  1. I have the Rival 6cup RC-61 cooker. Bought it for like 15 bucks at Target(in the US) It does a very good job. Never made bad rice yet(when I follow the actual instructions and just don't "wing it", I am really bad that way in the kitchen_ Some info on it.... Open Original Shared Link
  2. Contadina, a Del Monte brand has some, see related faq on the website Open Original Shared Link
  3. I do think it funny when you say "really like our Schwans guy." Because as a kid, we had a cat that hated every single visitor to the house. Hated, meaning, he would attack themin a very mean manner. But. the Schwan's guy, he loved. He would run down the stairs and totally butter the guy up, rubbing and purring. it was the strangest thing.
  4. Last I checked, Contadina Pizza Sauce was gluten-free. Though I swear I found that on their website. Open Original Shared Link Its not there anymore, so I may give them a call/email. Let you know what I find out. Later edit, ahh Del-Monte's site, parent company has the info Open Original Shared Link -grant
  5. Premeir Japan, part of Edward and Sons, has a great gluten-free teriakit sauce. Actually eating some stir fry right now with it. Open Original Shared Link
  6. My only recommmendation, is careful with "overstocking..." I've ended up impulsivly buying "the case" version of things online, and eat one package, and then the other 11 sit there in my pantry. I'm horrible able this, it drives my wife insane. -grant
  7. Eat 1 pound of bacon a day, cook it up and take it with you as snack. Oh wait, we don't want to kill you.... I 2nd the peanuts. I buy a big jar of them, and munch each day while working. Contains a lot of "better" unsat fats.... Though some do have issues with just nuts. I've also found milk + instance breakfasts to be good at keeping my weight up. (also...
  8. gluten-free beers in the US, I've had all 4 of these! Ranked in order of what I liked the best. The Honey Beer from Rampo Valley was good at first, but after a few I started to lose interest. Thought I do love Bards Take and New Grist. Not really a fan of Redbridge. Never really was a fan of those expensive lite beers like Coors and so on(I liked the cheap...
  9. Avatar/Picture history. I was thinking of this a number of times. It would be a cool feature of the software that runs this board, to be able to also store a log/history of your avatars. My memory blows, but when people change their avatars, I keep thinking "what did they used to have... I can't remeber!" Anyone else have this exp?
  10. Black Angus would seem to me to be one of those places that is hit and miss. You can get a good server/chef, or not. I ate their for my Birthday a year back(got a gift card before diagnosed, was diagnosed the day after getting it, and it sat around for a year or so) Anyways, I had good service, I talked to the waiter, and shortly afterwards, a chef from...
  11. Not in directly in Golden, but there is a great Italian place near(kind of...) Never eaten there myself, too lazy to get on the highway(I'm a traffic snob... my commute to work has a car everyonce in a while...) But they have gluten-free menus! 12. When I emailed Kroger directly about individual products, they did reply directly, and also sent me a paper gluten-free list. This was for the Kroger out here in CO, Albertsons. But I contacted Kroger them selves. Might be helpful to try that route.
  13. Text size tip. If your on Windows and want to make your type larger, just for you to see. Hold ctrl key down and go up or down on your mouse wheel. It just increases or decreases the size you see, not the size you are typing. This actually works on lots of things. Linux too I believe. Check it out, it works on most everything. It can be nice, on webpages...
  14. Yeah, I haven't worked there since 1996... Wow... that was more 10 years ago. I knew things were going to go odd when I hit that 30 mark... I do miss food like McD's, it wasn't that good. But when your busy, its so nice to just getting something to make you full. By the way, when you do work there. You can make a great tasting burger, if you...
  15. I know Franks and that line of Bush's beans are good. Most all wings I have ever seen(frozen at least) are gluten-free. As for fresh, Not much bread in the butcher area, so fresh would probably be too. (ask the butcher, they generally like to talk anyways... :>) Where they typical grilled wings? That's a classic spot for cross-contamination. Before...
  16. From my research (calling companies about the products). Generally Natural and Artificial flavorings is gluten-free. But I would never ever trust it. If you look at the FDA description of these two( I did at a library once, not just on Wikipedia) the definition can basically be interpreted as "Contains things to add flavor" For both... at least the still...
  17. I just got a reply from the Spice Islands. The list is the same. But they generally reply quick(less than 12 hours of my question)
  18. I used to love Kinnicks, and a recipe my mom got years ago that she has always used(Dad is Celiac) Until I found a great local bakery. Its in Denver, CO, but you can order online too. They ship frozen, gets kind of spendy. But its really worth trying a loaf. I've found some loaves are not as good as others. Not generally in taste, but some seem much heavier...
  19. I haven't seen this at my Local safeway, the put them above everything else, nice and separate. Probably someone that knows the difference. Though I have heard on this site a number of people who have talked to a store manager, and the manager goes and gets it moved right away. Probably some managers care, some don't. I figure most, if its not crazy busy...
  20. I worked at McDonalds for years, I was also the guy who filtered the vats every morning. It was policy, because of odor/flavor issue. To filter fry vats first(actually this order...) Fry Vats Chicken Nugget?patty vats Filet o Fish Vats The machine is cleaned well, its all stailess steal, other than the big "paper" filter to catch the junk. But yea...
  21. Spice Islands has a good sized gluten free list. I don't see it on there, but its generally a list of the plain spices. Not blends. Thought they are responsive to emails. The last list I got from them, about 1 year ago had the following: Tone
  22. I meant to post this while back found a few nice places. We ended up mostly eating out at more expensive places, that I knew there would be reliable Chef that knows about things. But I had wonderful great server at The Stinking Rose, I used to love eating there when I used to live there. And was happy they were so accomidating. Open Original Shared...
  23. Not sure how Carnival is, but, I took a cruise on Royal Carribian awhile back, my party, we ate in the formal dining lounge each night, so we had the same waiter and head waiter every night. I had to explain once, and they knew each time. They really had an excellent chef who they passed the info on to. He actually came out to talk to me after the 3rd...
  24. Cool, thanks much. I totally forgot about hearing the Old Spaghetti Factory has gluten-free pasta. That will definatly be a stop I'd like. I used to eat at the one downtown San Jose all the time.
  25. Ok, so I am asking a question that has been asked I million times. I've seen them. But I've put off organizing too long. I am 4 days away from a trip to San Francisco(my delayed Honeymoon actually). I used to live there, so I know the layout very well. Just wondering what good restaurants there are. I will be mostly in San Fran, San Jose, and Santa...
