  1. I know. I live in terror of the day they say I ABSOLUTELY HAVE to have the contrast.
  2. Have you had any medical procedures lately such as a CT scan with "contrast"? A lot of things like that use iodine for the contrast. That's a good way to get a fast load of iodine. Something to think about.....
  3. Thank you for the information & links Tom & I will agree that this subject requires further study & research by those who do such. And the study you cite says there were GI changes enough to make a dx. But let's examine further. The study involved 20 ppl. 1 of which was washed out due to not possessing the accepted genetic markers for celiac disease...
  4. Awwwwwwwwwwww Adelaide. I'm so sorry you got got. (((HUGS)))
  5. No. Gluten free is the treatment either way. The only thing would be to have your ferritin (iron) levels checked along with your B-12 & thyroid panel, CBC & CMP. Sorry you fell like &*^%. (((HUGS)))
  6. No, 2-3 weeks is not long enough after having been gluten-free for a month. Sorry. Can you push back the lab date? It doesn't sound like there is a firm appointment date. You need to have been actively consuming gluten for 3 months @ equivalent of 3-4 slices of bread per day.
  7. Crissy, I'm going to repeat what StephanieL said. DO NOT go gluten free until ALL testing is done with & that includes an endoscopy. The doc SHOULD have known that & told you that. ALSO, steroids will screw up the tests. So the prednisone could make the tests negative. Your doctor SHOULD have known that. So, since your doc has already screwed up...
  8. I have had a very few on the palms of my hands. More on the sides of fingers as well as sides of hands. but yes, I have had it on my palms & I have read others here too who have had it to a worse degree than myself on their palms. Stress can trigger dh outbreaks as well as celiac making itself known. So while stress can do lots of things to us; it can...
  9. LOL! Well, I found a way to make do until....... I put the chia seeds into a sandwich ziplock, put a paper towel underneath as well as one on top & took the hammer, sat down on the kitchen floor & pounded away! LOL! It worked but I don't look forward to doing it on a regular basis. P.S. You have to make sure all the air is out of the baggie...
  10. Will a coffee grinder work to grind up chia seeds to use as an egg replacer?
  11. Okay, you've had your first rant & rave & it's okay here. I don't think there is hardly a single soul on here who hasn't done that at least one time. It's okay to cry too & have a pity party. We get it. But I assure you things WILL get better. I'm not saying it will be a wondrous event in the next week or even month but It WILL happen! The...
  12. I had never heard of Mobic. I just looked it up. I don't know Cindylou. If it's working for you then great! I just know that many on here have complained of NSAIDS. And from my own experience the Aleve, Advil, & Tylenol all get my dh going. The Tylenol is not so bad but it doesn't relieve pain as well either. But I can take 1 now & again & get...
  13. djs, many times when ppl think they have had the blood test for celiac disease & it turned up negative it's b/c they were NOT given the full celiac panel. Why? Because most doctors don't even know what the full panel consists of & sometimes they even read what they did wrong. Also, if you had been gluten light it could have skewed the test. AND finally...
  14. lil'chefy, here are some links for you to read. The first deals with cross contamination issues. We can all use a refresher course in this from time to time. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  15. Ohhhhhhhhhh Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so sorry! You have to get your very own dedicated toaster. And cutting board & colander. You must be very, very careful b/c dh is soooo very sensitive to the tiniest amt. of gluten. Oh, I feel for you, I really do. I get them in my scalp too & it's just miserable, miserable! Also, in case you weren...
  16. It's different for everyone. I can't even say truthfully how long it takes for me in particular. I got glutened in Jan. just 1 month after I had the gluten-free diet down. I don't remember how long it took before the blisters came & I'm not sure they would be the same now b/c I'm much farther down the road than I was then. I'm doing my darndest NOT to...
  17. LOL! Eatmeat. Good point GFinDC & eatmeat. Thankfully this dairy near me does their own bottling (should we call it plasticing?) right there on their farm & they pasteurize b/c it's required by law but do not homogenize so the fat is floating on the top & I have to shake it every time I go to use it. They even deliver it in their own delivery...
  18. Oh GOODIE!!!!!! Two hot, wonderful doc to clone from. YES!!!!
  19. Aw heck, just tell him outright that us gals on the celiac site want to clone him! He'll be flattered. Tell him we're fans!
  20. He probably wants you to get the calcium from the dairy but you can take non dairy, gluten-free calcium supplements. Celiacs often have problems with dairy at first anyway & have to cut it out for a while until their gut heals. I am actually drinking a little milk. I found a dairy near me who doesn't use iodine dip cups or spray the udders with iodine...
  21. The bowel biopsy is not for celiac disease. The celiac disease biopsy comes from the small intestine through an endoscopy --- that's the one they go down your throat with. the celiac damage is in your small intestine not in your bowel.
  22. Fuming right along with you! This is a perfect example of why there are so many undx'd celiacs running around out there. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
  23. Yup. Nuts.com is where I get mine. Also nut butters. They have lots of gluten-free stuff; candies, baking goods, jelly beans & so on.
  24. Yeah! If we could only clone all the good docs. Sigh.
