    ARCHIVED Coffee Ugh!

I have never been able to tolerate coffee. Even when I sneaked it when I was little it made me sick to my stomach. Now I feel terrible all over when I drink it.
  2. It seems like when I think I'm glutened (I haven't purposefully eaten gluten since giving it up 7/15/11) I get different symptoms. Sometimes I am so constipated and bloated I think I am going to pop, sometimes I get D, sometimes I get the return of joint pain in my wrists, sometimes my face breaks out with acne and my armpits itch like crazy, and sometimes...
  3. I have had a scalloped tongue frOm pressing against my teeth for as long as I can remember. I too have been extremely thirsty for the last couple of years. I have been gluten free for 8 weeks and I just checked my tongue and it is still scalloped. Who knows?
  4. I too am so very sorry for your loss! There is nothing worse than having your constant, very best buddy leave your side. I hope you begin to feel better soon! It will get better! I too thank thank you for all your knowledge and support on this forum, I frequently think of your words during the day and I have begun this new gluten free lifestyle.
  5. I have heard about chobani and orikos. Never tried Greek yogurt myself but I want to . I have seen them next to all the other yogurt at the grocery store.
  6. Please forgive my ignorance, but if you are diabetic and your daughter is pre-diabetic/insulin resistant, shouldn't you both be eating a low carb diet? In the same breath you said you eat white bread and mashed potatoes but can't get your diabetes under control. Try eating a low volume nutritious diet like some others have suggested. You may find that...
  7. You might consider getting rid of EVERYTHING in the house that could sabatoge her diet, including your husband's goodies. If it's not there, she can't eat it. He can always go out for ice cream, or take the whole family once a week for a special treat if she's been trying her best to adhere to the diet. I agree that she has to learn to make good choices...
  8. I think I will try to go dairy free for a couple of days to see if it makes a difference. Thanks Takala! I was also wondering if food allergies I had as a child might be bothering me now since going gluten free. I was never tested but my tongue always itched after eating pecans/walnuts, avocados, cantalope, and bananas. I don't get an itchy tongue anymore...
  9. Hi everyone I will be coming up on 5 weeks of being gluten free tomorrow. Since the day after I cut out gluten I have been bloated off and on, and more frequently lately. I have been trying to do my best to avoid gluten and CC, but have probably been glutened 3 times due to CC at restaurants since I started. Could those instances of CC be contributing...
  10. The Dr. got back with me and said as long as it wasn't black, she wasn't worried about it. I do feel the very dark foods contributed to the color and I haven't seen the dark coffee grounds since I posted this last week. She is still having diarrhea however, it seems the lactaid milk only helped for about a week, sigh...
  11. I made heuvos rancheros (sp)? and it was delish! Sauteed some onion then simmered a can of rotel tomatoes with the onion until thickened. Poached eggs right on top of the tomatoes and served on a crisp corn tortilla with refried beans and shredded cheese. Very good and filling, even my 15 mo. old gobbled it up
  12. I have been gluten-free for a month, and for me meal planning is very easy. As it turns out I didn't eat that much gluten to begin with and have always been a whole foods shopper for the most part. I have started eating more eggs for breakfast and replaced corn tortillas for sandwich bread and gluten-free cereal for my beloved Cheerios and oatmeal. ...

    ARCHIVED Caffeine?

I feel pretty awful if I drink caffiene, especially coffee. Thank God chocolate doesn't affect me negatively, lol!
  14. I noticed my grays disappeared when I was pregnant. It has been said autoimmune disorders often go into remission during pregnancy. I have been gluten-free for a month and hopefully I will see them disappear again!
  15. I would worry about CC with the blizzards b/c I don't know if they clean out the equipment in between orders. I just went there Sat. night and got the hot fugde sundae. Yummy!
  16. Thank you for the replies, I emailed the Dr. last night and her nurse emailed me back and told me that she would follow-up with the Dr about it. I'm sure she'll want me to bring in another sample. This morning her stool wasn't nearly as grainy, I caved and gave her back the bottle with lactaid last night and this morning. I guess we will fight the bottle...
  17. So the wierd poop just won't stop... DD began having diarrhea first of June, and it began to become more "normal" after a week on lactaid milk which we started the first of August (lactose intolerance test was negative by the way). On Monday I started trying to wean her from the bottle (she's 15 mos old) since her bowel issues seemed to have cleared...
  18. My celiac panel was negative, but after researching the topics on this board I am still convinced my issues are due to eating gluten. I have been gluten-free for nearly 4 weeks and the joint pain and fatigue are gone. I am so encouraged to keep going and am very hopeful my other issues will resolve after being on the diet longer. I had an MRI last fall...
  19. Yay for you! I am coming up on a month gluten free and my joint pain and fatigue are gone. Face has cleared up quite a bit too! It's funny you mention funnel cake as your most desired gluten item, it's the one thing I would never in a million years touch! Got sick from eating one at Six Flags when I was 8 or so. I don't miss gluten all all either, in...
  20. My new favorite sweet treat are frozen bananas. I like to put choc. syrup on top. You could even make frozen banana pops, dip in chocolate and sprinkles, coconut, mini m&m's, etc....
  21. This is what my daughter's poop looks like much of the time, she is 15 mos old and has been having chronic diarrhea for the last 2 months. When it isn't this color, it is dark brown, but is the same consistency. We have had her on lactaid milk since Saturday and her poop was starting to look more normal, but as of this morning we are back to the nasty diarrhea...
  22. I am sensitive to caffine too. I always say it feels as though I can feel the blood pumping thru my veins after I drink it, especially coffee. Headaches too...
  23. Yes, Jennifer, isn't gluten intolerance glamorous?
  24. Thanks for asking this question, I was wondering the same thing myself!
  25. Oh no, I hope I don't have to give up oatmeal! Thanks for the tip though. Ana, I feel so good I don't imagine I will ever go back to eating gluten again. Hopefully like you I will see the neuro symptoms improve at some point. `
