grantschoep replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What's Chebe? -
Ahh.. I had a pizza this last weekend. Mixed up a box of Arrowhead Mills Gluten Free Rice Flour pizza dough mix, and put Contenda pizza sauce, Hormel Pepperoni, and some mozerella(cheapo stuff) on top. It was so dang good. Although, the crust was a bit of a pain to make. It didn't taste that bad, but I really couldn't kneed the dough, it was EXTREAMLY...

ARCHIVED Gf Cord Dogs?
grantschoep posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ok, so here is one. I woke up last night with an extreame craving for Corn Dogs. I mean, like I was obsessed with it. I had to wake my girlfriend up and tell her I had to find cord dogs I could eat! Anyways, so I am sure most all sold cord dogs have wheat in their bredding. But does anyone know if there are gluten-free ones? Or, anyone have an idea of... -
ARCHIVED Walmart Going Gluten Free
grantschoep replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thats really not surprising. Most cities don't want Walmart's around. I know Walmart has tried most every city around here and gets rejected. Before I heard of the new gluten-free thing at Walmart, I wouldn't ever go to one either. Now, I guess I will head into one at some point. Its just Walmart has such a bad rap, you just feel guilty going into one. -
ARCHIVED Food Questions

Soups, Progresso's "Chicken and Wild Rice" soup is gluten-free. Just got done eating a can of it a few minutes ago. I was really surprised when I found out I had gluten intolerance, to find out that 3 of my favorite canned items were also gluten free. Literally, they were my favorite, as if you looked in my cupboard, it was usually filled with just 3 types... -
ARCHIVED Trouble With Bread Recipe
grantschoep replied to DonnaY's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Well, here is a recipe my Dad gave me, he's been making gluten-free bread for years. He's perfected this one a bit. This one is really for buns. We save tuna cans, and pour the batter in each to make a nice round bun. Use for breakfast toast and hamburgers. I've made this a few times without any problems. Works great. 3 eggs (or 1 egg plus the whites... -
ARCHIVED Nasonex And Oxycontin?
grantschoep replied to JLK's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
One good thing to try, for your medications and prescriptions is talk to your pharmacist. Your pharmacist is your best friend, they know way more about all those medications, even the over the counter kind, than any doctor. They can usually get down to the companies alot easier than you can over the phone. I've been on so many medications this last few... -
ARCHIVED Candy, Now And Laters
grantschoep posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Arghh... was diagnosed about 2 months ago with celiac. I spent a good deal of those 2 months in the hospital due to other illness. But I got home and I found my favorite snack still sitting by my TV. Now and Later's candy. Twice now I got really sick and I think it is in relation to the Now and Later's, I don't have any of the big packaging with them... -

grantschoep posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OK all, just so you don't make the same mistake I did. I was recently in the hospital for a good 2 months or so. While there I was diagnosed with Celiac. I figured I had it, I just needed to be told(most all my dad's side family has it) Well, one of the things was, I was getting very sick everyday, they finally tested me and found I was gluten intolerant... -
ARCHIVED Buffalo Wings
grantschoep replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
OK let me add, I wouldn't trust any bars wings that I don't know how they were made. I just jumped on this post as I am, of course, very religous about hot wings. You also need to be carefull, as some places deep fry the wings, this does add an interesting twist to hot wings, but most places also cook breaded things in those fry'ers. -
ARCHIVED Buffalo Wings
grantschoep replied to jkmunchkin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Other than breaded hot wings, which are of course disgusting. I have never heard of a buffalo sauce/hot sauce combo used in wings having any flour or gluten. I've held parties for years before I was gluten intolerance, and have never made any wings with a sauce that has that. Buffalo wings are one of the fairly simple things you can make your self. I hate... -
ARCHIVED Safe Liquids
grantschoep replied to swittenauer's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You may be even able to "pick some up" at the hospital... :> I was on the clear liquid diet for about 5 days while staying in the hospital last month. They had the little kitchen with lots of wheat loaded foods. However, they did have a wide assortment of Herb-ox broth, chicken, vegetable, beef and so on. All the Herb-ox broth packets, made by Hormel... -
Cool, I did like their hottest salsa, drat. Oh well. It still is pretty cool I can eat the rest. I know where I am going for Lunch tomorrow! I'll miss my tortilla though... -grant

What is all gluten free at Chipotle, I was diagnosed with celiac about 2 months ago and now am really craving burrito's again. I know people have listed Chipotle as a place that we should be able to eat at. I was wondering what all is gluten free? Assuming all the tortillas are out, are all their meat/salsa's gluten free? I love the steak/carne asada...

ARCHIVED Swanson's Chicken Broth
grantschoep replied to BamBam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
That's really funny, in that almost the same thing happened here. I looked it up, saw the ingredient my self on the box plus the website listing, and was happy. A bit later the nurse came in and said, "no, your were right! you can't eat it!" She found the ingredient listing as well and saw the glutemate and thought that was gluten. I had the same reaction... -
ARCHIVED New Gf Cookies
grantschoep replied to T-Crews's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Mmmm, coookies, I never really at them until I was diagnosed with celiac. I've found what I think are some of the best cookies ever, yes even with non gluten-free cookies. These things are great, no almonds either. They are from Wild Oats though(its a orgranic/health grocery store) If you have Wild Oats in your area you got to try them. I am eating... -
ARCHIVED Swanson's Chicken Broth

I just had to add to this. this suprised me as well. I was(ok still am...) in the hospital recently and got put on a clear fliuds diet only. Arg!! and even worse restriction than gluten-free, ok it was better cause before that I was on a water only diet and was being fed via IV. Anyways, back to the clear foods diet. The kitchen here is supposed to... -

grantschoep replied to grantschoep's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yeah, ,I found it on a few lists too, however I didn't see the %50 percent spread listed, the one place I looked at had the other percentages. Well, its not making me feel sick, so I'll stick with it. I must have it on my baged potatoes, still not lots of things I get to pick from the list of foods here at the hospital. -

Hey all, I'm slowly recovering in the hospital after some heart surgery, doing much better now with that. Feeling better each day. After being diagnosed a few weeks back, and getting advice from others and my father who is gluten intolerant. I do get conflicting views of what is good or bad. One of the ingriediants my Dad had mentioned to stay away from seems to be in LOTS and LOTS of things, especially candy. He had said he remeber that Red #40, and Yellow #5 both could contain gluten... -
