ARCHIVED Help: Toddler Puking!
VydorScope replied to VydorScope's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I must be a horrible parent, we do not have any of that, cept the fronze Food For Life bread to make toast. Kroger wont have any gluten-free crackers I dont think. I could get some banana's , apples, and gatoraid. He of course is no help, acting like he is not sick at all. And makeing demands then only a toddler can get away with LOL. -

OKay, umm this is the first time this has happen since he has gone gluten-free and I realized that umm, what do you give a gluten-free kid to mucnh on. He puked up ALOT, has to be a full stomcha load. I was thinking maybe some fo his carnation instanbrafast to replace what he lost in a "sippy cup" ? We have "Food For Life Brown Rice Bread" so I was thiunking... -

ARCHIVED Advice Re: Biopsy, Please!
VydorScope replied to ashmom2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am not a dotor, just a parent thats been there, I just want to restate that. I do not feel the biosopy is a good choice REGUARDLESS of the blood test. The biospy adds no new information. Think about it this way... You do the bisopy, and it comes back POSTIVE, well okay that tells you that he has celiac disease, but you already knew that from... -
Well the thought I was operating under was somthing like the corn to kick up the low BS, then the chicken to level off the fall out. No different then peanutbutter on apples... right?

ARCHIVED Advice Re: Biopsy, Please!
VydorScope replied to ashmom2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am not a doctor, I am just a parent that has been there. If I could do it over.... 1) I would not do the biospy. It will give NO new information over the blood test. 2) The gluten-free diet has already begon to heal them, almost garrenting a non-postive bisopy. I would suggest you forget the biospy and get both kids on the diet, and yes its for... -
ARCHIVED How Do You Keep Others From Feeding Your Child
VydorScope replied to skipper30's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
We lable our child with bright green neon sitckers that say the can only have food from his bag when we leave him at pre-school/sunday school. We also talk to every parent that might be in postion to be over him. It took asome time but we got everyone trained. I find being very proactive, and makeing it easy as possible on the other parents is best. Instead... -

My son has never reacted from them. We get the all beef ones, and NOT the light ones... -
It was not stop and go, and it was pushing a stroller in to the wind (it always seems to shift just right LOL). We take it a pretty good pace, enough to get the heart pumping. Wiating on getting more strips till I see doc, cause if she writes an RX for it, I can get tehm coverd by my insurance.

ARCHIVED Maple Syrup
VydorScope replied to mac3's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some have, actaully many have gluten in them. If its 100% pure maple syrup it should be fine. Aslo if you have a kroger near you all Kroger storebrand maple syurps are gluten-free. I never check Log Cabin or Aunt Jamima but I think I read that only some of thier varities are safe. -
Hmm is that why I feel light headed and sick/etc right now? Just finished a 90 min walk...Need mre strips fro my meter.

Intresting. See with reactive hyposugar stuff the real crash comes 4 hours after you eat. (right on the nose for me when I checked it ). So checking before bed would not help me I dont think. Unless I woke up 4 hours later and tested, but that kind gets in the way of the goal sleeping! LOL. Weak, confused, shakes, blackouts (well only nearly forme...

VydorScope posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
With 5g Fat, 10g Protein, 15 Total (from 9 to 12 Net pending how you count) Carbs, they seem like a great sanck options. There is no gluten in the ingredients, but it says htat its made on a machine that also makes wheat products. Any one have a problem with these? Sometimes statements like that are realy CYA and not a concer from gluten standpoint, so... -

ARCHIVED Are There Threads About Supplements And Nutrition
VydorScope replied to eleep's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
We just take a daily multi vit form "Natures Made" wich is gluten-free and DF. That plus good quailty yogurt (Cascade, Stonyfield farms, etc) for probotics is about all *I* personaly think most ppl need. I have to take an additional calcium suplment (1200 IU a day +forget how much VitD) Cuase of bone loss, but most ppl wont need that. -
