  1. You certainly have symptoms consistent with celiac disease. Okay, the full, current celiac blood panel is this: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA The DGP test was added recently to the full panel. Also...
  2. cindylou, you're not alone in thinking this disease has you stumped! LOL! It has all of us stumped I think. Let's see if I can explain this another way. When celiacs eat gluten the gluten is in their intestine & the body hates it so it sends antibodies to destroy the thing that is irritating it. The antibodies go wild & end up destroying the...
  3. Sure Kell. And when you're done reading mine it would be a good idea to put neuro in the search box for the site & you will come up with lots of threads b/c we are, of course, not all the same. Eatmeat had some neuro issues too & I'm sure she will be on to tell you of hers. And before I forget ---- if your family members are willing --- it would...
  4. It's really hard to say. I went back & read your posts so I would have a better idea of what else is going on with you. I'm going to say that this rash could be a dh predecessor or it could be just some kind of gluten related rash. But --- from what you have described on other threads It's likely that it's dh "in the making" so to speak. And to answer...
  5. Yes, Penny, it just has to work itself out of your skin. You must be extremely vigilant though about not getting glutened or cc'd. Every time you do it will make the "end date" farther out. Now, even if you were squeaky clean gluten-free for 6, 8, 10 months ---- dh can still present whenever it darn well feels like it. Until it's all out of your skin you...
  6. Thank you Dani! A most informative article & a great thing to post!
  7. YVW Tia! I think for corn free supplements looking for liquid vitamins are the way to go. I could not find a single D3 that did not have corn until I checked for liquid ones.
  8. Yes, Kell, the steroids skew the tests but as eatmeat said --- those of us with dh often test neg. on the blood & on the endoscopy too. And even if you found a derm who would consider dh then you would have to wait for those steroids to be fully out of your system before you got a biopsy of the skin. We're here to help anytime.
  9. Thanks eatmeat! I think I may have gone a little overboard. Actually it wouldn't have been so hard if I was a good girl & had all my bookmarks organized but I don't & I have at least 200 bookmarks on dh alone & another possible 200 on celiac in general. One of these days I vow to organize the darn things. Actually, I think I do this to keep...
  10. Agreed itchy! And I DO appreciate your experience with this beast we battle!
  11. Yes, cindylou, dh rash shows up more when glutened but it is also true that dh outbreaks can happen even when you have not been glutened recently. You see, the antibodies are in your skin for years & each time you get glutened it lengthens the time that the antibodies will remain in your skin. So it's pertinent to be extremely vigilant with your diet...
  12. Tara, you say you very rarely cheat on the diet. Here's the problem --- every time you cheat or accidentally get glutened or cross contaminated (cc'd) you are making IgA active in your skin that is if what you are experiencing is dh or the predecessor of dh. The antibodies can stay in our skin for literally years. So it's not like the gluten you ate 6 months...
  13. No one on this thread said iodine reduction is absolutely necessary. And I haven't seen that made as a constant statement. And I don't consider either one of us an expert.
  14. Thank you justlisa & jestgar for the well wishes! I'm better now & as I promised I am posting sources & info. for my statements. I might have gotten a little carried away as I find all of it fascinating. You can certainly learn about dh though! I have posted though on the dh forum as It would not be fair to Troy to hijack his thread & I have...
  15. I made a post on another thread in the post dx forum & some there were saying they did not know much about dh 7 wouldn't mind learning more as well as wanting to know what the source was for things I stated. Here is my post, copied & pasted. I did not want to hijack the other thread plus this forum is the best place to discuss dh so I post the sources...
  16. What eatmeat says is true.
  17. Thank you eatmeat!
  18. Itchy, I did not say she HAS to go low iodine! I said & I quote: "We usually have to go low iodine to get it to lay down". Okay, you say there have been a number of ppl who have stated they didn't associate iodine with any effect on the dh. Fine, I'll take your word for that --- you have been here longer than I & may very well have read ppl saying...
  19. bartful! I'm glad I read this thread. Not only did I get some laughs but I had been wondering the other day if I could wash my hair with baking soda & how well it would work. What a timely thread! I am having to be low sals & I know my shampoo --- all shampoos are high sals & the dh in my scalp is killing me. So I thought I would like to...
  20. Nenee, you state you are getting an endoscopy w/ biopsy on Thrusday. What brought this about? Did you have a celiac panel done on your blood work? If so, what were the results of that? Do you have a copy of the test results? If you do it would help if you posted them. there are those here who are very good at reading them but you also need to post the ref...
  21. Kell, welcome to the club none of us wanted to belong to! Lately this club seems to be experiencing a population explosion. Hopeful gave good advice. I would add to that it is nearly impossible to find a derm who will consider dh let alone biopsy for it. If you DO get one who will then they better be experienced in biopsy procedures for dh. If you don...
  22. I can not have corn right now as I have to be low salicylate & cron is high sals; but my blood work revealed I'm way low in D3 so I researched for liquid D3. I found this which is gluten-free & corn free. Also it contains NO milk, egg, fish, peanuts, crustacean shellfish (lobster, crab, shrimp), soybeans, tree nuts, wheat, yeast, gluten, corn or rice...
  23. LOL! Oh that's okay bartful! Don't think another thought about it. Seriously! I'm just glad to know it doesn't have corn in it. And I can see how you could say one when thinking of another --- I've done the same kind of thing myself. AND I'm laughing. So no harm, no foul. Those must have been some wretched biscuits. My mom once got flustered by something...
  24. I've been Googling baking soda b/c of the comment bartful made saying use corn free baking soda. I had no idea baking soda had corn in it. Every way I have Googled it I only come up with baking powder not baking soda & in fact they are saying to make baking powder use baking soda & something else. Can someone please verify if baking soda does or...
  25. jlaw, I was self dx'd at first. I had the rash for years -- at first very minimially as in one or two blisters --- I get the textbook clear blisters but also get the "bites" & most of mine appears symmetricaly although not always. I had a "muther" of an outbreak in April 2011 & by the time Sept. rolled around I had Googled...
