  1. I'm not sure of the brand, I'd have to look at the bottle. I only tried it for the first time a couple of days ago, and I was so impressed. The stuff I have definitely doesn't look or taste like water! It has a really nasty cran-apple flavor to it, and it's thick and slimy with chunks (pulp?) in it. Ew.
  2. I used to just love their food, but now I can't bring myself to eat there because of the risk of contamination. I'm too scared to try it.
  3. -headache -sleepiness -painful bloating and gas -sharp stomach pains -nausea -diarreah -extreme moodiness - depression, crabbiness, anxiety -heartburn -DH breakouts -aches and pains The intersting thing is that I seem to get a different combination of symptoms ever time. It lasts anywhere from 2-3 days to a week or more, but the DH breakouts last...
  4. Aloe juice. It's gross and snotlike, but damn does it ever work. I can't believe I lived without it for so long.
  5. I didn't answer your poll because I don't have any first degree relatives who are BP (nor am I), but I do have an uncle who is BP (he is my mom's brother, and their sister had celiac disease but was diagnosed witha "grain allergy" and eczema.Hmmmm). I also have a cousin on that side who has Borderline Personality Disorder.
  6. I've always had a "sensitive" stomach, and I was very depressed as a child/adolescent. My first really obvious symptoms started when I was about 17 or 18 (around 10 years ago), I started to have very severe stomach pains, indegestion, heartburn, nausea and difficulty eating. That kind of came and went over the past decade. I also had very bad headaches...
  7. It does sound likely with that medical history. 1) I didn't gain any weight. At first I lost about 15lbs, but over the last few months I have gotten back up to my initial weight (which is where I want to be). 2) Not hellish at all. Inconvenient at times, frustrating at times, but not hellish. Really it just takes a little getting used to. Of course...
  8. Reason #346 that I have the best husband in the world: He is supposed to be getting ready to go out with his friends right now, but instead he's running out to get me some sprite and aloe juice. What a doll.
  9. I get migraines, but what you're describing sounds more like a cluster headache to me. My mom gets those (along with other severe symptoms, yet tested neg for celiac disease). When I get a migraine, I have warning. I can feel it coming on and I do get an aura. I get very nauseated and vomit a lot, I get a "carsick" feeling from sounds (don't ask me how...
  10. Oh wait. Now it is ALL hitting me. Glutened for sure. Damn and blast. I was supposed to go out to a poker tourney with my hubby tonight, I guess not.
  11. I think I might have been glutened today, but I honestly am not sure. I have rumbly guts and a couple of not-so-nice trips to the bathroom and a headache, but I'm not sleepy or confused, I'm not nauseated, and my skin isn't bothering me at all. This isn't nearly as bad as the last time I was glutened, but as the day goes on my stomach gets more and more unsettled...
  12. I just think about all the ways hair stuff or cosmetics could get into my mouth. In the shower for instance. When you're in the shower and washing your hair, the water runs all down your face (at least with me it does) and could very easily get on your lips or in your mouth that way. Or with something like hair gel, if you touch/twist your hair (I do this...
  13. I also recommend the San-J, it tastes just like regular.
  14. That's weird, I wish I had an answer because I have a similar thing with eggs. If I eat an over-easy egg I get a really strange tickly feeling in my throat and mouth (like I have to cough or something) but if I eat scrambled eggs or something with egg in it, I have no trouble.
  15. I was in my stats class today, and one of my classmates brought in cookies for a birthday (not even hers, someone else in the class). She knows that I have celiac disease, I sat with her at this reception that we had to go to and I couldn't eat anything they had. Anyway, she brought in a couple dozen cookies for the whole class, and after she had given...
  16. My DH looks like little teeny blisters that cluster together, while the skin underneath is kind of red and raised. If I scratch them they will bleed or ooze gross fluid (don't know what it is, don't want to know). It's horribly, horribly itchy and stings at the same time. It can't hurt to just have the biopsy done just to see.
  17. Wow, that guy at the store was a JERK. I hope he remembers how he behaved when a time comes that he needs a little patience and understanding from others. As for you relatives, they were acting like jerks too. Just count your blessings that your parents stuck up for you. The others can either just learn to live with it or eat on their own, no one ever...
  18. If you're a pasty fan, check out www.grandmaferdons.com. They make the best beef pasties, I just love them.

  20. I love genmai-cha! I get that all the time. I also like the flavor of Good Earth green tea. I got some REALLY good teas when I went to China, but sadly that supply is dwindling.
  21. I live in the northwestern part of the state, Chippewa Falls. My dad lives in Madison though and I always stock up on the good stuff when I visit him.
  22. I love tea, and drink it every day. I don't know about any celiac specific benefits though. Are you the one who is near Madison? (sorry if I have that wrong....) My fave tea in the whole world is Stash double bergemot Earl Grey, they have it at Woodman's. Last time I was there I bought 4 boxes because I can't find it anywhere else.
  23. I do that with ads on TV too, especially ads for pasta places and such. I always think "Why are you advertising that, *I* can't eat it!"
  24. Could you figure out an "approved treat" list to give him? My husband loves to pick up little treats for me when he's out without me, but to avoid the problem of him bringing home something I can't eat I have figured out a list of specific items/brands that I know are ok. He remembers which specific thing I can have, so if he's out he knows at least a couple...
  25. I know this is off the original topic, but here is a link for you Stephanie: Open Original Shared Link
