ARCHIVED Kellogs Fruit Snacks
JustNana replied to stephharjo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, the law says they must say "wheat" or "gluten" even if the label says "modified food starch" you will see "wheat" in parenthesis. But if gluten isn't part of the product and only shares some manufacturing space with products which do...the labeling warning of cross contamination is voluntarily. Congrats on learning so much so quickly. I am... -

Kaki, I can't speak specifically from experience of WW and Celiac, but I have done WW before I had (or knew) celiac and was thinking of returning. There are no specific foods either required or forbidden by WW's terrific point system. You will find it very flexible and I'd encourage you to try it. Best of luck. Also, I'm thinking my hypothyroidism... -

I was amazed to har that DH can be on your fingers. I remember reading that it's on the trunk and butt. My worst itching is fingers, forearms, even palms. Also tos of feet, shins and scalp. Also butt. :-) I'm starting to think I am getting cc'd or not being as fussy as necessary. My intestinal troubles are almost all gone, but the DH, fatigue and joint... -
ARCHIVED The Importance Of Vitamins
JustNana replied to JustNana's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks all for your input. My Dr has me on a potent B Complex, additional B12 sublingual, D3, Calcium, Magnesium, zinc, folic acid and C. He says I am low in just what he would suspect in someone whose had malabsoption for a long time. I am grateful he is as knowledgeable as he is. He is a GP working til 9:00 or 10:00 six days a week, much of it pro... -
nmc I am so sorry for your pain as a parent and your son's terrible time with a good diagnosis and treatment. I live very near Modesto and am lucky enough to have a GP in our tiny town who recognized my symptoms and tested me for Celiac. Unfortunately by the time that happened I have sustained some very serious deficiencies, Hashimoto's and the Dermatitis...

ARCHIVED According To Recent Data, Gluten-Free Doesn't Seem To Be Enough
JustNana replied to Gfresh404's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Skylark I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's last month. Would you mind sharing your labs? I don't know anyone else with autoimmune hypothyroidism. My TSH was just under 6. FT4 was low normal. FT3 was extremely low. .93 with range of 2.4-5.2. Are you taking any T3 or just T4? I am so glad I found all of you. -

Mushroom Picked up some digestive enzymes and some super duper Probiotics with a gazillion critters. :-) I have not been buying much in the way of gluten-free specialty foods except some pasta, an occasional slice of Udis multi-grain and some Crunchmasters crackers. I will stay open about the possibility of other allergies though. I have learned on the... -
ARCHIVED Newly Diagnosed And Mourning The Loss Of Diet!
JustNana replied to Cujy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wendy, I had mild lactose intolerance and after just 7 weeks gluten-free I seem to be able to tolerate cream in my coffee and cultured dairy like yogurt and buttermilk. I won't be chugging a big old glass of lowfat milk soon, but I am happy. Hope you find lactose a friend in the near future. Linda -
My two cents worth. ( sheesh I seem to have posted a gazillion times today. I think it's therapeutic. I agree with the need to have thyroid test. TSH is next to useless unless it's part of a picture. You need FT3 and FT4 as well. Hypothyroidism will kick your butt and totally keep you from losing weight. I also think even the term "adrenal fatigue...

Angela, My labs show a raised creatinine and one other thing that shows some kidney damage. I'll have to go look. I have no symptoms and am trying to learn how to protect them from further harm. Anyone know which foods, supplements, etc are good for kidneys? I am also goi g to ask for adrenal function test. Those little glands live on top of kidneys... -
Gilly and Wendy, You two can really help each other!! We are sooo lucky to have this place. Wendy, I k ow exactly how you feel having another diagnosis. It happened to me too. I forgot to mention than I have had problems with dairy for a long time, but not bad enough to stop as it doesn't seem to cause damage like gluten. After 6 weeks of being gluten...

Oh Wendy, your story breaks my heart. I am 63. (64 tomorrow haha) and my son was going through a terrible divorce with a 3 year old daughter about 2 years ago. He took it so hard when he learned she was cheating and wound up with migraines and bad depression. He's my baby (though he's 37) and I was a mess. I believe that was my trigger. I have been on Wellbutrin...

OMG I've been a Celiac for 7 weeks and am literally drop-jawed. I was about to ask my Dr for a Dietitian referral. LOL. I'll save my time and money and just keep coming here. My daughter was telling a friend of her at work about my diagnosis. The friend said something about it being a wheat allergy. My daughter ( who has I independly researched... -
Skylark First, thank you for being here, for being you!! I didn't know that rice and lentils made a complete protein, or didn't think, but I knew the Mexicans thrived on beans, rice and corn. Is there a recipe thread here?
-
ILoveToTravel, Oh my! You have re-inspired me. I LOVE to cook and eat and feed people. I would love some gluten-free recipes. Or what I call "great recipes that happen to have no gluten." I wouldn't bother with a lot of gluten-free substitute foods as there is so much we can eat. I actually wept the day after my diagnosis when I looked at my collection...

I'm sure the topic of vitamin and mineral supplements is covered somewhere but I am just learning how to navigate the threads. Please share or point me to other sections.
