  1. Awwwwwwwwww sweetie, you're SO welcome!
  2. It's really too bad that we can't trust our parents and we know they wouldn't hurt us for the world but look how hard it is for us to get all the rules down pat. It's even harder for them! My mom is gone but were she alive there's not a chance in heck that I would trust anything at her house and not because she wasn't great with hygiene but the rules are...
  3. You're almost there! Next week you'll get to go gluten free. Meanwhile to keep yourself busy you can start prepping your kitchen for gluten free-ness. Get a magic marker & start going through every single can, box, envelope, jar, condiments, everything & write gluten-free in big letters on ones that are gluten free & safe for you.
  4. It is recommended here that first degree relatives get tested but it's not an automatic thing. You have to ask to get them tested generally unless you have a really savvy doc.
  5. I have a friend who is anaphylactic to iodine. She has to watch everything red, pink or brown!
  6. Another thing I want to point out (and don't take it as me yelling at you please! - I'm rushed for time & can't use pretty words to soften) is that you are fairly new to the diet. You are still healing. Things can upset your tummy! Especially things that are acidic like what you drank, then, on top of that you ate spaghetti sauce which is acidic and contains...
  7. If you look at the bottom of the page you linked, you will see this: Copyright © 2008-2012 Gluten-Free-Diet-Help.com Notice the last date is 2012. That's 4 year old info. Always check when what you're relying on was written. 4 yr. old info. is not reliable. Further, it also says: The list is not all-inclusive. If there is an item not ...
  8. I think it's excellent & should be pinned to the top of the forum.
  9. I think you guys should really go for the Facebook page to start a group! You are now 3, who knows how many more are out there wondering if there is anyone else.
  10. Can you please link to where you found it's sweetened with barley malt? The Ocean Spray site says their beverages are free from wheat, barley & rye. Copied & pasted: Do Ocean Spray® products contain gluten? The protein gluten found in certain grains (wheat, barley, rye and oats or hybrids of these) is a concern for those with Celiac Disease....
  11. I agree with StephanieL. Don't borrow trouble right now. You need to just focus on the gluten free diet & get that down pat and get some healing done. Sometimes we celiacs tend to have problems with soy so you might try eliminating that IF you are still having troubles down the line a ways after eliminating dairy.
  12. Honeyville has the Certified Gluten Free logo on it for the Blanched Almond Flour. Open Original Shared Link
  13. You're welcome but in all fairness I must point out that it tests under 20ppm. The way the type is written is mistakable for extra zeros. I even had to do a double take, triple take on it. However, for every one you drink you're adding gluten. For what it's worth, I wouldn't be caught dead drinking anything but a true gluten free beer. Well, if I did...
  14. Try this site for gluten free eating. Stick to the ones reviewed by people who are actually celiac. Open Original Shared Link I used to live in Nashville at one point so I know exactly where you are. I wish you luck finding some other celiacs in your area. As to the friends who deserted you when you were sick; they weren't really friends. They...
  15. You're supposed to keep eating gluten until the endoscopy is done & you have the diagnosis.
  16. Sorry. You wouldn't believe how many times people post on here without realizing the last post is very, very old.
  17. Absolutely chicken or turkey will work for bone broth. Also fish -- the big boned ones like mackrel - throw in the head too. Personally I hate fish but if you don't then you're set! I think you're on the right track now. Just take a deep breath, calm down, take a step back & you'll feel a whole lot different.
  18. Here's a link for celiac savvy dietitians. I hope you can find one from this list near you. http://www.glutenfreedietitian.com/dietitians-specializing-in-celiac-disease/
  19. I think you're smart to go for a 2nd opinion. Thanks for letting us know what happened. We really do pay attention on here & wonder how things turned out for people. It's so nice when someone thinks to tell us instead of drifting off into never, never land.
  20. I sure am glad that got settled! All first degree relatives should be tested every 2 years in the absence of symptoms & immediately if symptoms present. This should help you a LOT. Read this thread & follow the links contained within: As to the Corona, I wouldn't be caught dead drinking it but it's your gut & your health. You might...
  21. One thing I would suggest is bone broth. It looks like it's allowed on a GP diet. Very nourishing and helps heal the gut! There are a ton of recipes on the internet but basically you boil bones with some vinegar (just a little) for 24 hours or use a crock pot. Sweet potatoes are allowed on both Fodmap & GP diets. VERY good food there! It looks like...
  22. hipretty, please don't count on this information being true today as the date of the prior post was in 2009, that is 7 years ago! The best thing to do would be to contact the company. BTW, I doubt a 7 year old seasoning is good anymore.
  23. If you can get them to look at these: Open Original Shared Link Quoted in part: Coeliac disease can develop and be diagnosed at any age. It may develop after weaning onto cereals that contain gluten, in old age or any time in between. Coeliac disease is most frequently diagnosed in people aged 40-60 years old. Delayed diagnosis is common and...
