  1. Ditto what Karen said.
  2. I second Karen & SSLRunner! BTW, I am type O & I have never been even remotely fat. In fact, just the opposite. I've always been too skinny! So that shoots the heck out of the type O gets fat theory.
  3. I can't imagine it taking more than 2 weeks. I just did a google search & everything came up with melanoma biopsies and about the longest those took was 10 days. Maybe she said weeks but meant to say days? 5 days? Why don't you give them a call tomorrow & ask if you misunderstood.
  4. there are plenty here who don't have an official dx. The fates conspire against them or the doctors do; one or the other. You are not alone!!!
  5. Ah, I see. I'm sorry. A word of advice. Ditch the barley NOW. No more rye either. It isn't worth it. Remember that if it is dh & it sounds like it is, it can come & go at will whether you're eating gluten grains or not until such time as all the antibodies are out of your skin. Meanwhile, if you're eating gluten grains, the antibodies are getting...
  6. This is a very interesting and informative thread. Please do update when you can.
  7. Very good. I am so happy to hear this and that it was not tolerated by the school. I'm glad the principal put it the way he did saying it would be treated like a deliberate poisoning because that is what it was. Thank you for the update.
  8. I'm sorry but we can't give you a diagnosis as we are not doctors. It's too bad that you were tested so long after having been gluten free. Surely you got false negatives. You said it yourself, you obviously react strongly to gluten. You may very well be celiac but as you already know, there's no way for you to get a dx without doing a gluten challenge. Maybe...
  9. Fundog, how was your skin biopsy done? If it was taken ON a lesion, it was done incorrectly.
  10. Open Original Shared Link Gene testing is really used to rule out celiac disease. Something like over 30% of the population has the genes for celiac but only about 1% of those will ever actually have celiac so if you come up positive on the genetic test it only means you're the same as 1/3 of the population NOT that you have celiac disease. Save your...
  11. Here's the full celiac serum panel: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA Also can be termed this way: Endomysial Antibody IgA Tissue Transglutaminase IgA GLIADIN IgG GLIADIN IgA Total...
  12. Everyone is an individual and reacts differently so to answer your question, yes, she can be fine for hours & hours & then the bottom falls out. Some people it's a day, maybe 2. AND the reaction as well as reaction time can change from exposure to exposure.
  13. Woooooooooo Hoooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!! Hooray for that! Allright then, you just have to hang in there another week.
  14. I hear you Gemini. It's nucking futz!
  15. I went gluten free & never looked back! I have dh, the celiac rash. That makes it pretty darn easy to go gluten-free the moment you figure it out. I was not about to continue eating gluten for even one more day just so the medical establishment would be satisfied in my dx. There was not a moment of doubt in my mind that I had dh & therefore celiac...
  16. Thank you Awol.
  17. I saw this the other day too & like Karen, wondered at the last line of the article. The article had me once again thinking about my deceased brother who was dx'd paranoid schizophrenic in his late 20's. He also had alternating constipation/diarrhea but "they" always blamed it on his meds for the schizophrenia. We, his family, knew he had those issues...
  18. Make sure both you & your mom get the full celiac blood panel. Here it is: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Deamidated Gliadin Peptide (DGP) IgA and IgG Total Serum IgA Also can be termed this way: Endomysial Antibody IgA Tissue Transglutaminase...
  19. Are you scheduled for a biopsy? Are you eating gluten? Any changes in your diet can affect the accuracy of your biopsy results. You must be eating gluten every day, in an amount equivalent to at least 1 slice of bread, for at least 2 to 3 weeks before the procedure. If you are scheduled for a biopsy and are not eating gluten, talk to your doctor about...
  20. Your doctor is wrong. You need to continue eating gluten until the endoscopy! Yes, there have been people who were told the same thing as you & so they quit eating gluten & then they had the endoscopy & it was negative and then they were in a real pickle because the doctor told them wrong.
  21. He needs to be eating gluten right up until the biopsy. A cracker per day should do it. Plenty of kids have had an endoscopy. As I understand it, they don't even put them fully to sleep but he still won't remember a thing. He will need an official dx for a 504 plan in school & later in college. You could ask the doc if he will dx based on serum...
  22. Okay then. I surely hope you can find the source of what's going on. Yes, do give the gluten-free diet a good solid 6 month try.
