  1. That's really great work you're doing.
  2. Villi damage certainly wouldn't be healed within 3 weeks being gluten free. How about a biopsy to prove Celiac? Also, he wasn't gluten free for those three weeks if he was getting gluten. I would have the test done after a a week or two of eating gluten. I think your doctor is a better person to consult over this issue of how long you need to have been...
  3. They should test all pregnant women for celiac disease. That would prevent the severe malnutrition of an undx celiac disease pregnant woman starving and malnurishing her unborn baby and increasing it's risk for schizophrenia whether or not the baby has celiac disease.
  4. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Here are two great sites with great foods. We're a fan of all kinnikinnick products, especially the white tapioca bread, chocolate donuts, pizza crusts, bages... Chebe is very good. Look around here for all that people do with their chebe. It's great.
  5. Open Original Shared Link Here is a link to a post I did for someone who said the food was too expensive. There are lots of great suggestions on the links all around that original question. You can totally afford to be gluten free. You just can't afford not to at least try it. Are you in the U.S.?
  6. You might be interested in a book called Wheat free Worry free by Danna Korn. It's popular around her, though I haven't read it.
  7. 1. How do we explain to our daughter that she can't have a particular food that she loves? Remind her that she has Celiac Disease, that she'll get sick, and that she can have other foods now. In our house, the only celiac is our youngest. We did not all join in on the gluten free diet. The foods that were gluten free were his exclusively. This made him...
  8. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link These are two companies that make bread products. Kinnikinnick has great white breads, great donuts, great pizza crusts, great chocolate chip muffins, decent bagels. Shipping is reasonable at $10 per order. Chebe is a bread mix. We use it in a variety of ways.. I prefer the garlic onion flavor...
  9. Why would a doctor have to be willing? Can't you just ask for the test? If you can't get the testing done, go gluten free. 100% gluten free. See if that makes you feel better. If you feel better when not eating gluten, remain gluten free. Being gluten free isn't that difficult and worth it for better health.
  10. Vegetable oil is gluten free unless for some strange reason there is a gluten containing ingredient added to it. I don't know where you would have heard this information.
  11. Rice Dream lists gluten in teeny-tiny letters on the back of the container...not anywhere near the ingredients. That really ticked me off because I'd bought the stuff and was pouring it when I noticed! <--- That's what I'd look like if I'd glutened my child.
  12. Would you be willing to get another blood test? If you're routinely glutening yourself, it should work. Just so you know, you will not see a health improvement on a mostly gluten free diet. You must be 100% gluten free for improvement to take place. That's not negotiable. Even small mistakes will make you sick, for days.
  13. Did you have the blood test?
  14. Hey! I believe in alternative medicine!!
  15. I know lactose intolerance is not as severe as Celiac disease. I thought Celiac's lacked an enzyme to digest gluten???????? Like lacking an enzyme to digest dairy????? That was the association between the two I was going for. Am I wrong? I know the body immune system attacks the body with Celiac, but I thougth it was because there was an enzyme...
  16. Open Original Shared Link Jonesy, this may be the link you referred to. Hmmmm. Makes sense. I think the theory that an unborn child who is being malnurished by it's malnurished celiac disease mother makes more and more sense. I remember when I had morning sickness I was worried about the babies not getting enough nutrition to grow, but my dr told me...
  17. Sorry, Jonesy... I re-read your post and the confusion was mine! Typical.
  18. Jonesy, Thanks for the response. I've been tested for celiac disease as have my two other children and we're cleared of any celiac disease gene and sensitivity. The Celiac is coming from my husband's side of the family. He comes from a large Irish family with a staggering history of health issues that all sound like celiac disease. My inlaws are very...
  19. https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid...-53105064942.04 Here is a link to the safe and forbidden list. It won't be so difficult to keep her gluten free. I have a seven year old son who has Celiac. We do fine. There are some cute t-shirts that have sayings like, "Gluten free Flower" on them. Getting her some might help her begin to take...
  20. Open Original Shared Link So, consider this scenario...Your mother is pregnant with you and she has Celiac Disease. She doesn't realize it and while she is pregnant with you, she is malnurished and you are malnurished. You are born, you develop Celiac disease, or not, but also are more susceptible to developing schizophrenia. I was wondering WHY, WHY...
  21. There are lots of gluten free bouillons available. Probably not in the regular shopping store, though. I believe there's a gluten free substitute for JUST about everything these days. Also, you could make it yourself.
  22. Stephanie, Yes, I found SpongeBob!
  23. You have to read the ingredients. At the health food stores you will find gluten free brands. I found the "Organic Gourmet Vegetable Bouillon" at WholeFoods. It says "gluten free" right on the box. Other wise you could make him a homemade broth by simmering vegetables, garlic (or garlic salt), spices, even chicken meat, bones, etc...strain it and serve...
  24. You're not licking envelopes when paying bills, or using shampoos with gluten, or lipstick with gluten? Have you heard of accupuncture curing Lactose intolerance? That would be sort of similar to Celiac Disease in that it's a lack of an enzyme, right? Or am I totally wrong on that? That's not a rare occurance!! I think accupuncture is great, don't...
