  1. I also think that vitamins cause me more issues than not taking them. Tiredness, digestive issues, etc.
  2. Isn't it mildly humorous that we consider our culture evolved and more sophisticated and yet we seem to be poisoning ourselves with excess sugar, dyes, hormones, etc. All that technology just to learn that the simpler ways were safer for us all along.
  3. I have actually gotten the sickest from some gluten-free foods, ie Lara bars. Go figure. I think the reason we all have differing views of CC is that some of the CC issues are other reactions, ie food allergies, sensitivities, digestive enzymes, etc. There really is no way to know for sure if the CC feeling is gluten or some other item which makes it...
  4. My concern was about washed items, ie dishwashered items. If gluten is still that present after washing as to cause issues, then family members simply eating gluten items in the house would seem to be detrimental as gluten would be all over items over time. If this is the case, then all families with a celiac person should totally ban gluten in its entirety...
  5. I like the hard boiled egg idea and the sandwich one too.
  6. I have found Dinty Moore and some other gluten-free soups to be great tasting gluten-free lunches (and dairy and soy free too). They have been a life saver as the bring normalcy to lunch. What about portable, prepared breakfast options? I rarely have time in the morning to cook so something that is available at the store without the need to cook is something...
  7. Being a biochemist (Masters in biochemistry), I also think this is a very controversial issue. The only thing one needs to do to make gluten ineffective is to denature it and regular cooking does not do this but there are other ways to denature proteins. Quite frankly I would be very shocked to hear that chemists do not know the temperature at which it dentures...
  8. You know. I had never thought about HFCS or regular corn syrup till you just said that.
  9. I really think our GI systems are so wonky that many issues are so multifaceted that it is nearly impossible to figure out. Reducing gluten reduces many issues but maybe a dairy issue is causing nausea and then the soy and then the corn. So in the end we get no complete relief from anything so it is a constant struggle. So nice that there are a group of people...
  10. What struck me in your reply is the reflux vs celiac symptoms. I do think for a lot of us this is a point of confusion when it comes to figuring ourselves out. Many of my reflux symptoms feel like celiac and vice versa. And as we all know, too much acid reduction from meds causes all sorts of issues.
  11. Well, they are just a junk food full of unneeded sugar. It really makes sense that it should cause issues. I love them and am in no way a healthy eater, so do not take this as insulting as it may sound. It was a statement someone made to me recently that was an aha moment in some eating choices of mine.
  12. You can do a lot simply by eating lower carb, ie starve the yeast of its food source. The symptoms mimic so much. It could be a stomach acid issue (result of PPI or H2s reducing acid too much or someone having too much acid) or a bacterial overgrowth or a lack of digestive enzymes. I am still not convinced yeast is a real GI issue although I am open to...
  13. In many ways it does. There is just no way around it. People have to plan around you a little (or maybe I should say choose to because they care). You cannot just go out to eat anywhere. A little oops and your messed up for quite a while. I would say that it defines you like any other serious ailment defines a person. I am new to this all but I spend a large...
  14. I had a GI suggest it years ago and then that was the end of it although she did some blood work (never heard back) that I am trying to get a hold of. At the time I did not know enough to pursue it more. I just assumed the issues were post-GB removal issues. I had all the symptoms for a year with the worse being nausea, vomiting, dizziness, anxiety, brain...
  15. It seems that people have pain all over the place. I have the same issues but when it is worst, I feel a semi-pain right under my diaphragm, over liver area (had GB removed many years ago) right where one might say a GB pain was coming from. That area is always sensitive to touch. Apparently I am finding gluten in foods I think are safe, grr. Do others experience...
  16. part of me wonders if the detox feelings aka fatigue and brain fog is from the body finally having a chance to being to heal itself so it is just doing so as quickly as possible.
  17. Again, I am saying wow. First gluten, then dairy, and now soy. I think I may just eat bark from now on. I used to enjoy the gluten-free protein drinks for a quick breakfast but to go dairy free many use soy. Are there any easily obtained ones that are gluten-free, Soy free, and dairy free?
  18. I usually start to feel off and at some point from the trigger to the next morning get light nausea if it was mild all the way to a full-blown ick fest, usually at night. Those are freaky. Just had one last night.
  19. That is the first I have heard of that being a typical symptom. So many little things that docs keep missing.
  20. I am in a different location with fewer allergens (none i am allergic to) and significant sinus issues that I think is dairy. Definite gi issues from something that i think might be dairy too. can't we just have issues with one food source at a time. lol.

    ARCHIVED Dairy

I have read a lot of dairy posts in these forums. Just how bad of a reaction do most of you have and how much sets it off? It is appearing like I may have some significant dairy issues that cause some major sinus and GI issues but it an at times seems almost worse than the gluten reaction (not really).
  22. For me, I had GI issues since 14. At 30 I went on Atkins for a year (to the best of my knowledge I accidentally avoided gluten in other foods) and wow at the health improvement. Then I went off when my gallbladder croaked and was removed. I could just feel the change back to some kind of ick. From that point on it was downhill. Looking back, all the symptoms...
  23. I have been reading these forums for a bit and decided to finally post. I have had GI issues since 14 (37 now). I had my gallbladder out about 5 years ago. Gained lots of weight, going from ideal to weighty. My GI doc suggested I might have celiac quite a while ago, but I am not sure if I ever got the results of the test. Last year I started getting dizziness...
