  2. This summer we will be staying with my sister in law who is allergic to both rice and corn, and we are trying to figure out what we can make for bread/etc while we are there. With Rice, corn and wheat all being out, any suggestion? Maybe use just potateo flour as a direct sub for wheat? Any other suggestions?

  4. I made some gluten-free playdough for them, from a recipe some one here gave me (forget already, sorrY!), and just gave it to them this week, but suspect we will have to clean the toys there, planning to voleenteer to do that next weekend.
  5. On Sunday my son got somthing that had gluten in it. Talking with the Sunday school teacher about it she said he had his gluten-free rice crackers, His Kroger apple juice and a Dumdum lollipop. I can not seem to find anything usefull on the dumdum site, does anyone know if they are gluten-free? I personaly suspect he somehow got in to thier playdough...

  10. I have see a more then a few site/program that claim you can put the ingredients in for a given recipe and it will give you the nutritional information back. Stuff like % of RDA of vitimans, carbs, calories, etc. Has anyone used of any of them? Can anyone recomend one ?
  11. Could have gotten contimated from something else in thier kitchen too.
  12. Carvel cakes are all ice cream (YUM!!!), but you have to be careful still because they like to put "crunchies" in between layers. Basicly these are cookie crumbs. And of course check the flavor/toppings of the ice cream, as normal.
  13. Yea, keep in mind, that even the best of intentions can lead to mistakes. As a former waiter I can tell you most wiaters work thier butts off trying to accomdate thier clients, and mistakes happen constantly. I once droped an enitre tray of cake on a young lady in a prom gown! She was very understanding about it fortunitly, but it servs to illustrate my point...
  14. Simple "Look, I cant have any wheat/ect, and if you screw it up, no tip for you. You get it right, and I will not only tip generously, but come back often." That being said, we have only been out to eat once since learning about celiac disease, and I simply told the waiter that my son was alergic to wheat so he needs to keep that away from his...

  19. Sorry to ask a stupid question, but what is SCD?
  20. I find it intresting that you think its a moral issue weather or not to go gluten-free. I am not at all clear how it is? The only time I hear of diets having morality are typicaly from Vegitiairins who preach in your face that eating meat is moraly wrong. Any other time, diet is just a choice, some times forced by an allergy/etc, some times just a choice...

  22. Still, if we were talking about ME I migth try that, but we are talking about a toddler (21 month old child) who in 6-9 months will still only be a 2 year old. Get his blood re-tested at that point I might do, but he will get no gluten unless I have darn good reason to suspect the celiac disease dx is wrong. For my self I have a sliughtly different...
