  1. Well, that was actually meant sort of tongue in cheek, but ok.
  2. "Sorry you got glutened?" Hah! I will make you sorry. With a blow by blow account of my gut wrenching pain and waves of nausea and chills while I WAIT for the inevitable puke fest to come. Gee, I dont understand why my friends are blocking my news feeds? I so hate gluten right now. It should just be banned. Forever. Argh. My guts hurt. Middle of the...
  3. 3 of us Celiac, so my husband is gluten-free by default. For awhile I kept a few things in the house for him, loaf of bread, some cookies etc...but the kids were so sensitive they kept reacting. And it was hard being the "gluten-cop" as someone mentioned...(No, you didn't eat the cookies in the red package did you?! Those aren't gluten free!" This way, there...
  4. Fair enough. I was just making her aware of the possibility.
  5. From this website: Open Original Shared Link ... 487.htm#q8 Are there examples of food products that are naturally "gluten-free"? Yes. The following are examples of, but are not limited to, foods that are naturally gluten-free:
  6. Thank you- where do you find these? I have not seen this brand in WalMart or Target, which is the limit to stores in our area.
  7. I think Gemini made some good points- could be another autoimmune issue going on, and I would investigate that possibility first. As far as reacting to tiny bits in the house though- absolutely possible. Visit the super-sensitive forum and you will see what I mean. It only takes a tiny molecule of gluten to trigger an immune response in some people. Both...
  8. That is the worst- and every parent on here can relate to it! My little boy is fond of screaming out "Why are you doing this to me?! Dont you love me?!" Every time we have to draw blood. It is So hard! But good for you for following through. And yes, most likely the tests will be negative, especially because she is so young, but it is all you can do! If I...
  9. A couple more possibilities- His numbers DO continue to drop, albeit very slowly. Perhaps his body is just so "revved up" against gluten as well as his other food allergies, that the immune system is just taking extra long to settle down and quit producing antibodies. No scientific basis for this, just a theory that would make sense to me. It sounds...
  10. And dont be too hard on yourself. It was your doctor's job to educate you about the seriousness of the disease and the importance of being gluten free! But they often don't. My mom had her gallbladder out ten years ago, the doctor had his nurse call her after the surgery. She left a voicemail- "doctor says celiac sprue is evident, so eat a rice diet." That...
  11. Good for you! I wouldn't do it either! You shouldn't have to have a test verify that something makes you sick! I wish more doctors would just dx based on symptoms when blood tests and/or biopsies don't always show the true picture. Though in my case, I am grateful for the tests, because I had no idea gluten was a problem for any of us. I had some stomach...
  12. My kids and I were all dx with Celiac after biopsies in April. None of us presented with "classic" symptoms at the time, though I had a childhood that fit the bill plainly. I was reading the biopsy reports today and something caught my attention: MY report (the GI dx me before the biopsy was rcv'd, based solely on the appearance of my guts. He said it...
  13. IgA, Total Iga, Igg and Ttg...make sure he does the total IGA as it is often left out of the standard celiac panel. A fair amount of celiacs are IGA deficient, and that can cause a false negative reading. as for "lying"....one of the lead researchers for celiac disease who initially insisted on biopsy as being the "gold standard" recently stated in gluten...
  14. BAM! As Emeril would say...if he had Celiac that is...lol
  15. So I finally heard back from the company...sort of. makes me wonder if a real person even READS the emails? They are treating it like a complaint! Argh. I just want to know their processing procedure. Anyway...this is what they said: In response to your email regarding M&M'S PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE CANDIES. Thank you for your email. We're...
  16. Hope you are celebrating GOOD news! Thinking of you!
  17. My 8 year old is on iron supplements, I have been giving him flintstones but they can't verify if all of their source products are gluten free, so they are not ideal. He was on a liquid supplement for awhile, but it was discoloring his teeth, so I switched to the chewables. I am not having any luck finding something besides flintstones, and since he still...
  18. Actually got in to see doc today, he was so supportive and agreed it was a valid possibility. So nice to not be treated like an over-reacting mother! Anyway, he did TSH, free T3 and free T4, TPO, and Tpag- he said total T3 and 4 would be redundant and that they don't use those anymore. I don't know if he is right or not, but he was being pretty cooperative...
  19. You are NOT a terrible mother! The gluten free diet is HARD, and feeding toddlers who AREN'T Celiac is challenging. I would advise you not to worry about finding gluten free specialty products. Prepared foods are not the healthiest choice anyway. Stick with things that are naturally gluten free, and toddler friendly- cut up fruits and veggies, applesauce...
  20. So, my celiac son, who is 8, had his micronutrient levels tested in August, everything was ok except ferritin I was told. He continued to complain constantly about pain and numbness in his feet, was having panic attacks regularly, and suffered from severe depression and anxiety. He is also very hyperactive, complains about his eyes hurting and stinging all...
  21. No problems with dyes or peanuts ever- so I am going to email the company as suggested. I will let you know what I hear back!
  22. Every adult on this board is banging their head in frustration right now. What I would like to post is something very parental...but would probably get me kicked off the board. And I am trying to remember that just like everyone else, you are grieving something that Celiac's has taken from you, and with that I can empathize at least. But please listen...
  23. Totally get it! Congratulations!
  24. Everything I have read says they are gluten free. But this is twice in a row now that I have gotten sick within minutes of finishing a bag. Last time I thought it was a fluke. This time, my celiac son and I were munching them in the car, and by the time we got into the store, we both had to go running for the bathroom. I am kind of fortunate in that gluten...
  25. Thank you for the replies. The "lame advertisement" company also lists it as gluten free on their website, so I guess I need to start looking at something else as the culprit.
