ARCHIVED Vitamin Code Raw Supplements
lesliev523 replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was taking the B-complex.... I didn't notice a difference between these and ones that were about half the cost. -
I have a strong reaction to Dairy Queen... and I just get plain ice cream. I really don't know if it is lactose, or what. But what is stranger, I have no issue whatsoever with Culver's custard.

ARCHIVED Heartburn After Eating Gluten Free Foods...
lesliev523 replied to lesliev523's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I am so glad that I am not the only one! I guess I will just have to stay away from gluten-free substitute food. And when it makes me as sick to my stomach as I was the last two time I tried it, I don't think it will be that hard. Thank you! -
ARCHIVED Heartburn After Eating Gluten Free Foods...
lesliev523 replied to lesliev523's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It definitely could be cross contamination, because I am having issues keeping my kitchen area gluten free. I have two teenage boys that cook for themselves, and they aren't always the cleanest... Thanks for the info! -
ARCHIVED Heartburn After Eating Gluten Free Foods...
lesliev523 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Since going gluten-free, I feel SO much better. But I have had two terrible heartburn experiences. I mean this was not mild heartburn, this was chest on fire MAKE IT GO AWAY hearburn! Both times were after I ate food labeled as "gluten free". The first time was after trying a gluten-free pizza on special gluten-free crust. This last time was after... -

ARCHIVED Gained Weight Before Diagnosis
lesliev523 replied to Brittato's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yep... I gained weight too. Almost 50 lbs... I am only 5'2" and my highest weight was 170. I had gall bladder issues last year and started to go gluten free and I lost about 15 lbs... but then over the holidays I let gluten creep back into my life. I gained some of the weight back, and I felt SO miserable. It was to the point my doctor tested me for lupus... -

lesliev523 replied to birdie22's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Aren't they considered "malt beverages"? I thought all malt beverages were NOT gluten free.... even the light ones.... -

ME TOO! And my allergies were progressively worse year after year. To the point I was going to have to get shots. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Else Diagnosed With Fibromyalgia Before Going Gluten Free?
lesliev523 replied to Jamie10's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
It was suggested by my primary doctor, because she just didn't know what else to call my wide array of issues. Originally she thought lupus, but I was ANA negative. I went gluten free about two weeks prior to going to a different doctor. Once she had my history, symptoms, and I told her the relief I was starting to have she immediately told me to NEVER... -
ARCHIVED Goodbye Gallbladder
lesliev523 replied to goodnews's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had my gall bladder out last September after months of feeling terrible. Extreme pain in my right side, like someone was stabbing me. My gall bladder ultra sound showed polyps, but the doctor didn't think that would cause the paid. I had a HIDA scan, which was fine. I had an endoscopy which showed a few questionable areas, but the doctor said the biopsy... -
ARCHIVED Seasonal Allergies Better?!?!?
lesliev523 replied to BabsV's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I went from almost no allergies as a kid to having to consider allergy shots because I was miserable all the time almost all year round. Constant sinus pain and pressure. Eyes always watering or feeling like I had sand thrown in them. It was awful. I am going on a month of being gluten free now, and I have already noticed a significant difference. I... -
ARCHIVED Win Schulers Bar Cheese
lesliev523 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Does anyone know off hand? Looking at the ingredients, I think it is. And it says "contains milk and eggs" on the label. But there is nothing about it on their website, nor any contact info to find clarification. -
Thank you! Yes, I had told her of a few day episode that I had where I kept tripping over my own feet. I have very little strength in my hands and loss of find motor skills. So we will go in for the test at least. My doc does think it is all gluten related, but wants to be sure. I guess I will go with the MRI. Thanks!

I went to a new doctor, and she confirmed that regardless of the fact that I had a negative blood test, that I need to be gluten free. And she completely understands that I don't want any more testing if I have to go back to gluten. She still wants me get an MRI of my brain to rule out MS. I still have a lot of weakness in my hands, and the neuropathy...

ARCHIVED Serious Relief From Apple Cider Vinegar
lesliev523 replied to MitziG's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I swear by ACV. I drink a little every morning before I have breakfast. I don't dilute it in water anymore, I put a little bit in a glass and take it like a shot, lol. Then I brush my teeth. Remember to do that after you drink it, because it can cause tooth problems if you don't brush right away. -
ARCHIVED Frustrated - Normal Bloodwork
lesliev523 replied to Pisqualie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can have non-celiac gluten intolerance. Or if you had not been eating gluten or very much gluten prior to the blood test, you can have a false negative. Good luck! -
Oh I am! Thank you!

ARCHIVED Unsure
lesliev523 replied to Sunny600's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I just had an incomplete blood test by my inefficient doctor that was negative. I have decided to not pursue further testing either. It is too much of a strain on my insurance and on my wallet! I am much healthier gluten free. Noticeably better. I did want a diagnoses, because I have family members that think of it as a fad diet rather than something... -
For YEARS I have had a spot on my nose that looked like a pimple. It was raised and red, but not itchy thank goodness. I have now been gluten free for just over a week and guess what, that spot has just about disappeared. Could a single, not itchy, spot like that be DH? I am just glad it is almost completely gone!

ARCHIVED 1 Week Gluten Free
lesliev523 replied to lesliev523's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I hope so too! I am sick of doctors, to be completely honest. I am tempted to give up on them. If this one looks at me like I am crazy then I am seriously done. I am starting to bounce back... every day is a little better then then one before. The only difference, is going gluten free. Last night I felt some more joint pain, but it was a terribly... -
ARCHIVED 1 Week Gluten Free
lesliev523 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Even though my blood test came back negative, I decided to go back to being gluten free. My doctor has been no help. I requested a referral to a GI. She disagreed and won't give me one! Instead she is referring me to another internist for a consult!!!! So I just decided to go gluten free on my own. That was last Thursday. Symptoms are not gone. ... -
WHAT??? REALLY?? I am just starting to go gluten free and I assumed most candy would be fine. Damn... Now I will have to go look up my favorites! I read somewhere that blue cheese has gluten.... but then saw reports online that it was safe. Anyone have issues with blue cheese?
