  1. That is kind of what I was figuring, thank you so much for that information Lisa! I have been looking on their website and couldn't find an answer.
  2. So my aunt is serving a ham with glaze from Harry and David. None of the ingredients listed indicate the presence of gluten. I called the customer service line and was told that since it's not actually labeled gluten free, that it was not gluten free. What am I supposed to think? Has anyone eaten this ham and been fine?
  3. I had very strong, painful bloating off and on the first two months I was gluten free, hang in there! I never gave up dairy, so that could have been the problem.

    ARCHIVED Finally!

Congrats to you and your hubby! I found out last week I am expecting #2 and am due 8-9, so we can be gluten free pregnancy buddies! Just yesterday the urgent need to eat (or otherwise vomit) kicked in, so I have to make sure I have plenty of snacks with me wherever I go . Best of luck to you!
  5. Don't know about a connection, but I was also told I had it this summer right before I decided to go gluten free. Mine was a pretty mild case, but my symptoms seem to have gotten better. The eye doc told me it was likely caused by wearing contacts too long, which I had worn probably an average of 3 weeks longer than I should have. I must have lost brain...
  6. Thanks for the reply amberskids. Part of the reason for my frustration is that the advice from her doctor seems like a "stock" answer for a kid with constipation and does not take into account my child's history (of frequent large and loose BMs). I am so discouraged and feel like I am on my own.
  7. Well, its been 5 days of gluten free, but 3 of those days were on mega doses of laxitives to clear out her system. I am really kind of annoyed b/c I never really believed she was impacted. The nurse told me to expect hard stool, followed by sticky stool, followed by watery diar. a day later when we started. Well DD went straight to watery diar 4 hours...
  8. It sound as though your ped is on the ball, I am glad you were able to get the wheat intolerance diagnosis for school, that is really what worries me. AS long as the little ones feel better, that is all that matters IMO.
  9. I suspect gluten because she tested negative for parasites and h. pylori. Her reducing substances tests were also negative, which is the test for fructose intolerance. Her tests for lactose intolerance were also all negative. Not to mention the positive rsponse I have had on the diet.
  10. I guess I really won't know until she is completely gluten free... As long as her symtoms improve I don't really think I care too much about the diagnosis at this point. I don't think it would be too hard for me to get one of her Drs. to label her gluten intolerant for school purposes if the gluten challenge doesn't work out. What are others experiences...
  11. An update - I am not sure what to think anymore. A little background: My DD began having D at the age of 13 months 4 to 5 times per day that continued for nearly 2 months. Her height is in the 95th percentile, and her weight is in the 60th percentile, so good there but she has an enormous appetite. Her celiac bw came back normal, which is not uncommon...
  12. I made it tonight too Marilyn! I went ahead and filled it and covered it so it wouldn't have a film on top. I think there are lots of other options for this crust, I think next time I am going to try a strawberry filling, can't wait!!
  13. My great grandmother (moms side) was from Scotland and her husband was from Norway. My mom's dad's family was from Germany. My father's father's family were early American pioneers from England, But their ancestors originated from France. we don't know about my dad's mom as she was adopted.
  14. My 18 mo DD just started taking Zantac 2 weeks ago. She hasn't been napping as long as she usually does, only 1 hour when she usually naps for at least 3 hrs. after lunch. She has also been waking up really upset, whereas she usually wakes up and talks to herself in her crib for a while before I go in and get her up. Today and the day before yesterday...
  15. You are very welcome Bartfull! I was happy to stumble across that recipe too!! I think I am also going to make some pumpkin fudge... A friend made this and said it was unbelivable! Open Original Shared Link I was going to try to make cornbread stuffing using the Bob's Red Mill mix (I always previously used stove top). Does anyone have any suggestions...
  16. OMG - I just found this chocotae pie with a meringue shell! Can't wait to try it Open Original Shared Link
  17. Love it! I live in FW, can't wait to try it out!
  18. Just curious, what flours are in the cup 4 cup?
  19. Thank you for all the input! Last night I made waffles from the gfb using the blend I mentioned above, and they tasted really good!! I was so excited, especially since I expected it to taste as awful at the bisquick pizza crust I made last week . I am so relieved to know I can continue baking and share those precious memories with my daughter! The...
  20. When you said all his behaviors are intense, like the loud tv, it made me think about sensory processing disorder. An occupational therapist would be the professional to take him to to have him evaluated and treated for this condition. I believe early intervention ( before school starts) can be critical to success or failure in an educational environment...
  21. I looked at the reviews for this, and one poster said she uses this for cake balls! I love makin cake balls, can't waitti try it out, thank you so much!!
  22. Oh baking queen I wish I had seen your post before I went shopping today. My hubby bought me " The gluten-free Bible" and I thought I would try the blend the author suggests. It's one cup of each: white rice flour, tapioca flour, sorgum flour, cornstarch, and almond flour. I plan to bake the chocolate fudge cookies in the the same book tonight. I will...
  23. I really enjoy making cakes and cookies. I want to try the peanut butter cookies, but DD can't have nuts until 2 yrs old. I love cake decorating as a hobby and have a Betty crocker chocolate mix in the pantry so I will try that first. Hubby's birthday is coming up and I'm afraid he's not going to like it when I tell him I'm not going to make his favorite...
  24. Typed on my phone - sorry for typos! I am finally getting up the nerve to try some gluten-free baking after nearly 4 months gluten free since the holidays are approaching. I also want to share my love of baking with my daughter and have realized I don't want to give up the fun of baking and the special memories we will make together. Some of my best...
