Potatoes did give me problems at first but recently I can eat them in smaller amounts. And peeled of course. Tomato still bothers me and sals spices really get to me, even the scent of them. I made the stuffing and the only spice was sage. I use it a lot and it doesn't bother me. Sad for me, I am a spiceaholic but one thing I noticed right off on the gluten...

ARCHIVED The Indian Food Thread

Dry Style Potato Curry 6 med. potatoes 2 med. onions 2 med. green chili peppers 1 tsp. ginger paste 1 tsp. garlic paste 10 curry leaves 1/2 tsp. black mustard seeds 1/2 tsp. turmeric pwd. (I add a little more) 1/2 c. oil This is better if you cook the potatoes the night before and refrigerate then cut up next day. Boil potatoes, peel and... -
This is my favorite soup. It comes out different every time you make it. You can add whatever you want to this soup and it is always good. A pot of stock (any kind, homemade or bought) Seasonings (fit the seasoning to the meat/veg) beef/tomato is good with mexican or italian spices. I like thyme with poultry etc. Don't forget garlic. Be brave, experiment...

ARCHIVED Need Advice: Cafateria Style Meals For 3 Days
sora replied to RiaG14's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Having worked in a cafeteria my advice would be not to eat anything there. Except maybe bottled drinks and bags of chips, things that you could read the ingredients. There is too much risk of Cc. Even packages of eggs/veg etc are prepared and packaged on site. Ours were prepared by the grill cook. Things like ground beef sometimes have grain added at manufacture... -
Thanks for posting that link. My poops have changed a lot in the short time I have been gluten free, it's good to know what 'normal' is.

Again this is great news. I really got hit with perfume on the bus News Years Eve. And since Christmas have been hit with CC so much that I thought about Zantac a lot. Can't wait for the doc appt.

Pom. molasses sounds wonderful. I will try some. If I have leftover turmeric rice (rarely) I will have it with some swiss chard sauteed with garlic. The other versions sound interesting too, I will have to try them. Glad everyone is enjoying it. I have two Indian favorites that I will post to the Indian food thread.

Just to update, I am sticking to a diet of stuff I know for sure don't bother me. keeping my food diary, symptoms, sleep patterns etc. Monday night my son and a friend made gluten pizza and I had a horrible and painful reaction when it was baking. Part of the reaction was due to the hot sauce they put on it. I have become very, very sensitive to the smell...

So does that mean it is authentic? I got this recipe 40 years ago in Highschool Home Ec class. The turmeric rice makes all the difference.

This is one of my all time favorite recipes. Easy, simple ingredients and excellent for company too. I doubt it is Arabian though. Other than baking I don't usually measure so if you have questions on amounts just ask. To be eaten with turmeric rice. Arabian Stew About one pound lamb stew meat (beef works too) Brown the lamb or beef Add...

One of the cc issues was a jigsaw puzzle that many of us worked on over the holidays. Imagine that, it's everywhere.

Thanks for that link. I just checked the ingredients of the ham and there are no sulfite's. It does have preservatives and one is nitrate. I have been looking up info on sulfite's. There is a lot of conflicting info out there and it will take time to sift through it all.

Ohhh, tell me it's not so! It's my favorite and I bought a 10 lb ham. I am off to root through the garbage and pick a label.

I was just wondering this myself, for my son.

I thought I would update. My last post here was Friday morning and the migraine was going away. I had a good day, slightly euphoric and tore through my kitchen my nose running like a faucet the whole time. I found cc issues everywhere. Things I didn't think of before. I change my kitchen towel frequently but realized my son and I still use the same one, things...

I am sorry you had to go through all that. Bless you for being on here to help the rest of us. I did actually have the thought this morning that it might be Gluten Cc. My son lives here and he is not totally gluten free and is off work for the holidays and has been eating a lot of junk food. Maybe I am just getting over exposed. I will scrub down the...

I had a bad night. Waking up over and over and a nightmare. A very detailed nightmare, end of the world, how are we going to survive. Very telling I think. I will make an appointment with the doc and the dietitian today and I am booked with an allergist but not until June. I am going to basics today, rice, plain meat etc. Keeping my food diary. I...

I just checked everything except the turkey (packaging is gone) and there are sulfite's in the balsamic vinegar I used on the roasted veggies. I ate some Christmas day and then had some again last night for dinner. Just looked up the turkey, no sulfite's. Maybe we found it! I started another food diary. Maybe that will help. Is there anything that naturally...

I just had a decaf. coffee with coconut milk. Within 15 minutes I am having a histamine reaction. The coconut milk, canned, has x-gum, E466 (thickener) and sulfites. Are histamine reactions usual for x-gum or sulfites? Charlotte

Forgot to add that I have been having some reflux. Never had it before that I can remember. Charlotte

I am suspecting dairy. I have had a migraine for 3 days. (had them my entire life) I have been having this productive cough since October when I first got ill. Sometimes it gets worse, sometimes bad wheezing. I have noticed a connection with being cc'd with wheat. Now dairy. I ate grilled cheese last night and when I went to bed I could not sleep with...

I thought the Breyers and the coffeemate were safe. I have had coffeemate without problems before but this is a new container. I did have a second coffee but used milk just in case. Dairy has never been a problem. I made the gravy with gluten-free br. rice flour that I have used a lot. This is so new to me I guess I may need to do the elimination diet...

I am so new to all this I could be reacting to something other than wheat. I have had constant symptoms since. Yesterday I ate turkey, cranberry sauce, gravy, chex with milk, the oven risotto with turkey in it and broccoli and pie with the ice cream. I got up an hour ago and was ok but now am in pain and the itchy face, mouth etc. The only thing I...

The Chex (same box) has been fine but the breyers is new.
