  1. Almost one more day down...Gluten-Free since Sunday morning
  2. Reading that list of symptoms has truly been a life altering experience.
  3. I very commonly have been bloated. I remember for my prom, when my date took me out to dinner, I ate a salad, b/c I was so scared of bloating up in my dress. I wake up feeling normal and unbloated, but go to sleep feeling fat and huge. I have had a life long battle with my weight. When I was an infant the doctor instructed my mother to feed me cream...

    ARCHIVED Dapsone

Dapsone does not do anything for the itch, but if you religiously take it for 6 mos. it will heal your existing bumps and patches of DH. It sure did for me anyway.
  5. Thanks, that was some useful info. My little girl doesnt like cheese or potatoes already! I am hoping the cheese disloke goes away, as I think maybe it hurts her stomach.
  6. I have been almost Gluten-Free (had a slip up) for 3 days. I am climbing the walls wanting sugar, Gluten-Free starchy snacks. Its like I cant get satiated! Is this normal? Geez, I certainly cant keep this up!
  7. wow! where did you read that? It's like they are talking about me.

    ARCHIVED Dapsone

I took Dapsone for 22 years. It made me a little tired at first, but cleared up my disease bumps over a months time period. I am not taking it anymore (6 mos,)and have been Gluten-Free for only about 48 hours. I no longer have DH symptoms, except for overly sensitive skin (itchy for no reason). Just don't go off the Gluten-Free diet while you are on it...
  9. One more thing, could elevated triglycerides have anything to do with gluten problems? (my Mom)
  10. That first line of my last post was supposed to say thank you, not sure where those letters went:-)
  11. Tha, by the way all of you for your information, advice and support. I am currently trying diligently to talk my Mom into Gluten-Free. She has profound osteoporosis and is deficient in all vitamins, especially vitamins b and d. She was diagnosed with Barrett's esophogus, has terrible heartburn (as do I), has (sounds weird and disgusting) whitish poop,...
  12. Thank you for all of your suggestions I don't think I will suggest the celiac blood panel b/c mine is negative, my Mom's is negative. I think it will just be a big waste of money. I will just tell a white lie at Elle's school and tell then that she has tested positive. I know it sounds sneaky, but I realize now how prevalent this gene runs in our family...
  13. My mother has been in and out of the endoscopy, colonoscopy, GI tables. My grandmother has trouble also, I believe. My mom just had some kind of endocrine tumor removed from her stomach. She bloats much worse than I could ever dream of. She bloats so bad that she starts out every morning a size 10 and goes to sleep a size 14-16. She, like me has been...
  14. happy about the tator tots! Generic are not Gluten-Free! Thanks
  15. Not trying to direspect anyone's opinion, and yes, I'd rather you say that I am fine, but arguably many celiac symptoms are also symptoms of so many other disorders. I am frustrated, and depressed about this diagnosis. Don't ask, but for some ridiculous reason, I figured all this time I could just ignore my ailment. For some reason I became a certified...
  16. For the record, I have only very sporadically been on a Gluten-Free diet, as my physicians told me it was too expensive and complicated. They recommended the tanning bed and dapsone to deal with DH. Now I have several autoimmune diseases and sun damage!
  17. I am getting ready to put my lil girl on Gluten-Free diet. She is already sooooo picky. I am worried. What will she do @ preschool @ snack time? When she goes to kindergarden, how will her school handle the lunchroom? Any suggestions?
  18. So, I am Gluten-Free for only 24 hours... That said I have had a diagnosis of DH for 22 years. I am 35. I have successfully controlled my DH symptoms with 100mg. of Dapsone for pretty much the whole time. I have been Dapsone free and eating a regular diet for at least 6 mos., no symptoms. Under what criteria could I say that I was in a successful remission...
  19. In what way are your hands deformed?
  20. Gluten-Free 24 hours! Making pancakes for the rest of my family :-( right now. Eventually (soon) I will change my little girls diet. That will be soooo hard though. She is sooo picky and not at all open to trying new things.
  21. I had a celiac panel run, whatever that means. I wasnt negative on my biopsy, endoscopy wise. I was positive 3 times with the DH skin test. As a matter of fact last year I had an extensive test for lupus, as I was getting spontaneous temperatures of 102, was sick almost nonstop with respiratory stuff for about 3 months. Also had one eye half open looking...
  22. My little girl had a huge strawberry hemangioma that blocked off her nasal passages @ birth. She was on prednisone, a very very high dose from 2 months till 14 mos. The meds stopped the hemangioma from getting larger, but she stutters, and is currently getting therapy for her eyes. The tubes in her eyes stopped growing as a result of the prednisone. When...
  23. I am blown away by what you wrote. I sometimes have night sweats, though not often. I am having serious itching down there, but embarrassingly have had all VD tests recently, even though I and my husband have been monogamaus for 7 1/2 years, and have had 2 kids (4 & 1 1/2). All cultures come back normal: I know I am not my "norm". I don't get it.
  24. As of last night, I am gluten free. I am going to try it. In the past it has been especially difficult for me b/c I no longer haveevident symptoms. When my Dh showed up I was going through puberty. It covered my scalp, was all over my knees (shin to mid thigh), some on my back, on the insides of my elbows, and all over my bottom. My Mom took me to specialist...
