ARCHIVED Weight And Height In Kids
Mummyto3 replied to Mummyto3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My hubby and I were tall and skinny as kids too. So we didn't think much to her height or being skinny. -
ARCHIVED High Blood Test
Mummyto3 replied to Starting to live withot's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
When my daughters bloods came back high last month, we were told to keep her on gluten until she's had the biopsy. That was done yesterday. She will go gluten free from next weeek or this weekend, I want her to just have what she wants before starting her new lifestyle. In the UK, if you get pos results with the biopsy you get food on perscription, so... -
ARCHIVED Trying To Test My 6 Year Old
Mummyto3 replied to mamabear272's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Our dr prescribed EMLA cream for my boys. I put it on them this morning for their blood test today. They didn't even flinch when blood was drawn. They did really well, so I would highly recommend it. -
ARCHIVED Biopsy Over With....
Mummyto3 replied to Mummyto3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Me too, she's always ill on an evening and now its even worse because her throat is sore and swollen. She can't eat and won't drink much at all. Will be keeping a close eye on her. Looks like they managed to cut her uvula as there's a red line on it which is new. They didn't mention it so I assume it's ok and was done either during biopsy or just after... -
Intial results are, her villi were shortened and dr said that he'd bet money on my daughter having celiac disease. Results on Thurs afternoon. In a letter he gave me it shows mild scalloping of duodenal mucosa folds, normal apprearance of stomach and duodenam. Anyone else have these sorts of results? I'm trying to find out more on the more medical...

ARCHIVED Weight And Height In Kids
Mummyto3 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Just wondering whether anyones kids are similar to mine. She's very tall, 4ft 6in, weight is 29kgs and coeliac. And although she's of a normal weight she is very very skinny. She looks underweight. Her legs and arms are like sticks and of course she has the trademark pot belly due to the illness. I know I've read a lot about kids being short and underweight... -
ARCHIVED Short Kids
Mummyto3 replied to Austin Guy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Do they have any other problems relating to coeliacs? My daughter has it but she's very tall and although of normal weight, she's very skinny. She looks underweight in her legs and arms. They're like sticks! -

ARCHIVED Testing The Boys
Mummyto3 replied to Mummyto3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Lol They've been booked in for Wed morning. Mine and hubby tested neg, but obviously that doesn't mean the boys will. Fingers crossed they do. I assume they would at least have the gene too... -
I spoke to a dr today and she said mine and hubbys test were neg but it doesn't exclude that we don't have coeliac. My levels were 0.3 and his just over 1. She said to ask more about it when my daughter has her biopsy tomorrow. I have the symptoms so not sure now... I don't think I'd bother with a biopsy, I may just go gluten free and see if I feel any...

ARCHIVED Biopsy Tomorrow
Mummyto3 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Its D-day tomorrow for my daughter. She's an emotional wreck this morning. Well, she's like it all the time but more so this morning. I've tried my best to calm her down and talk about whats going to happen. She asked me something I hadn't thought about, when the camera goes down into her intestine, how do they go about getting the biopsies? Does something... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Sensitive Or Celiac?
Mummyto3 replied to momna's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When my daughters blood was pos we were told to keep her on gluten until the biopsy. Perhaps thats why you biopsy was neg because you were already gluten free and also your dr only took samples from one area, so damaged areas were missed. -
ARCHIVED Dairy Intolerance After Being gluten-free For A Year?
Mummyto3 replied to melikamaui's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm no expert, but from all the research I've done, I have come across this. I asked our dietician about it but she said you can't get a dairy intolerance once you go gluten free. I don't accept this. I've posted this from Coeliac UK as I wanted you to have the right info rather than just from me x What is lactose intolerance and what are the... -

ARCHIVED In-Law Frustrations
Mummyto3 replied to melikamaui's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It totally agree! This is what I've found with relatives and the doctors who just won't listen! Thankfully since diagnosis both sides of our families have been great and very understanding. Although they don't go what we go through with illness and behavioural issues (when gluttened), the are sympathetic to what celiac disease means to our daughter.... -

We've finally made the decision to get my boys tested for celiac disease as their sister has tested positive. They're 7 and 3 and I'm so so worried how they'll react to a blood test

ARCHIVED Hi I'm New :)
Mummyto3 replied to come dance with me's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi, I'm another newbie. Been on here a month I think. My 9yr old daughter was diagnosed on 7th June, biopsy is on Tues but as her levels were very high, they're sure she'll test pos on biopsy. She has all the symptoms. -
is it free to create a blog? I was thinking about that myself.
-
It's all I read about, talk about and think about. Its driving me crazy lol Since my daugher was diagnose early last month, I wanted to find out as much info about it as I can and I'm still looking. I also want to be well informed if people ask questions, like today. My hubby and I are awaiting our results and we'll be testing boys too.
-
I assume it was in my genes for my daughter to get it, don't know if I'm right. I say it's from me because of family history of bowel problems. I rang today to check what was actually tested, thats when I found out they weren't back. I did consider asking for a copy thanks for advice x
-
Rang drs surgery yesterday for coeliac results and was told they were 'normal'. I rang back today to find out exactly what was tested (didn't think to ask yesterday) and was told they weren't back! We'd had other blood tests done at same time, which I mentioned and they were normal, which I was told on Monday/Tues. I was confused for a normal result as...

ARCHIVED Saying Hello And A Question
Mummyto3 replied to Notso's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This is something I've been thinking about constantly. My 9yr old was diagnosed last month, just waiting for biopsy. My hubby and I were tested via blood test, which came back 'normal'. We haven't tested our younger two. At the moment, I'm thinking we'll probably be mostly gluten free and will put on bright stickers for my daughter for things she can...
