feel drugged again this week and can hardly stay awake and when I sleep, I have a terrible time waking up. I thought about ordering a pizza for an easy dinner...duh. It's...

ARCHIVED Is There An Internet Site For Checking Meds?
Ann1231 replied to Ann1231's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thank you Cindy! I will definitely check out the site. I am trying to make sure all my ra meds are not getting me glutened when I'm trying so hard to clean out! It would be nice to print off a gluten-free food list to carry with me too. Thank you for you comments on my Dad. He was a good man by all accounts. That would be a funny looking 'Ann... -

ARCHIVED Is There An Internet Site For Checking Meds?
Ann1231 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I need to find out if my methotrexate, naproxyn, or prednisone have any gluten, also a host of vitamins and some other meds. Is there an online site for this? I have to wait forever to get information from my pharmacist and then I"m not quite sure I trust it. Thanks Ann -
ARCHIVED Self-diagnosed, Looking For Help Understanding..
Ann1231 replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I'm sorry you are going thru this. I am one of the overweight, constipated, bloody stools celiac people. I also have bouts of depression and anxiety. I don't have any schizophrenic episodes but it stands to reason that if your whole body is out of whack, your emotions and mental state would be affected. What's your blood sugar like? Hypoglycemia... -
I'm glad you're feeling better! I'm getting into this thread late but wanted to say that I've been taking zoloft since early summer and I'm feeling great with it. The only side effect I had was serious constipation so I cut the dose in half (w/dr's ok). Other than that, there have been only good effects. Yoga helps and so does walking/exercise once I...

ARCHIVED Casein Intolerance Symptoms
Ann1231 replied to Felidae's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I get severely constipated and hemorrhoids too with any and all dairy/casein products. I feel really bloated and nauseaous for a few hours after drinking milk, cheese makes me gassy. They're just not worth it for me! Ann -
I'm feeling better this morning. I still had some pain in the right side area last night but I slept very well and don't feel as fuzzy minded this morning. Today is my MTX day so that will change I don't have a clue what I want to eat for breakfast. I'm not even hungry but I have to eat to take my meds. If I can still function after that I think...
