  1. Received a wonderful article from a Celiac friend. Was reading it to my husband who is asthmatic, was recently tested for diabetes which runs in his family, has weight issues and yes, the belly. His response to the article, "If you beleive everything you read on the Internet you'd be eating nothing but carrots." Can you believe? The denial for people is just...
  2. Prickly, I've seen this posted before about the reaction to iodione in connection to the thyroid. Could you explain? I am on an iodized med to shrink a growth on my thyroid but unfortunately after over 6 months on the meds it has not gotten smaller and now looks suspicious so I am having a biopsy done later this month.
  3. Read up on the cod liver oil, it is very very good stuff. Will help many things, not just the eyes. My doc says everyone should be taking cod liver oil. Do take your vits with a meal to help with absorbtion and eliminate possible nausea. Sounds like you are on the right track!
  4. Awesome! Glad your trip went well. You were really lucky with the extra seats, those flights are normally booked solid. We fly out of Frankfurt, live about an hour from the airport. Going stateside you can count on the trip being a 24 hour odeal by the time you land. What part of Croatia were you? I've been to Dubrovnik, very nice. Lived in Italy for 2 years...
  5. My most troublesome symptom is the dizziness. The bloating and the digestive issues, the brain fog, depression, headche, and being tired leave after 3 days but if I have one grain o gluten I will be constantly dizziness for 3+ weeks and that is not fun!
  6. I was treated for an ulcer, also had terrible GERD. It was so bad that it felt like the whole lining of my stomach had been torn and gasoline thrown in my stomach and a match lit.....it burned like you would not beleive. My stomach was bad. I too would get that full feeling and at first I thought it was because I was eating gluten-free bread and I thought...
  7. Try to take a light diet with her, boiled chicken but not much meat per serving. Rice or potatoes are good, eggs if she has no reaction, things that are easy on the stomach. I would take out anything acidic as these could be irritating her.....tomatoes, oranges, etc. You might even consider taking her off dairy as well. Unfortunately all too many times many...
  8. IrishHeart, I have a friend who is Celiac and she told me the same thing. I keep saying I hope one day I am not as sensative and that very well may be the case. I definately am still very much in the healing stages. I was able to back off my D vit but everything else is still in the works. I was able to have tomatoes four days in a row whereas before I could...
  9. Initially I shied away too because of the malt but when I looked them up and realized they were sugars I tried them and have had no problem. I wouod have definately felt it if they were problematic.
  10. Your description of feeling like you have the flu are very words that came out of my mouth when I was trying to describe my weakness. Your symptoms are very similiar to mine in the beginning, not knowing what was going on. I am a 48 year old female and I had been having symptoms for 2 years but all were vague. This does continue to progress and with the dizziness...
  11. Alot of times to get poeple to understand I use the comparison to ditabetes. While not everyone knows exactly what a diabetic can and cannot eat, they are aware to some degree and people take it seriously, that's because there has been more awareness towards the disease. Just like a person with diabetes can become very ill from too much sugar, your daughter...
  12. Goodness, reading your post I wanted to jump thru the computer and tell you to get off the gluten. I had so so so much trouble with my stomach. Docs are very good about throwing aprescript at you without looking any further and funny how things deadend so quickly when they do take the extra step. You have described my symptoms as a younger person very...
  13. Can your son eat yogurt? I would encourage this on a daily basis and if he cannot eat yogurt or doesn't like it I would look into a probiotic for children. One of my girls had a real tough time, caught everything that came around and more. Doc suggested cultured milk (yogurt drinks) and yogurt and while she would be consistant she would do well but it is...
  14. I agree with changing the doc. I wish there was such a thing as a celiac specialist, seems so many are cluelss. Do you have any University Hospitals near you? I have had real good results with them. You are getting conflicting messages with the results and testing. What you are delaing with concerning your slightly low iron levels, hair falling out, and low...
  15. Good to hear! Life can throw us some mighty powerful curved balls at time and there is absolutely nothing wrong with reaching out for help. When all my symptoms came to a head so much other stuff was going on in my life and my head just could not comprehend it all. I went to a counselor weekly for 8 months and it helped me alot. I wish you the best!
  16. RiceGuy, thank you. I have some buckwheat flour sitting in my cupboard, I will give it a try. I have never made noodles with eggs, how is that possible? I would think the batter would fall apart. Are your noodles rolled out?
  17. One day while drinking almond milk, same brand that I had drank before but chose almond instead, I got so sick. Looked at the ingredients and that's what was in it. It is in some ice cream and ice cream cakes. I am really really hoping that one day I am not so sensative! Thanksgiving desserts were a bit depressing as I read the labels. Even those cheese balls...
  18. Thanks IrishHeart, read the link, soundslike some really good stuff. Think I will have to give it and the borron a try.
  19. Glad you got that figured out. The extra iron could have messed you up a little bit and you might be recoverying but it should not take long. What you are taking now is very safe and you should be good. I had a similiar situation recently with vit D....had been struggling to get my levels up and then finally I was over my count without knowing. I became...
  20. Wonderful! Glad you are seeing some improvement. I so totally agree, this site has saved my life. Keep getting better.
  21. Thanks! I will look into this.
  22. I did put gelatin in my pie crust and it worked fine. Tried it in my noodles and it didn't work out so well.
  23. Xanthan gum upsets my stomach, kind of feels like someone hit me in the stomach. No digestive issues but still, my stomach is upset and doesn't feel nice. Guar guum does give me digestive issues and I will be dizzy for 3 days. The worst of any of them, for me, is carrageenan.....oh boy, talk about make me sick.....digestive issues, feel like I have the flu...
  24. Guess I need to reread my post, my eyes read magnesium. So what is manganese, and did you find it helped?
  25. Had a similiar post just a few days ago, killer back pain....back feels like it is frozen. Have done so much to try and alieviate the pain. Found this and have decided to increase my magnesium in attempt. Last night I did take aspercream to my whole spine and neck, better today. Open Original Shared Link
