Ok, I just went around work. I found 2 different people who worked at Wendy's during High School. They said they had never heard of such a thing. The chili is not made from left over hamburgers.

ARCHIVED Oreo Like, Gluten Free Cookie
grantschoep posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone found an Oreo like gluten-free cookie. I started doing some looking and found a number of wheat free ones, but non that say gluten-free. Odd, mi-del cookies, have the ingredients here Open Original Shared Link free.com/glu/showdetl.cfm...ID=2251&CATID=1 But they just say wheat free, I can't seem to see an ingredient that is bad, ok maybe... -
Hmmm it had me enter my age. I must have entered it wrong, as its telling me I am not old enough to use this webpage. Maybe I need to be over 40... Gotta find the bad cookie...

Yeah, I'm not to sure about that A&W list, they also have popcorn shrimp, and "breaded fish" as not having gluten... hmm I think I may have to send them an email. Here's the link if anyone else wants to bug them about it too... Open Original Shared Link

grantschoep posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey, I was just thinking if there could be a connection with celiac deases Quick background. Summer of 2005 sucked big time for me. All spring I had been feeling sicker and sicker. Also started getting really weak and so on. Found out my heart valve's were about shot. Had to have major heart surgery and artificial valves put in. This happened a few... -
ARCHIVED A-1 Steak Sauce
grantschoep replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, Kraft. Thats what I was thinking too. I had read the ingredients, then saw it was Kraft, and though COOL I can eat this again! I actaully like it best on french fries when I go out to eat.... but DOH those are usually always cross contaiminated of course. Oh well. I'll still grab some for home. -
ARCHIVED A-1 Steak Sauce
grantschoep posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok... I'm a fan of good tasting steaks, but also a fine of cheap steaks with some sauce on. Burgers too, so when I am in the cheap mode I used to always put A-1 on stuff. I swear for the life of me I found out A-1 was full of flour... Well yesterday I looked and it looked to me like A-1 might be gluten-free.... I'm not sure where I got the original idea... -
ARCHIVED Help! Looking For Kinnikinik!

Cool. I like the sound of that. I, got my grocery store to start carrying Annie's gluten-free mac and cheese. But I feel kind of dumb now for doing it, as I don't buy it... I've found I like just buying the tinkyada elbow's and buying Kraft's Mac and Cheese for just the cheese. It actually ends up being cheaper... -
One thing that can usually be safe, is a baked potatoe. Make sure they don't mess it up before the give it to you by cutting it open and adding nasty stuff like sour cream and that to it. (I just had that done last weekend... I hate sour cream) Basically if you get the baked potatoe, baked, and yet un cutinto, you can at least feel pretty good that the...

ARCHIVED Nature Valley Granola Bars..gf?
grantschoep replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Understood. Though, some bars grill the wings. That how I cook them at home. I've always felt grilling tastes better than deep frying. The bars I use to hit alot in California bay area grilled the wings, and never added any non gluten-free stuff to them, so they were known to be good. Just need to know how each place makes them. Just like anywhere else. Also... -
ARCHIVED Nature Valley Granola Bars..gf?
grantschoep replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
In complete disagreement. The acutual sauce is often gluten free. Franks, Crystal, and a number of other cayenne pepper sauces are gluten-free. The problem here is that they deep fry em. Deep frying in the same as other breaded things. Now, keep in mind, some places also have something really really nasty, breaded wings. These of course are not gluten... -

Who's hot dog on a stick? A number of hot dogs are gluten-free, namely I buy Oscar Meyer all beef. But a lot of other ones are. Oscer meyer are fairly high end for me too... I am usually the "cheaper the better" kind of guy. I'm not into the fancy natural casing ones or anything. I want em nice and cheap with scary bits inside(just so its not gluten) :>...

That would be me. But I just copied that from my Dad, who I got the gluten-free bread recipe from. I still am slow on the tuna can collection thing. Only have 3 so far. I just don't care for tuna sandwhiches much any more with out bread. Oh wait, I need the tuna cans to make bread. But I need the bread to eat the tuna... hmm... Oh yeah, thats what girlfriends... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch, When Its Good
grantschoep posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
So, I know Modified Food Starch can be OK sometimes. I also know companies like Kraft, don't hide things so I should feel safe. So when I read a Kraft label that has "Modified Food Starch" but NO parenthesis's after it listing what that contains, can I feel safe eating it? What is it made out of then? -
OH here is what I had to eat, the pictures are spot on what it looked like actaully. I think this was probably the best gluten-free meal I have had out to eat. Open Original Shared Link On the webpage, I had the "Wild King Salmon" and "Chocolate Nirvana" for dessert!
-
Ok, I need to tell other celiac's about this. I went out to eat tonight with some friends. I had looked at the menu before at was pretty sure I could figure something out to eat. I had called as well, and the person I spoke with seemed to understand what gluten free meant. Ok, so we got to the resaturant, its called the Sunflower, its in Boulder, CO....

Quote... "There are a couple of bar-food type products you can have, " hehe, I was reading these posts fast today, and read that and though. Oooo bar food. Yes, I love that, I didn't think I could eat most of it. Then realized you were talking about bar as in " rectangluar prism shaped food". And not bar as in" long counter top surface that you order... -
ARCHIVED Cross Contamination While Eating Out
grantschoep replied to rttobe's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I've never heard any such thing. Every Burger King I have ever seen has one set of fry'er's for everything. The only fast food I have known that has separate fryer's is McDonalds. Sure, I've heard some people say they have a secret McD's somewhere that doesn't do this. But I still really doubt it. I worked at a number of different McD's across the country... -
ARCHIVED Chocolate Chip Cookies
grantschoep replied to greg-gard's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
If you have a Wild Oats around, they make a chocolate chip cookie that is better than anything Ihave had. I have the kinnininnik and mi-del, both I thought were ok, until I tried the Wild Oats type. I thought they were actually really really good. I was extreamly surprised at them. -
ARCHIVED Kroger Products, Artificial Flavor
grantschoep posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just thought I would pass this info on. I had called Kroger, to find out if there brand of pudding(Chocolate in this case) was gluten-free. The one item I wasn't sure of was Artifical Flavoring. I spoke with a nutrionist who works for Kroger. She gaurenteed that ALL products branded by Kroger use entirely synthetic artificial flavoring, meaning it contains... -
