  4. Thanks all, sounds like for the most part everyone here agrees, go gluten-free with him and stick with it. I do not see a blood test as a big deal though, so prbly let the GI Doc do that again in 6-9months, but definly not doing another Endscopy unless somthing dramticaly changes. I do not lke the idea of a gluten challenge.
  5. I have only made 2 loaves so far, but both worked. The directions that came with mine say that you have to add the indgrendinest in a spefic order, or it will not. This is what I do... First mix all the wet ingredients up in a mixing bowl. Then pour them in to the machine. Next mix all the dry ingredinents EXCEPT YEAST in a mixing bow, then pour...

  8. Three things, First, not all the results were neagtive, one fo the tests was postive. Second, what you describe is exactly what the doc wants to do. Thrid... whats a gluten challange?
  9. (some refresher+newstuff) I have a 21 month old toddler who showed remarkable improvement on the gluten-free diet. Before the diet he had an endoscopy that showed "damage consistent with a reaction to food in the stomach" but nothing in the intestins. After the endoscopy he spent a week on a gluten-free diet, and then got blood tested. Blood test was an after...

    ARCHIVED What Else

From what I read, the biggest problem with celiac disease is the prevent of abosrbation of nutritents such as Iron, Calcium, etc. The lack of these causes other health issues, such as my Anemia. Strick adherence to the diet prevents these complications. This is jsut my uderstanding based on all the reading I have been doing over the last few weeks,...
  11. My wife and I are planning a second child soon, since our first has celiac disease, should she go gluten-free before/durring preg/ breastfeeding? Is the next child likly to be celiac disease?
  12. I have no idea how my endoscopy went. My wife tells me it went well , and that they said we would hear back from the bisopy in 3-5 days. So back to waiting again. I take extra long to come put of anthesia, in this case the procedure was over at 203, and I did not wake till 509. Thats why she comes and brings a note pad to write everything down that happens...
  13. I contacted the makers of "Smart Balance" margin about thier product to see if ti was gluten-free or not (later I found out it says gluten-free on the lable! Ah well..) And they sent a reply saying that ALL GFA brand products gluten-free! Heres the email: I have no idea what else they make, but its nice to see a compnay like this.

  19. OKay here is a list of known facts... 1) My 21month old son has had a major improvement with diet change to gluten-free. In short all symptons gone. His biposy and blood test were both inditive of celiac disease, IMO but his doctor is not due back in town till tommorow for the offical word. 2) My Maternal Grandfather had all the classic symptons...

  23. Well, who can guess how tall they might have been, just cause your short, and everyone in your family was tall, that does not mean you should be. I do not know how you would begin to measure shuch a thing. For example at 5'11" I am by far the shortest adult male in my family, but 5 11 is around average for a man. So should I have been taller? Who knows?
  24. Nope, but I wll be there too in June... so I better watch this thread
  25. I only buy "natural" peanut butter (serveral brand carry them, but I get the store brand (Kroger), which has ONLY peanuts in it. I do not understand the need to dump all those additives in like the "normal" peanutbutter has.
