  1. Sad enough that does make sense. Thanks for sharing that with me IrishHeart.
  2. The thing that jumped out at me in your post is your fiances wondering if he had a wrong diagnosis, most likely not the case and infact his other issues may have been from the underlying celiac. Gluten does terrible terrible things to the body. I would be overwhelmed too if I was taking this on for someone else but I tell you, read learn and it will make...
  3. You are right on the money with this one!!!
  4. Thanks for the reply on the sciatic nerve. Have had back issues for years (hurts no matter what I do) and reoccurring sciatica for the past 2. Luckily it only runs down the back of my left leg but my whole back feels stiff and then my neck gets stiff. I do the stretches and exercises, have an inversion table that I use and have had massages. I sleep with...
  5. As hard as it is to realize, and for all the good I thought I was doing for everyone else, I ultimately was the one that paid the price as I really do not feel I would be in this boat had I not knocked my head against a brick wall for so many years. However, the past is the past and all I can do now is press forward with a new future for myself. IrishHeart...
  6. Thank you for this info, I found ir very helpful!
  7. So many of us here in the thread are a little bit olderly which leads me to a question I have been pondering for awhile, as I am still asking myself "how is this possible?" at time. I had a liver cleanse that according to the doc revieled my under-lying health issues, okay get that and it makes sense. I do think I ave had this since birth as I can look back...
  8. Navigator, that is great news, I know you have been thru alot. I'll be 49 next month so I hear you about starting over in our "prime," I will call it!!
  9. A+ here! Sounds like I am reporting a grade!! Oddly enough I have looked at my blood type diet, Swedish decent, and the foods I have been forced to eat to get my vits levels where they need to be are the exact foods on the blood type diet and the diet of the Swedish.....lots of fish!
  10. Sorry to hear this. I too get bone pain when I get glutened. Does yours pass? Or does it come back without being glutened? Lack of vit D or inflammations can cause the pain as well. I have had a terrible time with my back and shooting pain down my left leg (scyatic nerve pain), stiff neck. I found a herbal anti-inflammatory tht seems to be helping quite a...
  11. I have 4 grandkids, all on gluten-free diets. None have been doagnosed with celiac and none have gone thru all the testing like your little guy. You have to do what is best for his health and by the sounds of it he needs to try a gluten-free diet. THere may be some deficiencies going on if there was mention of nerve damage. If labs were done I would ask for...
  12. Good for you Judy! It really is amazing how much our lives change once we go off gluten, how we see our past differently, and how we look at life today. It is like starting all over but we have also been givena new life, a life we haven't been able to live before, one of better health. I too have learned to make some pretty yummy gluten-free dishes and my...
  13. For me that would mean that my magnesium and/or potassium levels are low. I would consider it a neuro issue.
  14. Depends on the situations for me. Among people I don't know, or don't now well, I am like you.....I don't care for everyone to know my business. Every has theirtake on any given subject and sometimes the things people say are really not what I want to hear so keeping to myself is smart in these mixed situations. I might tell someone that I wsn't hungry or...
  15. I'm assuming that you are talking about your stomach. If this is the case, your stomach is more than likely tore up a bit. If you are having any burning, it is acid in the stomach which can do alot of damage and you will need to take steps to protect the stomach by using antacids. Sometimes when the stomach is sensative from all the awful things that have...
  16. That is awesome news and I am glad your dad agreed to go off gluten. My grandfather, I am positive, would have improved had he gone off too. He was dizzy the last several years of his life, had lost taste, lost his appetite, had terrible stomach issues. In the end he had colon cancer that eventually went to his bones. Shortly after he passed this past Jan...
  17. Wonderful news on your progress as well. I know there was several of us that joined the group right about the same time and it seems we've all progressed, learned and been able to help others. I am glad you will have a special Thanksgiving this year, far from the mishaps from the past. I hear you with the symptoms. My heart aches when I read the post of the...
  18. Yes, you do have to listen to your body. And no, most of my help did not come from my docs. I received most of my help from the Internet, the group here, and someone I know that has celiac. I think there is alot of medicine that has not yet been written in the books, as we seem to be finding right here on this forum.....thank goodness we live in the computer...
  19. Good for you, glad you're are doing so much better! I too had to do much like yourself, still on a low acidic diet for the same reason. Our bodies are just amazing, they try so hard to keep functioning.....we just have to figure out what we need and can't have, and that takes awhile bt you did it! I too just posted on my own progress today.....it was...
  20. Energy is a tough one, been struggling a bit with it myself with the lack of sunshine. I did want to share with you ladies a website that helps you tab your calories if anyone is interested. It is free unless you want personal guidence and then there is a monthly fee for a better membership. For me, I find it really shows me what my diet looks like when...
  21. I wanted to be sure of what I have been feeling, waited a week to share......I am no longer dizzy!!!! I have been gluten-free since April, made tons of mistakes with my diet but I did it. I have no doubt that my ataxia was gluten related. The strict diet has paid off! Nine months ago today I was in ER with my heart racing, palpitations and high blood pressure...
  22. Sorry you're under the weather. I hope it is not gluten....seems like everything else passes faster. Take care of yourself!
  23. Hang in there! This is common and I understand perfectly, been thru it myself. It does get better. You have to be consistant and you have to figure out what your body needs, or doesn't need. Besides reacting to various foods and in need for our systems to repair, many of us deal with absorbtion problems which lead to many of our symptoms, and unfortunately...
  24. I am the same. It is like the alcohol goes straight to my veins. I had to stay away from red wine completely becaue it is too hard on my stomach but I will also because dizzy the next day. I read on this because I wanted ot kn ow what was going on. My system is still repairing, very sensative right now and foods that would not have bothered me before are...
  25. I do wish you alot of luck with this. Doc wanted me to do the same but I could not, tried, made it to day 12. And in just that little bit of time it was a set back to me. If you get too miserable, really think what is happening to your body. You don't have to get a scope to get a diagnosis. That is the only way at one time but many, like myself, or being...
