ARCHIVED My Story Of Gluten Poisoning...
AVR1962 replied to Robert M.'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome Robert! Sounds like you found your answer and I wish you all the best in figuring out the diet and what works for you, we're all a little different in our own needs here and at the same time a great deal of wealth of info among us. If you have not had a vit and mineral bloodwork test, I would request that. It is very common for us to be deficient... -
So good to hear a wonderful success story. I too don't get what docs are looking at.....all I do know is if I was depending on them and following only their advise, I would be in a world of hurt right now. Good for you for taking this on your owna nd figuring out what your body needed!!

Best to you with this. It would be nice if you could still be going thru a withdrawl stage but 6/7 months out, it is probabaly not the case. I know you said your vits levels are fine. Are you having any other symptoms besides high blood pressure and chest pains? For me, I really think it was my vit d supplementing that helped bring down my BP. My BP stayed...

Good on the weigh-in GlutenFreeMama! I am a cheese lover myself. Aged hard cheeses lose their lactose so you might consider them instead of the newer soft cheeses. I eat nothing labeled with lactose. Any milk I drink is eithr rice or almond. You can make it work and feeling better is so much nicer! -
ARCHIVED Being Tested For Celiac Disease
AVR1962 replied to scifigirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My husband went on a low carb diet and he started reacting to it. Carbs actually help break down pruines on the body and so with the lack of it in his diet it caused it gout to flare up. He went off, did not have a reaction to carbs when he went back to eating bread and pasta. A low carb diet probabaly did not trigger celiac but it is possible that by... -
I had terrible GERD, pain was constant, 5 months of Nexium and a low acid diet. Gluten response: generally sick stomach headache brain fog tired dizzy the first week is the worst. By week 2 I normally only have the dizziness left and that will last over 3 weeks total. The rest of my symptoms are related to lack of absorbsrtion.

ARCHIVED What Is Considered Too Much Vitamin D ?
AVR1962 replied to strausserc's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for this reply. Could you tell the difference in your body from being so low compared to actually being able to absorb and backing off? Mine is very noticable for me. I get my bloodwork this next week and will talk to doc about it. -
ARCHIVED Me + Non Gluten Free Family= How?
AVR1962 replied to this-sucks's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a teen at home and am married, neither of them are gluten-free. We had some adjusting to do mostly to keep the kitchen safe. Everyone needs to learn how to glob drop jelly, mustard, mayo.....that means no knife goes in the jar, it is simply dropped as a glob OR they have to use the rule that once the knife is used there is no double dipping.....you... -
That would concern me too. Are docs thinking of putting on prescription meds?

Prickly, you are so right about this and that's what we have to keep in mind!

ARCHIVED Force Factor
AVR1962 replied to Worriedwife's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That actually should be fine. Many of us here have benefitted from Glutamine. The only word of advise I have about supplementing is to not take supplements with certian prescribed meds. I am on a thyroid med and doc told me to allow 4-6 hours before taking the supplements as there binders in the supplements that could attach to the prescribed meds and make... -
ARCHIVED Exhaustion, Anemia, Gi/flatulence/headaches
AVR1962 replied to astrologer50's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Just remember you have to be eating gluten for at least 2 months prior to testing for celiac. Tests are not real reliable so if they come back negative don't worry. You can go on a gluten-free diet yourself to see if your condition improves. I have a feeling buyt your symptoms that gluten is the problem and I think you will be surprised what happens when... -
ARCHIVED I Think My GI Is An Idiot
AVR1962 replied to DonnaMM's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hope you are going to a gluten free diet, sounds like your body is need of repair! I do not know how some docs get their degree! -
I think it is a growing fad for some people and I think that's part of the reason it is not getting the proper view from some, it's kind of like a "yeah, yeah, yeah whatever" attitude, like it is something that's going to pass, like we have a choice. In our case it is not about a matter of choice and that's what they are clueless about. I was at dinner...

Here's a foods list and some very good info about vit D: Open Original Shared Link -
I don't know if this helps at all but I will share what happened to me. Perhaps not your situation. I am 48, never had high blood pressure ever in my life, if anything it bordered low. I went on 3 month liver cleanse to speed up my metabolism. That sped up my heart like nuts. First 2 months I was fine but then it hit me overnight and ended up in ER with chest...

Welcome, and good for you for going off gluten! You mentioned doc wanted to test you for MS.....are you having neuro symptoms? What are you doing for them? -
Have you had blood work for vit and mineral levels? Are you eating salty foods? Does this run in your family? What other symptoms are you having, if any?

Goodness, no fun with the stomach! I had to cut dairy out as well. I can eat aged cheeses but I stay away from butter and milk. -

ARCHIVED What Is Considered Too Much Vitamin D ?
AVR1962 replied to strausserc's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Vitamin d is one of those vits that our body does not produce. We actually receive it from the sun thru our skin and that is the best source for our bodies. However, many of here have asked this same question as many of us suffer from lack of vit d. If the body is having trouble absorbing in the first place, we are only getting part of the nutritional benefits... -
