    ARCHIVED Doctor In Edmonton?

Haha! The bread, the cheeses and the meats! The bins of fresh olives and the beautiful, fresh produce! All the Italian mamas and papas roaming the aisles on Saturdays. Oh, you lucky woman you! Next time you go think of me stuck in stodgy Winnipeg dreaming of the Italian Centre. Breathe and inhale deeply for me. The Red Ox Inn is still around...
  2. Hey all. I got my diagnostic test back today for TTG IGA which were in the normal range. This is what I expected as I mostly present with neurological problems and according to the research coming out, AGA IGG is a better dignostic marker for that type of celiac presentation and I wasnt tested for it. But more importantly and what I would like to share...
  3. In addition to what Ravenwood said, there is also evidence now for Non Celiac Gluten Intolerance/Sensitivity which does not show up on the testing that they do for celiac. You might find this article helpful which highlights Dr. Fasano's (University of Maryland Centre for Celiac Research) research and validation for NCGI. Open Original Shared Link and...

    ARCHIVED Doctor In Edmonton?

Oh, the Italian Centre! I used to live a few blocks away from it and did a bulk of my shopping there. You are truly bringing back memories for me. ...In terms of restaurants that offer gluten free the Vietnamese eating places on 101 St (about 105 Avenue) are awesome.
  5. The stew sounds awesome. When I was losing my hair I started taking zinc supplements and eating raw pumpkin seeds. It helped a bit.
  6. Yikes! You have a physically demanding job! No wonder your poor back is hurting in addition to whatever other nutritional stresses you're going through. It totally makes sense to keep pushing for the MRI/Cat scans as you might have a problem that is exacerbated by the physical demands. I wish your doctors would get on board with that asap. It might help...

    ARCHIVED Doctor In Edmonton?

Yup, it is. Let us know how it goes with the doctor search. Hope the site proves beneficial to you.
  8. Morning, new2celiack12, and welcome. Concerning the back pain, do you do any kind of daily stretching? I know when I was at my sickest and moving less and less, my back hurt more and more.
  9. Yup, you never know what and how big the thing is that's making the big rustling noises. ...and yeah, you're right. The birds in the morning on a warm summer day are awe inspiring and peace bringing. Funny, but I always would tilt to the right as well. Are you right handed by any chance? Wonder if that makes a difference.
  10. Ravenswoodglass, I can't offer any suggestions being fairly new to all this but I just wanted to say, Damn! I wish you weren't experiencing any of this and I hope that it's a simple and speedy resolution for you. You're totally in my heart for everything that you have gone through and I wish the best for you. Big hugs, Kamma ...and keep us posted...
  11. Hey! You mentioning the sugar thing reminded me of something that happened this week that I'd like to as you about: I rarely eat sugar, sweets, pop or anything like that but this week I baked myself a coconut merangue rice flour square thingy and stuffed the entire thing into my mouth. The next day I was depressed, anxious and kind of had that panicky...

    ARCHIVED Doctor In Edmonton?

After two years of dealing with the medical field, I'm a firm believer in this site: Open Original Shared Link Of which people post their reviews of the doctors they have seen. If you plug in Edmonton and the field of speciality in the search function, you can pull up the different doctors and how people have found them to be and their experiences...
  13. It surely sounds similar, pricklypear. Running water and the toilet flushing would always get me as well. I'll have to look into the adrenal end of things.
  14. Ravenwoodglass, thanks for this. Experiences like yours and mine give new impetus to the words, "Silence is golden." Haha. When I would have to walk down the street during my worst times, I looked like a drunk reeling back and forth and the sounds of traffic rumbling and whooshing past me would give me waves of vertigo and make me cringe at the loudness...
  15. I'm not sure but I suspect that some of the research was done post mortem and/or the tests that they have used might be too cost prohibitive or in the development stages to be produced large scale.
  16. You might also welcome the news that on the UK Coeliac website they specifically state that: "Research has shown that some people with celiac disease who do not have obivious gut symptoms may not produce antibodies for transgluiminase 2 (TG2)...Antibodies for transglutaminase 3 (TG3) have been found in people with DH and antibodies for transglutimanse...
  17. I'm just wondering how many people experience pain in their ears and hyperacuity to sound when they get glutened. When I was at my worst before getting diagnosed, I would get these pinching pains in my ears and sounds were unbearable to me. I also had extreme sensitivity to vibrations. Both sound and vibrations would cause vertigo. I had all the vestibular...
  18. The Consumer Report isn't accurate at all! Just to counteract it, here's an article I picked up from the Irish Coeliac Board that is talking about a new study into mon- celiac gluten intolerance. I'll pull a quote from it but its worthwhile to go and read the article fully as it contains a quick reference guide for the symptoms broken down for wheat allergy...
  19. I agree with Skylark. After two years of being tested for everything under the sun by a great neurologist, I suggested celiac and he was totally on board and sent me for testing. It helps to read up on the research being done on neurolgical representations of celiac so you can inform the neurologist. Mine was on board cause his sister was diagnosed with...
  20. Quitting smoking reduces your heart rate which in turn slows your metabolism. Along with a change in diet you might need to increase your cardio. I know you said no more exercise and Im not sure what kind of activity you do but if it helps, I walk an hour a day - really brisk pace for four minutes, slow for one minute and then increase it again to four...
  21. My hands swell up along with my lower legs and face. I put it down to water retention as well and cut out all salt / salty foods.
  22. Hi, I experience neurological symptoms so have been reading alot of M Hadjivassiliou's research on the neurological manifestations of celiac. He states that the IgG are better markers for celiac in neurological presentations so if yours are high, it could be indicative of celiac. "IgG anti-gliadin antibodies have been the best diagnostic marker in the...
  23. I've always had cold feet and hands but in the last few years it has gotten worse to where I am much like you: dressing up to go to bed. In the day, my bare skin feels like an ice pack is placed against it. Regarding the pain up the left arm, I get something similiar where it feels numb/dead like. Also My hands falls asleep when I'm holding a book...
  24. Hi, HK1, Two years ago, the world started tilting in my head and I couldnt walk without tilting over to one side or the other. The vertigo would always be there, sometimes more intensely than other times. Sounds were unbearable and as everything further progressed, I couldn't be under flourescent lights without having a seizure like episode in which...
  25. Morning everyone. In a few hours I'm going to be walking into a lab and having some blood pulled for the TTG test. I'm excited and ecstatic because regardless of the testiing, today was the last day that I will ever eat gluten. I haven't posted much here being a bit shy but for the last three months I've been reading like crazy any and all posts that...
