Summer, I personally have not been on the Neurontin but if you decide to try it let us know if it works for you. I have had the same issues you are describing, found B12 just doesn't quite do the job for me. Did some reading on WSN Nerve Support which is a B complex that helps people with neuro issues, many are diabetic and MS patients. It's a bit expensive...

ARCHIVED How Much Vitamin D Are You Taking?
AVR1962 replied to AVR1962's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Can I ask what symptoms you were having? Was doc's advise based on a vit test? How do you feel now compared to before? -
ARCHIVED Neurological Symptoms And Gluten Free Diet?
AVR1962 replied to 175comet's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You've described the symptoms of alot of us here, including myself. It would be interesting to know if when you felt relief from your symptoms if you were supplementing? spending more time in the sun? or had to be able go a length of time without ingesting gluten? All could make the difference. When I had my MRI and braced myself as I felt there would... -
What started out as blurred vision went to double vision. Then I was having trouble with depth perception and felt like the lane I was driving in was too tiny. Ended up driving to close to a median, hit it just right and ended up with a flat at a fairly good rate of speed. Then I started having vertigo issues.....blinds on the windows were "blinding" to look...

ARCHIVED Gut Healing Support
AVR1962 replied to meinelse's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'd appreciate that. Good luck with your doc! I go back in 2 weeks to get the results of my MRI and my diabetes test. I was reading an interesting article last night that links yeast to problems with ataxia also but when I looked at the diet, with the exception of a piece of fruit a day I am eating a fairly yeast-free diet. Have you found any connections... -
I'm posting this out of concern for my 26 year old daughter. She has been gluten-free/dairy-free for 2 years. Was still having pain in her joints and in her bones so went off corn as well. The only grain she is taking in right now is rice. She is not eating high fructose or corn syrup. As she has takes thing out of her diet she feels like she is doing better...

ARCHIVED Intro And Need Some Help And Advice
AVR1962 replied to shayori's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
The thing about the intolerances you have mentioned is they could always be an issue. It's hard to say if you will be able to introduce them back into your diet with having issues. There's a lot of factors involved when it comes to getting better....how much damage has been done, what damage has been done, what you are doing to correct any damage, I too believe... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
AVR1962 replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I made a batch of homemade noodles. Boiled up a chicken, deboned it into the broth, added the noodles. This is a dish that is a tradition in our family. We eat it over mashed potatoes. Noodles turned out great!! -
Denise, so many here have had to do just like you, myself included. I also knew something was wrong. I was having vision issues and increasingly tired, docs blew me off. Feb, after a liver cleanse, I was in ER. My medical issues finally came to life after the cleanse and I was miserable. Even in ER with my heart going nuts they had no clue. I had a list of...

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Have These Symptoms
AVR1962 replied to dressagegal1986's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The burning you are feeling when you put something into your stomach is acid. You will need to protect your stomach. If doc did not prescribe something for the burning you can try antacids. One prevacid a day is probabaly not enough. I was taking 2 Nexium a day and doing doses of Pepto in between which I did for 3 months because my stomach was so bad before... -
ARCHIVED Using Rice Flour
AVR1962 replied to lemontree1's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Rice flour is my preferance flour mostly because of the flavor. If I use a mixed flour, I will still mix in more rice flour, mostly becasue of the taste. -

I would be very interested in hearing what your neurologist tells you at your appt. I have been dealing with ataxia & vertigo issues for 8 months now. I have had very little help from my docs. I did increase my vit D intake which has helped. -
ARCHIVED Dangers Of Ignoring Celiac
AVR1962 replied to blythiee's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
What can happen too is there is this time called the romance period when young people can seemingly eat gluten again. This happened as the hormones change. Most will then have a flare-up in their 20's. Read about it, it might help you. -
Could it bee spice you are feeling? For the longest time I could not put spiec in my diet, still have to be careful.

ARCHIVED In Pain And Feeling Depressed
AVR1962 replied to hazesdaze's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My reaction to gluten lasts 3 weeks. It gets easier within the 3 week time but I will go to any length to avoid it. It sound slike you have an answer and if it is the glutens that are causing the problem, you will get better the longer you stay away from them. -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed
AVR1962 replied to Jenni121's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Read labels. There is a great list of acceptable and not accepted foods on this site that will help you understand what to look for. Check everything though.....chapstick, soy sauce, cooking spray, ice cream, marinades. Oats are accepted but I would not chance them unless they were labeled gluten-free. A food journal will help. Keep it simple, go with a raw... -
ARCHIVED Sometimes It's Hard ...
AVR1962 replied to Alex163's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Goodness, this sounds like me when my calcium went high. I think your husband might benefit from a vitamin test to see where he is. When the glutens affect the body they don't just effect the villa in the intestines. In many cases they will swell other organs. One that is common is the parathyroid which regulates calcium to the body and seritonin to the brain... -
ARCHIVED Heart Palpitations?
AVR1962 replied to kathleenp's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes. My palpitations which I had for years went away once I was on a gluten-free diet and started supplementing with the nutrients my body needed. I was very surprised. -
What do you use to make your pie crust? I made one yesterday, held together for kneading but then cracked while I rolled it out. I managed but then it burned real easy too. I used 3/4 Bob's Red Mill pizza crust mix to 1/4 all purpose gluten-free flour which was mostly rice flour.

ARCHIVED Do I Have Celiac Disease
AVR1962 replied to contrarianrevolution's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
If a person is having a problem with gluten, it very much can affect their mood. I would suggest going off glutens for at least 2 months as an experiemnt fo yourself to see if it improves your apathy. No harm done to experiment.
