  1. We use children's Tylenol and children's Motrin for my kids. I use Tylenol and Tylenol PM for myself for pain and fevers. God bless, Mariann
  2. Not all stamps would have gluten in the adhesive, but since it would be pretty hard to find out if they do or not, it is best to avoid ALL "lick-n-stick" types of things, like envelopes, kids stickers and stamps. God bless, Mariann
  3. I fould this online. I don't know if some brands have grain alcohols in them or not. You would need to check the specific brand that was used. I hope you are feeling better. God bless, Mariann
  4. The gluten particle is very small and it is certainly possible for a Celiac to get sick from the wheat dust flying around in the air. Last year I spoke with a woman who couldn't figure out why she was still having symptoms. It ended up that it was from the wheat dust from the hay when she was feeding her horses! She got a high quality dust mast to wear...
  5. Hi Gina, It can be a bit more of a challenge to be gluten-free and dairy free. I have been of dairy for 7 months and off gluten for almost 5 months. There are a lot of foods you can eat, you just have to be aware of all the things to avoid. I highly suggest that you push for the bloodwork before trying the diet and then if it is positive ask for the...
  6. emmeeann, Why don't you try to set small goals for yourself. Make it a goal to add one new food a day(or every other day!) to your regular diet. Not only should this help you not get too overwhelmed, but it will also help you recognise if something bothers you. You are a bit on the light side for 5'8", but it doesn't sound like you are skin and bones...

    ARCHIVED Magazines?

I think you have to order a subscription online. Then it will be mailed to you. I have never seen it in stores either. God bless, Mariann
  8. Hi Jala, Don't worry the diarrhea will come. I had to do a gluten challenge over the holidays last winter. It made the eating part of the holidays much simpler, but I did not enjoy it because I felt so bad. I was like you, I started with the bloating and constipation, but the diarrhea did eventually happen. I was back on gluten for 8 weeks, and...
  9. Open Original Shared Link The link above will take you directly to the Maui topic Laurie mentioned. It does not contain info about Honolulu though. Hope you have a wonderful gluten-free trip! God bless, Mariann
  10. Hi goddess, Gluten can have a delayed reaction in some people of a few hours, days, weeks or even months. Although some people know within minutes if they have had gluten this is not always the case. All the symptoms you described could be caused by Celiac Disease. In my opinion it would be a good idea to be tested for it. God bless, Mariann
  11. Susan, This is the response I got from Breyer's: Thank you for your recent inquiry about gluten. We currently do not have a gluten list, and are recommending consumers read the ingredient label on our cartons. If wheat, barley, or rye were used in a product, it would be clearly listed. The flavorings may contain ethyl alcohol. However, we cannot...
  12. You're welcome. God bless, Mariann
  13. Sorry, didn't mean to imply that the Rice Dream wasn't gluten-free. I am thinking (since I don't have any to read the labels) that the problem was with it containing casein, and the flavor didn't go over well the last time my kids tried it (pre-diet). I am just trying to find something that goes over well with the kids as far as taste goes. They liked...
  14. Hi Lisa922, You most likely have Celiac AND something wrong with your biliary system and/or pancreas. Your blood tests and biopsy show Celiac. So don't think just because you have other health problems that you were mis daignsosed. How are you doing on the gluten free diet? How long has it been since your diagnosis? And finally what does your doctor...
  15. Dental Screening (from Open Original Shared Link ) Case studies concerning enamel defects in children with celiac disease had been reported, but no large scale studies were published until 1986. In an examination of the teeth of the teeth of 86 celiac children, 96% of those with permanent teeth were found to have enamel defects and 75% of their permanent...
  16. Here are some articles about the research I mentioned. Almost all of the research in Celiac Disease is going on in Europe. So most of these articles are from European studies. I hope they are useful for you. I thought I had read one from the University of Chicago, but I can't find it now. I'm still looking though. Dental Enamel Defects and Screening...
  17. Hi Gillian, I'm sorry to hear about you having colitis. At least you know what is wrong and that you are doing well on the gluten-free diet with the Celiac Disease. When I had my colonoscopy my doctor took biopsies to test for microscopic colitis, she said there was a lot of inflammation in my colon, but since the biopsies were neg. for MC she didn't...
  18. Gillian, The only way you can be 100% sure is to either only eat "whole foods" like fresh veggies & fruits or meat/poultry/fish (and those you would pretty much have to hunt or raise yourself to guarantee something wasn't added later!). Anything else that is manufactured or packaged is suspect, but that does not mean you can't eat it. Just try to...
  19. Hi Tommy1976, You could always check into Enterolab. There are many different levels of gluten intolerance. If you have a lesser level then you will not have enough damage in your intestines to cause antibodies to leak out of the intestines into the blood stream. Enterolab tests for antibodies in the stool, since they are eliminated from the intestines...
  20. Hi Kim, I checked into polyglandular autoimmune disease, and it didn't sound like it was too nice of a disease! Celiac is nothing compared to it. It sounds like she is having circulatory problems and edema in that leg. What did her doctor have to say about it? It is probably what is giving her so much trouble and why she isn't thriving on the gluten...
  21. Good for you!!! I am looking forward to hearing what they say. God bless, Mariann
  22. Hi Robin, It is good that you are taking notes on what you are eating. Your daughter might have a problem with soy. Keep an eye on it. One out of three of my children is also intolerant to soy. He can handle it in small amounts (like a few pretzels made with soy flour or some candy with soy lecithin), but more than one serving of soy milk or soy pudding...
  23. Sometimes (but not often) the natural flavoring can contain gluten. Just call Breyers to check. There should be a number on the container. I also sent them an e-mail. I'll let you know what they say, if you don't already have an answer. God bless, Mariann
  24. HLA is the gene test. HLA-DQ2 & HLA-DQ8 are the two main genes for Celiac. There are also lesser genes for gluten intolerance, but most doctors don't test for them. God bless, Mariann
  25. Hi Ashley, I am a mom of three kids, ages 5, 7, & 9, and we are all gluten intolerant without Celiac. Only me and my daughter have the gene for Celiac Disease, but we don't have enough damage in the intestines to be called Celiac yet. (And I do not plan on waiting to get further damaged!) Celiac is just what they call the worst form of gluten intolerance...
