ARCHIVED Anyone Heard From Lynne Tiredofdoctors?
Eliza13 replied to Mtndog's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Hey Lynn: Few questions for you. Just trying to connect the dots on something that happened when I was 7. My mother's English was not so good, so she can't tell me exactly what happened.....I could always find that old doctor. Here's what I remember: At age 7 I remember being sick for an extended period of time. I could not walk and could barely... -

Allrighty....this one goes out to all of my super knowlegeable celiac.com friends: What should I eat for optimal health (I currently don't eat gluten or dairy), but don't think I'm doing the best thing possible for my gut. For instance, I drink lots of coffee, lots of sugar, and lots of diet pop. Any guesses why I chose this thread to ask this question... -
ARCHIVED Gut Article: Leaky Gut May Occur From Gluten Even In Absence Of Celiac Disease
Eliza13 replied to Nancym's topic in Publications & Publicity
As a child I had many symptoms of celiac, but unfortunately was not diagnosed until age 30. I've been doing some reading and have learned that there is a link between celiac and rheumatoid arthritis (according to my mother, I had this as a child....I remember it!!!). I guess I'm genetically inferior...haha.... This rheumatoid arthritis bit kind... -

HI Rachel: First...I must say that I enjoy many of your posts....very informative. Second...on the high WBCs...I have had them on and off since childhood. There was one particular stretch during childhood where I remember my mother crying in the doctor's office (I was very sick). I had high WBCs and docs could not figure out what was wrong with me... -

What is the high WBC connection? I have DH and high WBC consistently (not sure if still do, but did for a long time). -

ARCHIVED Poll: Official Diagnosis Or ?
Eliza13 replied to Nantzie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I'm not too sure what to do about my situation. I like my doctor because he was the very first doctor in my lifetime to mention the possibility of celiac. I had a long list of symptoms, so he told me to go off gluten. Some of my symptoms were: rash on elbows, head and bum; diarrhea 7x per day; extreme fatigue; hair loss; abdominal distention; swollen... -

Not sure what is causing your amennorhea, but I can tell you what happened to me. Others may already know this about me....sorry to be repetitive. I had amennorhea ever since having my first period, and am now 31. I was averaging maybe one per year and was given a wishy washy diagnosis of PCOS (tests came back neg.). Anyhow....I went gluten-free at age... -

I really really really really hate dried fruit....won't touch the stuff....maybe it's my body already reacting??? Hmm...interesting on the sulphites....I throw up when I drink red wine, but I seem to be okay with white wine....even if I only have one cup! -

I think I had an OMG I might be onto something moment today in that I think I have discovered another allergen/intolerance: Grapes!!!! Every once in a while my stomach becomes enormous and I get itchy ALL over. Can grapes do this and are any of you intolerant to grapes? On the colds thing. I have had constant colds all of my life, with the exception... -

ARCHIVED Trying To Figure Things Out....
Eliza13 replied to mama.laura's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Have never been tested for insulin resistance. I am of average weight. No problems there really, although I would like to look like a model (haha). I am convinced that the problem is gluten. It's funny because prior to my celiac diagnosis I was always eating "super healthy". I was driven to eat "healthy" b/c of my constant fatigue, but nothing seemed... -

Eliza13 replied to mama.laura's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Very interesting post. Maybe my story will help shed some light. I got my first period when I was in grade 8. After that period I averaged about 1 per year. I had every test imaginable, but all came back negative so my doc just said you probably have PCOS. Fast forward to age 30. After complaining about an itchy rash on my elbows, diarrhea, and... -
ARCHIVED How Old? Celiac For How Long?
Eliza13 replied to swittenauer's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
I'm 31 and was diagnosed at age 30. You'd think that my doctor would have clued in long ago with my health history. I had tonsils removed at age 2 and was a chronic sick child. Always had a cold, always throwing up, had teeth seeled as a kid b/c of enamel loss. The most disturbing symptom that I get as a result of eating gluten is complete cessation of... -

ARCHIVED Dangerous Grains.....

I once went on a low carb diet and I swear it was the best I've felt my entire life. Eating gluten-free makes me feel great too, but I swear I was glowing when I ate NO carbs. Anyone know why that could be?? -
I was always a sickly child. It started with diarrhea as a baby. Tonsils out at age 2!!!! Teeth sealed at age 7 (enamel was coming off). Hated dairy as long as I can remember. Lots of throwing up since childhood. Always tired as a kid. High white blood cells as a kid. You'd think with all of the above, someone would have clued in. I was 30 when...

I want to get super healthy this year, but I am not sure what else to cut out of my diet. I have heard that soy can be problemmatic, and am not sure if I should eliminate it. I know that I probably should be eliminating other foods for maximum health. Some interesting things: I throw up when smoke tobacco, don't like any dairy products, don't like egg...

ARCHIVED Can Eating Gluten Give You A Cold
Eliza13 replied to JennFog's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had constant colds prior to my diagnosis. Last winter I had zero colds, which was truly amazing (was gluten-free). That alone is incentive to lay off the poison! -
I also had a high white blood cell count as part of my symptoms.
