  1. ROFLMAO That is hysterically funny! And the LAPTOP??? Nooooooo . . . . . Pedicure? Yes. Toenail Polish? No. Enough Said. The look on your wife's face when you tell her that you can't go away on a romantic weekend with her because you'll miss the Celiac Forum's full moon extravaganza . . . . . . . . priceless. OMG -- BEV -- just...
  2. Welcome Julie! It IS overwhelming at first . . . and as someone else said, sometimes on a daily basis, as well!!!! I got caught up in the whole supplement thing with my GP -- he was a big believer in naturopathic medicine, but he was really running a racket. We have since found out that he has opened yet ANOTHER clinic, in another town closeby, under...
  3. So . . . . I've had two gallbladder "attacks" in my life . . . back when I was in my early 30's. Nothing sense. Nada. As many of you know (now that I spilled my guts on a thread I think when I was hacked off at the arguing!), I simply DON'T poop. Not with Zelnorm, peri-colace, fiber, prunes, extra water -- ALL COMBINED. Doesn't happen. So, my...
  4. Jestgar, you're awesome! Have my neuro appointment on Monday . . . will have him request actual VALUES of the genetic info vs some vague, watered down statement . . .. will let you know!!! Thank again! Lynne
  5. Karen -- with regard to your thyroid, you can have "normal" numbers and STILL have an autoimmune disease. It wasn't until mine almost STOPPED working (with that jerk of a doctor after he took me OFF the synthroid) that I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's. When I went BACK to my regular endocrinologist, she did mention that she didn't know if just Synthroid...
  6. Oh Beverly . . . . the full moon is on October 6th . . .. . . .!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Debbie --- And yet, ANOTHER condition to deal with. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I don't see how you do it, my friend . . . . . Benign Prostate Hypertrophy is pretty common in men -- moreso if they've had a vasectomy, for some reason. As far as treatment, don't know much about that. I agree a PSA is an absolute -- regardless of his age...
  8. Ash went back to the doctor today at school. They now have her going to the Chief GI and the Chief Hepatologist. They did TONS of bloodwork today (she said 10 tubes drawn), but "three of the tests were specific for Celiac Disease" -- They have her scheduled for an endoscopy, and probable colonoscopy. Their other two (scarier) but less likely...
  9. 1. FIRST NAME? Lynne 2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE? No 3. WHEN DID YOU LAST CRY? About three hours ago 4. DO YOU LIKE YOUR HANDWRITING? Yes. It used to be much better, but my printing is very precise, and my handwriting is distinct. 5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT? Corned Beef 6. KIDS? 2, both grown. A son, age 24, a...
  10. Richard --- "Normal" is just a setting on the washing machine!!!!!
  11. I absolutely agree with you about the accupuncture -- and encourage you to to continue with that plan! I only take Synthroid . . . but my levels are continuing to bounce up and down a little. The last time I was in the endocrinologist's office, she wanted to lower my dosage, but she was afraid that it would cause my OTHER levels to drop some, and she said...
  12. Here, here!! Welcome Georgie! I think accupuncture is outstanding. In my field, we aren't supposed to believe in Eastern medicine . . . . ohhhhh nooooo. . . only Western. However, I am such a strong believer in accupuncture because I have seen it work -- over and over and over. With regard to the Hashimoto's -- boy, are you right! I had a smart...
  13. My DH just told me that his favorite Gallagher line is "Why do they put on the bottle of mold/mildew remover 'Use only in a dry, well-ventilated area.' If it was dry and well-ventilated, there wouldn't be mold or mildew IN there."
  14. Tiffany -- I think you're right. I do the same thing. In my case, I don't HAVE a typical "gluten reaction" . . . therefore, when someone says they've had trouble with something (like Amy's with CC), then I eliminate it. I have no options when it comes to ingesting gluten. Therefore, I like to see the discussions and who has found out what information...
  15. VINCENT!!!!! We ALL love you!!! But, Bev's right -- if we really knew you we couldn't be friends with you, cuz you're a guy.
  16. Hmmmm...... don't know about Whooping cough in particular, but when my daughter was little, her asthma kept her coughing ALL night . . . cough syrup just didn't cut it. She would cough until she was eventually vomiting all night. The Pediatrician prescribed Tessalon Pearls. They're these tiny little "pearl -looking" pills. They kept her cough-free all...
  17. My favorite George Carlin line is: "A lady came up to me the other day and asked me if I had the time. I said, 'for what????' "!!!!!!!!!
  18. What do you mean probably all of us???!!! That's a pretty 'inflammatory' statement!!!!!!!
  19. My father has Dupuytren's Contracture -- has had to have surgery twice on both hands, and now has it pretty severely again on both hands, but also on the plantar surfaces of his feet. I have spots of Dupuytren's that are forming on my hands. You can feel them, and the most important part of knowing that you have it is ensuring that you stretch your hands...
  20. Hi Patti! I'm somewhat inclined to tell that to the forum there. Someone else just did two days ago. His response was "we're not medical people here -- just people with ALS. If you didn't get any help at Hopkins, then (something like) it's probably not an issue." Oddly, when he got back from Hopkins ALS clinic, he said that he felt as though he got...
  21. Beverly, Excellent point. You are so right about the research validity. (As always) In my research classes, I was taught the VERY MINIMUM you must have to gain reliable statistical results was 20. I was also taught that even at 20, the results would be considered statistically "borderline" with regard to reliability. One hundred participants was...
  22. I couldn't help it. He made me so MAD. I'm usually a pretty happy-go-lucky, live and let live kind of person. He triggered some kind of hostility in me that I don't know what happened. MAN, I was furious. I guess it's the Southern Belle thing . . . . we're sticky sweet, but don't hack us off!
  23. Another thing to ponder: Would a protester outside a psychiatrist's office be considered an antidepressant?????
  24. I've been a "caller" and a "callee" . . . . and had the same thing happen . . . . . it just does. I agree with eKatherine about the newbie experience. I went to the ALS forum, asking if anyone had known about having only ONE chromosome with the ALS gene but was having symptoms, etc. Got a nasty response from one man. That was it. I think my thread...
