  1. Good to know, Laura. I'll ask about it next time I see the doctor. Thanks.
  2. No, she hasn't mentioned physical therapy. Worth checking in to. I have been closed off to the idea of Botox injection and surgery... I'll have to try the Kegel exercises. Again, that too is not so much emphasized by the doctors. Apparently, medicine is supposed to cure all ails. Thanks for your input.
  3. Hey ya'll, I'm in my early 20's and diagnosed with celiac in 2011. In 2013, I noticed I was having some urinary leakage. I was deceived into thinking it was normal and think that when I was more healed with my celiac the leakage would go away. I still have symptoms of celiac even with gluten free diet. (mainly urgency after eating, irritable bowel gas...
  4. Congratulations! I know it's hard but that is the best attitude. I strive for that, too, but still struggle sometimes. We have a choice. Keep looking up:)
  5. Oh yeah! Here's the link! Open Original Shared Link
  6. Have you heard of the specific carbohydrate diet? It's used to help heal digestive disease. I got on it and after 2 day I could notice a difference. I have a mild form of C and I'm in my 20's and I'm afraid it will get worse if I don't get it under control. I ran across this website http://pecanbread.com/p/how/coprotocol.htm . The diet she is referring to...
  7. When eating at restaurants, I ask for the manager and ask questions about how exactly they cook it (what kind of seasonings, is it made with the same grease that something has been fried in, separate utensils from gluten food...). Sometimes you can feel them out and see if they have any clue with what you are talking about. If I don't think they have a clue...
  8. For those of you who have kids: I ran across a gluten free camp for kids that is held every summer in Gilmer, TX. All the meals and snacks are gluten free. (There's a sample menu on the site.) Can't think of a better camp to send kids who eat gluten free...no worrying about what to eat!! Here's the link! Open Original Shared Link
  9. It sounds like you may be overexerting yourself. I'm in college with a rigorous courseload, too. Very stressful. I always find that I do SO much better at home on breaks - even though I eat the same gluten-free things as in college. I've learned the amount of stress (knowingly or unknowingly) I have directly affects how I'm feeling. I kept hearing that stress...
  10. Chipotle is great! I always go there when I want gluten free food. They are very conscientious about the CC thing. Hope you can find a job you enjoy!
  11. Don't be pushed by your problems. Be led by your dreams.

  12. Doesn't sound like they are digesting. Nuts are hard to digest. I've learned we have to 'listen to our body,' since no one person is the same. If something doesn't suit us well, it's best to stay away from it. Otherwise, we keep our intestines inflamed and prevent healing from occurring.
  13. I agree, GFinDC. Ali, I just wanted to say that I was told the same thing when I was first diagnosed- "lay off on sugar, starches, dairy, processed foods etc." and I didn't listen... If it's gluten free, isn't that enough?! And...I wish I would have listened to that advice sooner! I believe it would have sped up the healing process. I was told I would...
  14. So sorry I am just now seeing your post! I'm sorry to hear about your son. You can't eat any better foods than the whole foods. That's really encouraging that he has no symptoms. Actually, the yogurt is really easy to make. I ordered my yogurt maker from Open Original Shared Link . Make sure you ask for the SCD yogurt starter. They send the directions and...
  15. Romans 4 18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.”[d] 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah’s womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power...

  16. That is amazing!! Praise God!! To react to gluten in such a way then suddenly not react at all, sounds nothing short of a miracle to me. Don't question it! Thanks for your encouraging post!
  17. I'm planning on starting the specific carbohydrate diet soon....The SCD diet is based off of Elaine Gottschall's book Breaking the Vicious Cycle. It cuts out grains, sugars, processed foods and many other foods that cause problems. It is a very strict diet and needs 100% adherence, but I've heard testimonies of so many people healing their intestines because...
  18. Thanks for the response. I had almost wanted to give up probiotics, because I can't see it making a difference. Glad you are seeing good results of taking them after all that time. I'll keep taking them!
  19. Interesting you posted this today. I have celiac (symptomatic)...and just found out today my mother is on the edge of being osteoporotic. Also, she has some Italian blood (not sure if that contributes to the risk factor, think it might). Of course, asymptomatic, too. Good informational post but makes me worried for those who could have it and not know. Have...
  20. My question kind of relates to this post...but how long does it take to notice the effects of the probiotics? Could we see a difference in a couple days or does it take weeks?
  21. So sorry to hear Yes, I agree. It's worth the fight back to health. I'm still working on my own, but I can't wait to feel better again. Whatever it takes!!! Keep pressing on!!!
  22. What I understand regarding the nervous system and the GI system, is that they are interrelated. When one is not working, the other is not working and vice versa. Our guts produce more serotonin (the feel-good hormone) than our brains. (About 80% of the serotonin in our body is in the gut!!) So, naturally, it seems to make sense that when we are not feeling...
  23. You went to Italy?! I've always wanted to go there, but am hesitant because of the gluten issue. I've heard they are celiac-conscious, is that true? What did you eat then? Pshh, weird is the new normal. Haven't you heard?
  24. "Anyone successfully find happiness with this? I'm failing miserably at it." Like others, have mentioned it will take time to adjust (I'm still adjusting). It's a pain, yes. Not meaning to impose my beliefs on you and I don't know where you stand with regards to faith. But honestly for me, because of my relationship with Jesus Christ, I can still choose...
