I used digest gold mainly and the chewable papaya enzyme. Neither has peppermint.

I was reading a lot more online about betaine. One mentioned the burning would be very light and almost imperceptible. I saw some that suggested 6ish, but more than revolved around 3. I think I am going to stick to three per meal for a week or so.

Same here. I think the dose is dependent on the amount and type of food. I still take zantac at night and sometimes during the day but before that was not even enough. I have yet to experience burning from the betaine. It is a little hard to tell for the rest of gi symptoms as I think i might have been cc'd by something. Been very run down and lower tummy...

I just wanted to update with my personal experience. I just started today with 5 betaine and one digest gold at each meal. I did a day of 1 per meal, then 2 per meal the next day and so on. From the 1-4 per meal I had no adverse reactions at all and what I think were improvements so far. It is really hard to tell, but at least it has not been negative. I...

ARCHIVED Can You Have Soy If You Are Gluten Free?
Chad Sines replied to quiltmom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Many at least start off with issues to common allergens, soy, dairy, etc until things heal up. Dairy and soy get me bad. Heck, it seems like my GI accepts and rejects things at will with no rhyme or reason. -
ARCHIVED So How Was Thanksgiving?

Mine was great. No gluten unless CC. did eat milk because of the potatos. Lots of carbs. Did really well, ate too much. -
ARCHIVED Bloating And Nonstop Burping -- Help
Chad Sines replied to Strawberry-Jam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have had a significant reduction in intestinal gas since going low carb. It has been a little over a week and I am pleased with the change. Much less bloating. I did have massive carbs on Thanksgiving but no gluten. Several experts feel one cause of reflux is intestinal gas which makes sense. Several feel too little stomach acid which also makes sense... -
I agree with everyone. Pizza is my weakness. One place locally does gluten-free, but that is just the dough. There is no doubt there is CC everywhere.

They do not even have to be on dedicated lines to be certified gluten free. Here is an excerpt from GFCO. Are Dedicated lines important? Sometimes. The type of production process, cleaning methods and other factors are important in accessing if a gluten-free product can safely be run on the same line after gluten containing products. Our auditors assess...

ARCHIVED My Parents Don't Understand And Its All My Sister Fault (She Has Celiac Too)
Chad Sines replied to eborzecki's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
And? So what if they do not get it? Talking to some people is like talking to a wall. If anyone does not approach it from the angle of a listener, then I think it is not worth the hassle. There are lots of people who will not get it and some who will be a pain in the a.. about it. You are worth so much more than the time to stress over it. Your only job... -
ARCHIVED Am I Getting Worse Because I'm Reading Too Much?
Chad Sines replied to GlutenFreeNewB's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It helped me to realize that my system was all screwed up and had no clue what it wanted. I can have issues with eggs one day and the next be okay, same with corn and many other triggers. It does seem that it gets a lot better quickly then a lot worse and then I guess stabilizes over time. -
That is how bad celiac and my GI system has messed me up. I cannot even notice plunging bras anymore. I have been neutared. lol.

I think people just do not get it and cannot comprehend it. I have to say I did know much about it until I realized I had it. Had someone said the same thing to me I might have replied "Yeah, I get it. I love bread. It was like a rug was pulled out from under me. But overall it gave me my life back."

ARCHIVED Frustrated With Nausea!
Chad Sines replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Look for the 10,000 IU unit vitamin D. I forget who makes it. It is over the counter and no soy. It still caused me issues. I have heard quite a few people have issues with vitamin D in general. -
I just took my first full doses yesterday. The enzymes I had were half the normal strength and I received the full ones in the mail yesterday. Since I started the half doses, I still had heartburn throughout the day so i took zantac when it hit. it did help that a lot. I also took the HCl at meals. I am trialing a discontinuation of my Welchol which I believe...

ARCHIVED Frustrated With Nausea!
Chad Sines replied to sandsurfgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Vitamin D makes me incredibly nauseous even with food in doses over 1000 IU. I used to think that was because some was in soybean oil; however, I noticed it in some that did not list it. I have heard it does that if your magnesium and calcium is low, but not sure. A weekly script dose would at least only cause you issues that day. Glutamine does it to... -
I think you have to be resigned to the fact that NO fast food is gluten free unless it comes pre-packaged to them. They might be lower gluten or potentially gluten-free, but the cross contamination is there. The vats may be dedicated but often they are shared near closing or in the morning. If you are one of those who react to cross contamination, then...

I work in healthcare documentation and speak with physicians regularly. These people were trained as body "mechanics" more than investigators. In fact going contrary to medical normalcy can cause them to be vulnerable to law suits. In essence we have bred physicians to be LESS a diagnostician and more a reciter of standard procedures. Imagine how hard...

That is my plan. I ordered some betaine with pepsin that will arrive on monday. i am going to use that only to ensure i do not confuse acid issues with enzyme intolerance. The ACV seem odd to me. I tried it a long time ago for something and even diluted, it scorched my esophagus.
-
What i am taking now because i already had it is 324 mg betaine in a digestive blend during each meal. No PPI or zantac since doing it. Clearly not worse since doing this. At least a 50% perceived reduction in issues. I still have some heartburn issues but I think it might be from my Welchol use (for bile reflux and other bile salt issues) and/or that I need...

I actually think the betaine is helping. Interesting.

ARCHIVED Got Any Funnys From Friends/family Trying To Understand?
Chad Sines replied to Chad Sines's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
lol. poor thing. I dislike the taste of most of the substitutes although some are not too bad. An odd thing is that my GI rejects a lot of the substitutes as well. Worth experimenting. For me the worst situation is to let my blood sugar get low aka too hungry. it is so tempting then to eat anything u can find. -
I just took the twinlabs super enzymes with betaine hcl (i already had it here but was scared of it before) after I ate three breadless hamburger patties. Either you will be my favorite person in the morning or not. lol. I think i needed to hear one person say it helped them to take that plunge. Many thanks.
