ARCHIVED Celebrities With Celiac?
Jnkmnky replied to lauderdalehawk44's topic in Publications & Publicity
People with Celiac disease are aware that the disease is often misdx and that others are suffering with it because of the lack of awareness. Famous or not, those dx need to help end the suffering of those who have celiac disease by spreading the word. There are no mitagating factors such as "celebrity status" that absolve you of this responsibility. Choosing... -
ARCHIVED Pizza Recipe, Or Mix
Jnkmnky replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I think the rolling pin was a gift from my wedding dozens of years ago. I actually threw it out after rolling the chebe dough. I figured I wouldn't be doing THAT twice! Some people find Kinnikinnick at the health food stores. My WholeFoods is a pain in the butt and doesn't keep things stocked. So, I find ordering on line is the way to go. I never... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Intolerance...
Jnkmnky replied to Rachel--24's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
According to that book I suggested to you, Dangerous Grains, I believe there's a spectrum of gluten sensitivity that begins with sensitivity and developes into intolerance. So I would say your body is not into gluten and won't be changing that stance for the rest of your life. -
ARCHIVED Pizza Recipe, Or Mix
Jnkmnky replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Rachel---- One more thing. I don't cook either. I can relate. Chebe is EZ. So easy that my kids make it and I bake it. You can add rice milk instead of milk, or just plain water. I've done that and didn't notice a bit of difference. My kids really liked the Pizza cust made with the pizza flavored Chebe. I prefer the pizza sticks we make because it... -

Kinnikinnick makes frozen single serve crusts. Perfect size for one person. Come in bags of .... 4 or is it 6? I order a lot all at once from kinnikinnick because they have a flat $10 shipping fee. It's awesome not to spend $40 bucks on shipping!!!! I like K's white tapioca rice bread, their chocolate glazed and chocolate dipped donuts, the chocolate... -

We use Kinnikinnick crusts. Open Original Shared Link or....Chebe if you want to roll out the dough and bake it that way. Chebe crusts are super easy to prepare. All chebe is. Open Original Shared Link Chebe has four flavors, I believe.. There's plain, garlic/onion, pizza and cinnamon. Chebe is great because it's so easy. I think it has a slight... -
ARCHIVED Gf Cord Dogs?
Jnkmnky replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link We make Chebe every week, at least. We make Pizza sticks with any of the flavors *except cinnamon*. You can chop pepperoni, etc...add mozzerella cheese, extra garlic salt to the mix, roll into sticks and bake. We eat the sticks with a side of spaghetti sauce for dipping. We also roll the chebe flat and fill little flat pieces... -

Tiffany, I hardly think you're "selfish". You are definitely a "good little egoist". -
ARCHIVED Celebrities With Celiac?
Jnkmnky replied to lauderdalehawk44's topic in Publications & Publicity
Well, selfishness exists. I've seen proof. So I also believe in selfishness. But as a preferred way of life? It's not a choice I would make or recomment or respect. Actually, I would openly disdain anyone for choosing to live a selfish existence as I find it lacks the necessary humanity we need in order to get along. I'd go so far as to suggest accute... -
ARCHIVED Gf Cord Dogs?
Jnkmnky replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Cord dogs. haha. that was funny. Wrap chebe around your dog and bake. That's what we do. After you wrap it, roll it back and forth to get it really sealed in there and smooth. -
ARCHIVED Celebrities With Celiac?
Jnkmnky replied to lauderdalehawk44's topic in Publications & Publicity
I don't equate Celiac disease to a youngish, recently widowed mother just dx with lung cancer the day after the media is foaming at the mouth because Peter Jennings died from lung cancer. The primary problem people with celiac disease face is AWARENESS. Simply put, awareness would bring the harmful aspect of Celiac disease to a significant halt. A celebrity... -

Oprah already had to deal with the stupid satelite sisters who made those rancid coments about parents of children with Celiac disease in her magazine. -
ARCHIVED Non-gf Hot Dogs
Jnkmnky replied to connole1056's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Someone here discovered that Nathan's have gluten!!!! I was shocked. I didn't know any hot dogs had gluten. Gotta say, I'm one lucky mommy that I haven't glutened my son at any one of the dozen bbq's I took the kids to this summer! Mommy guilt sucks. -
Open Original Shared Link This person has asked for help in a couple of spots now. Can we give him a shot of concentrated information to get him going in the right, gluten free direction? Thanks.
-
Ok... You need help..fast. Going light on the breads means you're still eating gluten. Yeast free doesn't mean gluten free. You have to eliminate gluten if you want to try the gluten free diet to see if you feel better. Most celiacs will tell you they have their own butter stick, peanut butter jar, cream cheese, jelly, mayo, etc....the reason is that...

ARCHIVED New Member Here....hello Everyone!
Jnkmnky replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Dancesw/wolves.... You definitely can't have every food made by the manufacturer's listed in Kaiti's post. Those companies are helpful because when you see a word like "modified food starch", you don't have to call the company to see if the mfs is a gluten containing source. You can't have hot pockets, beer, whole grain cereals, etc... Gluten is in many... -

ARCHIVED Celebrities With Celiac?
Jnkmnky replied to lauderdalehawk44's topic in Publications & Publicity
Well, I would say it's the highest height of selfishness not to promote awareness when you're in the public spotlight the way a celebrity is. I'd be disgusted with any celebrity I found out had C.D. then concealed it to maintain an image of "health" in order to make tons of money. No one gets out of this life without dying first. You might as well do what... -

I went to my local bookstore and asked them to order it for me. It's at amazon if you choose to get it. It's very enlightening. -
ARCHIVED Has Nobody Else Tried The Mesquite Flour?
Jnkmnky replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Open Original Shared Link this will take you right to the link to order the mesquite flour. I think this will be a great addition to our thanksgiving and christmas meals. You can add it as a spice to pumpkin or apple pie. -
ARCHIVED Has Nobody Else Tried The Mesquite Flour?
Jnkmnky replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Open Original Shared Link I ordered it from these guys. It looks pricey, but you only need a small amount in your cooking to get a huge flavor impact. It's sweet right out of the bag and chocolatey, even. I love the gravy we make with it. I can't think of another food that tastes quite like it. But it's not bbq tasting mesquite. That's a whole different... -

That made me laugh Nice picture, Stephanie. No one's going to believe you get depressed with a smile like that always attached to your posts! I would recommend the book Dangerous Grains to you, Rachel. It tells the tale of Gluten sensitivity on through Celiac Disease in a very readable format. They heap all the medical hooey at the back of the... -
ARCHIVED Has Nobody Else Tried The Mesquite Flour?
Jnkmnky replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
All three of my children loved the chicken recipe. I've made it twice now. Also, my kids really like the cinnamon chebe with a tbs of mesquite added. Here's a link to a real recipe. It's the one I was sort of using. Open Original Shared Link It's the one for baked chicken and apples. I didn't follow it exactly. -
ARCHIVED I Think My Nephew Has Celiac, But His Parents...
Jnkmnky replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Who will be hurt in the long run? Them? No. That kid could end up with any one of the scary, painful, debilitating auto-immune disease connected to Celiac. I'd take the gloves off and enlist the assistance of all family members. What is wrong with people? How can they flirt with the disasterous effects of an auto-immune disease? I'm sick from this.
