FYI, owned the same as Carraba's also had gluten-free "Shrimp on the barbie" Some thing, basically no toast to be gluten-free. I like it more that Carrba's, generally as I am a meat and potatoes boy. A big pork chop and baked potatoe is what I want. My poor wife is the one that has to deal with me(and yes, had to deal with me before I was gluten aware...

grantschoep posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So I hate to ask but has anyone else done this? Basically I have been good and clear of gluten for about a year now. And then the other day I just odrered a bucket of KFC.. and about 1 hour later I order a regular pizza. What the heck was I doing??? I'm "mostly" feeling ok, but just wondering if anyone else has done something stupid like this.' -
ARCHIVED Boullion Cubes
grantschoep replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Herbox(made by Hormel) boullion cubes are gluten free. I generally get the vegetable, beef, and chicken. But, I have actually found the vegetable to be the best flavor, even for beef stews and chicken soups. Plus the vegetable doesn't have any MSG. -
ARCHIVED What Am I Doing Wrong?
grantschoep replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
One thing I found, was that making loaves of bread never seemed to work that great for me. I would basically make buns, I just got about 20 emtpy tuna cants, the larger ones(like 5'' diameter, ~2.5 deep) And tried a number of my bread recipes in each. They generally held up a lot better, and would bake through. I'd just then slice them all and throw in the... -

grantschoep replied to mandigirl1's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
ACtually, I have an appointment tomorrow with a local gluten free bakery(Open Original Shared Link) here in Denver, CO to get my wedding cake. We're just getting the whole cake gluten free. Seeing as 7 of the ~60 people showing up have celiac. Just not going to tell anyone(other than the celiac's), and see what people think. Most everything I have gotten... -

grantschoep replied to Sweetfudge's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
When its cold out, I often through 6 or 7 or so in the oven. Eat one/two as a baked potatoe, peal the others and throw them in the fridge. Then I love to make some fried potatoes in the frying pan each day for breakfast., light margerine or even a mix of margerine and olive oil makes a great breakfast. Also, potatoes go great in soups. I don't generally... -

grantschoep replied to faegan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That is pretty expensinve. I'm so glad the liquor store down the street carries it. They have a big stack of cases right with all the other beers I used to get. Costs me about 26 bucks including tax for a case. -

grantschoep replied to JASON's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Sitting here drinking a bottle of New Grist myself. their website with contact info is at. Open Original Shared Link Some funny commercials for it too. They also have a pretty good distribution of it. I live in Colorado, and no distributes ever carried any of the gluten free beers. Unlill LakeFront made one, as LakeFront has always had distribution... -
Cool. never even thought of that. Probably won't work for real recent posts, but great idea for older ones. Already found a few questions I had been searching for.

I can't seem to figure out how to do it, is it possible to do boolean searchs(on this message board)? Like and/or/not? The search engine seems to default to those most worthless case of OR.

grantschoep replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I really like the Ortega Nacho Cheese. It comes in 4 small cups. They sent me a list of their gluten free items awhile back. Basically stated that all Ortega products were gluten free. grantschoep replied to SueC's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think Arrowhead Mills is my favorite gluten free pizza crust mix. Keep note however. it is extreamly sticky. I think it is the stickiest pizza mix I have ever tried. I make it in my big mixer, I spray pam all over the whole mixing bowl as well as the beater thing. I then just use "Pam sprayed baggy hands"(Baggies covered in pam on my hands :>) to spread... -

grantschoep replied to HalfBlindJ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I don't know for sure, as I don't have it around here. But Tang is made by Kraft. So they will listen sources of gluten on the label as gluten. -
I generally use Hormel's Herbox Vegetable broth mix, and lots of water to start 4-5 cups worth. Let that cook slow all day. Then right when I get home after its been cooking for 8 hours or so, I add some corn starch(mix into cold water first) and rice flour. I add more flour based on how watery it still is. If it looks like its goign to way to much gravy...

grantschoep posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Holy Crap! I have in my hand, a bottle. The bottle has beer in it. I am drinking it! For a long time, I have heard these stories of people finding a gluten free beer. Much to my shagrin, no distributers here in Colorado ever would carry one... I found out a week ago that a Colorado distributer carries one, Lakefront Brewery. I stopped by the liquor... -
Chipotle is basically your typical fast food type setup. I guess I'd say its a little bit fancier inside. Though, they do have beer and margaritas... But heck, they are owned by McD's after all... I don't know if there is a children's menu, but I see family's eat there all the time. Its typical mexican "fast food style" I'd guess. No, not Taco Bell(thats...
