  1. What eatmeat said!
  2. I like being an individual human being but sometimes I wish we were all clones so we could have a nice neat little rule book we could follow --- one size fits all sort of thing. Would make dh a lot easier to deal with!
  3. I agree with eatmeat & Prickly. You just have to test it every once in a while & see where you stand. From what I've read of others reporting on here it seems that seafood is the biggest hurdle for iodine though. I'm guessing that's the last thing we will all be able to add back in our diets for those of us who have the iodine "connection".
  4. Hooray for you! YES! I had the same feeling when I found out too. I was elated that I don't have to have surgery for this disease. I don't have to take meds for this disease. Meds which always have some downside to them. Being gluten free isn't bad --- it takes a little getting used to but it's not bad at all. I'm at the point now where I actually cackle...
  5. Always great to hear positive results! Good stories are wonderful.
  6. Yes, you are correct that the biopsy for dh will be negative having been so long gluten-free. However, IF you have been getting regular cross contamination then it could prove to be positive. But if that were happening then you would surely be having dh present.
  7. Atta girl Lolli! Just take it nice & easy. Feels great not to itch doesn't it? So keep up the good work & just enjoy feeling better even if your food list is small right now. It will grow.
  8. Good for you luckyme2! It takes time & we just have to wait it out. Welcome to the board!
  9. Green peas & raisins are both very high iron foods also.
  10. Food colorings?
  11. Welcome to you both! If you use the search box for the board (it says; search forum via google) & put in shampoo or anything else you want to know about; you will come up with threads dealing with that subject. BTW, I use Suave Naturals -- both the shampoo & conditioner --- gluten-free & cheap -- they work great for me.
  12. Goldy, you do realize that the celiac panel may turn up negative simply b/c of the time you have been gluten free don't you? It has false negatives even when ppl have been consistently eating gluten & more so when they have been gluten light or gluten free.
  13. Oh wow Karen! Thanks a ton. I followed all the links in all the threads. Oh yum! Can't wait to try some of this stuff. I loved your ideas of going sort of "dessert" with them w/ choc. dipping sauce. I'm thinking apricots --- I adore apricots & choc. dipping sauce. Oh Yeah!
  14. I want to try some rice paper wraps & have zero experience with them. I have looked online & some say use the larger ones, some say small is okay. Brands you find good? Any tips on using them are appreciated. Do I understand that I can either just use them for an immediate wrap OR I can choose to deep fry them? If I use them w/o frying them they...
  15. I'm also interested in knowing how you rate it txplowgirl. I've been looking at one myself.
  16. Wonderful to hear you are feeling better today Kimberly! Yes, Bubba's Mom has been through the ringer herself so she knows a lot of stuff & has great advice. Hope your doc on maternity leave gets back soon!
  17. I wanted to add to be sure & check the frozen veggies bags to make sure they aren't done in a shared facility. Eatmeatforgood found some that said that. I always check to make sure.
  18. bartful, doesn't the store have the instant Minute rice? So sorry you got got. Especially after you had been doing so well. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
  19. Thank you jlaw. To the OP, how are you doing? Do you have any questions? Are you still taking Dapsone & how's that working out for you? Does the doc have blood work scheduled for you while you're on the Dapsone? He should; it can cause liver problems & anemia & you need to be monitored while you are on it --- more frequently at first, then...
  20. Aly, it's hard to say but the fact that it isn't itching like mad is an indication it's not dh. There are many skin conditions associated with celiac disease & it could be any number of them. We celiacs tend to have skin sensitivities. It WOULD help though if you could take a photo & post it. Also, if you give her an antihistamine & it clears...
  21. We're here when you need us. It's allowed to whine, cry, pitch a hissy fit & gripe here. We've all done it. That sounds like a good plan & your hubs deserves major kudos for it. Give him some extra attention.
  22. Even low iodine you can still have dh flares until the IgA gets out of your skin. NSAIDS make my dh go gonzo! Stress makes flare ups. We are eating nothing from a can. No processed foods unless you count frozen veggies & mostly we eat fresh fruits & veggies. We only get stuff that is batch tested, certified gluten free. Most of my flours, nuts,...
  23. Your feelings are normal GoldyLocks. I think we all pretty much went through them. Welcome aboard!!!!! And I will echo rosetappers thoughts about how sweet your hubby is being about this. Does he plan to go gluten-free too? And here's a link --- I don't know who will enjoy it more -- you or your hubs. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie...
  24. I just happen to know that Wish Bone Russian Dressing contains wheat. It was my hubs favorite dressing but it was clearly labeled as having wheat in it.
