  2. Dextrose is fine. Yep, is just another name for glucose, which is sugar. Open Original Shared Link Dextrin, not sure about that. Definition... Open Original Shared Link See the gluten-free safe and forbidden lists. https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=12
  3. Oh, about the velveeta, I make it in the crock pot too. To make it extra good, I usually like to buy a couple fresh habenero's cut them in half, and let the "cook" into the velveeta. Though, I made this for a picnic party one summer. I didn't get to talk to everyone about what I puy in there. There were 2 "casulties, people who thought the habenero's were...
  4. I'm not too worried about contaimination from the noodles in the box, the packets are always nicely seeled. Actually, once or twice I have had one with a little "hole" in the pack. I just give that box to my girfiend, who isn't celiac. Oh, she also eats all the pasta noodles that I don't use, so that gets eaten too. I've been told that some places sell...
  5. Yes, write a letter. Don't be angry and make the servers get screwed. Just make a good point that they f'ed it up. I've worked in the waitressing field... basically you have crappy days. You sometimes don't know what the hell the customer is talking about(and you make fun of them) but... you do want to make them happy, and satisfied. Why? Tip anyone? A...
  6. Note, when I say Kraft's powder cheese, I mean the powder cheese from Kraft Cheese and Macaroni, the regular kind.
  7. Note, if you crave Mac and Cheese, especially the good kind(made with powder) ... :> Kraft's powder cheese is gluten-free. Its alot easier than velveeta or other cheeses. My simple butt thinks it tastes better too.
  8. Cover your a&* I think anyways...hehehe it makes sense
  9. Definatly make sure you get the ones off the list. Delime makes them out of wheat tortillas and corn tortillas. So you need to make sure you get the corn ones.
  10. If its itching and a rash/hives, you could try taking some Benadryl for it. I have another problem that causes me to break out pretty heavy into hives. I know both Walgreens and Safeway brand generic Benedryl caplets are gluten-free.
  11. Yes, we sometimes all do stupid accidents.... yesterday I was sitting watching TV, my girfriend had been eating some regular old wheat crackers, and left the package on the coffee table. Without really even glancing at the package, I reached over, grabbed one and put it in my mouth.... what a moron. Luckly the sudden "good" taste in my mouth made me realize...
  12. Ach.... I meant to say it is sticky'er, not sticker. Oh, I also lied. I don't have one box of the mix, I have about 10... :> hey... it was on sale last week...
  13. If you don't mind cooking it yourself. I've found the Arrowhead Mills pizza mix fairly decent. Its sticker then hell. So Ignore the directions about kneeding it. I make it once or more a week. I just throw it in my mixer, let it do the kneeding(Spray Pam on the mixer thing... to keep it from sticking, also in the mixing pot). The I just throw it out onto...
  14. For those of us who are fond of the "off brands" I know that the Safeway select and Shasta soda's are gluten-free. I wish I would have know about the shasta gluten-free status when I was in the hospital last time. I gave up the "free cupboard of soda" and had someone alwas go buy me Coke or something.
  15. Ah, great article on gluten-free restaraunts. AP article, hopefully this link works, its rather long... Open Original Shared Link
  16. Oh, dehyed onions, I'm calling them that back from my McD days. Usually in the store they list them as Minced Onions, they are in the spice area. Dry Mustard, spice area too. I always get the Spice Islands brands. The mustard and the minced onions are on the Durkee/Tone's/Spice Islands Gluten free list too. They emailed me a copy of it awhile back.
  17. Here's a great sloppy joe recipe. I think anyhow... my old roomates liked it too. Said it was the best they had ever eaten! But then I think they grew up with Manwich sloppy joes, which is mighty gross if if you ask me.... anyways 1 lb ground beef(I use 93 percent lean) 1.5 tsp lemon juice 2 tsp vinegar 1.5 T water 2/3 cup ketchup 1 T brown sugar...
  18. Delimex is brand under Heinz. Here in CO, the Safeway carries them. I also know they are at Sam's Club and Costco here. There in the frozen foods section. Can't remeber exactly where.
  19. If your lazy like I am, I still do like prepared/canned foods. Fortunatly, some of my favorites are gluten-free. To save on cost, I usually wait until Safeway is doing the 10 for 10 deals or something, one dollar a can. So what are my canned goods. Hormel Chili is gluten-free Dinty Moore beef stew is gluten-free Some Progresso soups are gluten-free...
  20. For pizza mixes, if you don't want to mix the flours and all, I've found the Arrowhead Mills Pizza Crust Mix to be very good. I ignore the instructions that talks about kneeding it and working it out on the table, the stuff is just too dang sticky to do that. I just throw it in my mixer and let it work the dough for 10 minutes and then let it sit for about...
  21. Good. I got confirmed. Both chicken(marinated) and dark chicken are gluten-free. Their Curry sauce, and Nikko dressing are gluten-free. Also, they have gluten-free soy sauce behind the counter. Its the silver San-J bottle stuff. Good, that's what I buy at home! So I didn't get cc'ed. Felt great. Actaully the person who took my order knew what celiac desease...
  22. Oh this is cool. For those in Colorado anyways. Tokyo Joe's just sent me an email. Here it is... " Here is some gluten info for you: The sauces currently that have NO Gluten are our Curry Sauce and our Nikko dressing for Salads. Coming soon is a Gluten-Free version of our Teriyaki Sauce and Miso Dressing, which are our most popular choices. Plus we...
  23. I didn't see it on any lists I have, but, doing a search on "poupon" seems to have a number of people saying it is gluten-free. Also, it made by Kraft, so it will list a gluten source... Open Original Shared Link
  24. Arg.. ok, so I cannot find the mi-del "oreo" like cookies here at all. Cruddy. I went to 4 different grocery store chains here, all 4 of them carry pretty much every Mi-Del cookie, except the Oreo like ones. Well, I guess I will order some online...
  25. No... don't do that. Take your medication like a good boy or girl. Of course, ask your pharmacist if its Gluten Free. Medications, such as an anti-inflammitory don't mask problems, they help you heal. Healing is important. Medications heal. Anyways. That aside. gluten-free can be hard or easy to do depending on what you eat. I just gave up for awhile and...
