  1. Cheeze whiz is gluten free. Also, Progresso's Cream of Mushroom Soups is gluten free, and tastes pretty good for being right out a can.
  2. I use Promise spread. I like it, yeah, margerine in general is not that great for you. But I abhore the taste of butter. The amount I consume is not going to do harm. Besides, most gluten free people end up eating very healthy anyhow, as we don't get to consume the "mass produced" fast food and other things as much.
  3. Agreed with Momma Goose. Distilled Vinegar is fine. Basically, because, of the distillation process. I don't know how distilled vinegar is made exactly, but this is how distilled water goes. Boil water, collect the steam that is forming. Cool steam back down and turn it back into (distilled)water. The gluten proteins are too large to transfer in...
  4. Great idea. I just mailed Hormel(one of my favorite makers of "normal" gluten free food, i.e. Hormel Chili and Dinty Moore beef stew) and let them know that "... for this Thanksgiving, I will be buying a Jenny-O turkey, specifically because you provide a fine selection of gluten free items"
  5. As for Cocoa Puffs I think they must make them in two different locations. I have went in to the same grocery store one day, and find one without wheat, and then a week later, I will go in, and see one with wheat. I don't think its "old" versus "new" as each time I check, the exp. date is moving forward, but sometimes the labels have wheat, and some show...
  6. I'm eating it now, I take my left overs for lunch. Its a great basic meal, not hard to prepare either. Get's me back down to the roots of eating. Amounts should be multiplied for those eating, but its a good basic gluten-free meal. Meal: Baked Chicken peices, skinned(breasts, legs, etc, etc) Canned Peas, Corn, Beans, Carrots Baked Potato The...
  7. As with lots of drugs, some people react very differently. I, for example am some one that took Ambian, and don't remeber about 3 weeks of my life. Ambian is a great sleep aid for people, for me, one rare side effect was complete amnesia, true I was very sick at the time. Benadryl, I know the official brand name is gluten-free. I used to have to take it...
  8. Note, not all San-J is gluten free. Make sure you find the one that says wheat free. It has the silver labelling, and says "Organic Tamari" - Wheat Free Soy Sauce
  9. So I go married and stuff. Fulll gluten-free cake and on one noticesd. My gods these weeks have ben crazy. Now marrried Grant
  10. I had them this summer at a gluten-free picnic. basically it was just hotdogs wrapped in Chebe. They were pretty good.
  11. Articifial and natural flavoring is basically an unknown quantity. If you read the definition of it on something like www.wikipedia.com, it basically can be anything. If its companies like Kraft, and it says artificial and natural flavoring, but doesn't mention wheat or anything else bad. Then it is safe.
  12. Last year, when I was very sick(Spent basically May, June and July in the hospital) I was having Dannon Strawberry yogurt I had called the company a few times, and they basically wouldn't say it was or wasn't. But, it didn't make me sick. I was in a low enough state of health that even tiiny cross contaimination was enough to make me horrible ill. But then...
  13. I know in the stricter Luthern churches(my parents church Missouri Synod) they will not allow anything but wheat wafers. Though, many Luthern churches do bare huge similarities to Catholisim. When I got with my parents Churc I just palm the wafer. It really ticks my mom off, as "your Dad eats them all the time" But I know I am way more sensitive to gluten...
  14. Here's some store bought type ones.. Open Original Shared Link Note, their webpage has some problems. I emailed them once awhile back and they had paid someone to set it up once, and then some things broke and they don't have anyone that knows enough html to fix it. So that above link is the cord dogs, use the front webage to get to the store locater...
  15. I'd assume they are changing the labelling at some point. At least a the grocery stores around here, Cambell's sounds still do not have the new labeling showing wheat and other allergens. They must have had a ton of labels stocked up...
  16. That batch was my typical base mix I like to start with. 1 16 oz bottel Franks Hot Sauce 1 12 oz bottle Crystal Hot Sauce (getting hard to find, I but it when out in California bay area now) 1 7 oz bottle of Pico-Pica (usually with taco sauces) 1/4 pound stick of un-salted butter. 1. Put wings on grill start grilling. 2. Put butter in man, melt...
  17. I've always just grilled mine, i.e. outside on a B.B.Q.(or grill depending on where you are in the US) I'm for it even if its cold(very). In college, a friend of mine took a picture of me standing outside grilling the wings, with a beer in hand(not gluten-free...), and next to me was a thermometer that read something liek - 28 F (that negative)
  18. I didn't care for it at first. Not a fan of light beers, but then, since its the only one I can get out here now, I've gotten to like it pretty well. Its nice to go over to two of my friends house's and grab a beer out of their fridge(two different friends keep it in stock for me). What is extra great, is one guys wife loves it, so she keeps a good amount...
  19. Tokyo Joes, slogan is "fast food japense" is pretty good. Their Chicken Curry is gluten-free. They also have a gluten-free soy sauce you can get, though its tastes much like LaChoy. I had sent them an email awhile back and they said the following, keep in mind this is about a year ago. I need to send another question seeing if they ever got more... ...
  20. For Tequila From Jose Quervo web site "Q: Which Jose Cuervo products are gluten-free? A: All Jose Cuervo tequilas, Authentic Cuervo Margaritas, Margarita Minis, and Golden Margaritas are gluten-free." I'd post the link to the above, but its one of those annoying flash/music interface things that drive me nuts. Its in the FAQ. On Sauza, I've called...
  21. I sent a number of emails out on spices. A few replies, it may be worth to check again as these were about 6 months ago. Spice Hunter : (quoted reply) " Our spices and spice blends are gluten free. However, some of our box and cup products do contain gluten. These products are made using common processing equipment, which is cleaned thoroughly between...
  22. If your making your own wings, I recommend grilling them. I think they generally turn out better, and less messy. I buy frozen ones I know don't have any gluten based broths. Or pick them up from my local butcher who knows me. Throw them raw onto the grill and cook them to almost done. Throw them in a pot with melted butter and franks. Let them soak for...
  23. I think Franks is owned by French's now, it was owned by Durkee for awhile too. Its been owned by itself a few times too. I've called and Franks is gluten-free. This was a big concern to me originally, as I generally bought Franks by the gallon. I still do, but a gallon now lasts me more than a month. I used to throw big hot wing party's. Not big really...
  24. Cool, New Grist beer, a gluten free beer made by LakeFront Brewery, won the gold in catagory 10, "Expirmental beer". There was 37 total beer entires in cat 10. They took the gold(1st place) For those of you that don't know, GABF(The Great American Beer Festival) is the largest Beer convention in North America, hundreds of brewers come to enter their beers...
  25. My guess was they removed it because of the whole McDonalds thing(fries !=? gluten free). Companies got scared.
