  2. Depends on who you ask. I haven't been diagnosed as having celiac, though I have the gene for it. As well as having tested postitive for gluten intolerance via Enterolab. I also have Microscopic Colitis (Lymphocytic Colitis) which from everything I've read reads to me to be Celiac, but in a different part of the intestines. So I have an autoimmune reaction...
  3. I agree, in fact since I've cut out wheat/gluten and have been watching what I eat I've found I eat more fiber and get more nutrients from my food. I've found fitday to be one of the biggest helps. Here are a few other sites I found helpful: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link HTH Mike
  4. Actually 1 downside might be that if you cut out gluten you might also end up cutting out the vitamins that are added (fortified) to most breads and wheat products. So you need to make sure that you still get plent of those vitamins in your regular diet. This goes the same for dairy and some other products that are fortified for one reason or another...
  5. Right, seems strange that they won't test for it. Hell it's genetic isn't it. So there is the potential that they could have this particular gene even if they didn't decend from N European.
  6. I made a similar mistake with the cereal I was eating. I was watching my gluten so much and even made sure the cereal was ok, it said wheat free. I noticed I was starting to get sick again, then one day I read the ingredients on the package and noticed it contained oats. Ack! Cut that back out and started feeling better again.
  7. I could have sworn that there was going to be an update later (not sure how long) that would also include those items as alergens, but now I'm not so sure. Would make much more sense to have them listed from the get go. Anyone know anything more? I've searched and find it difficult to find out exactly what was signed into law. Thanks, Mike
  8. I'm trying to figure out if Jensen Meat Co. "Beef sirloin and beef patties" I purchased at Sams Club are gluten free. There isn't any real ingredient list on the packaging and the company isn't returning my emails. I had a recent gluten reaction and this appears to be the only remaining culpret. Any ideas? Thanks, Mike PS. I realized that I put...
  9. I didn't read the whole page yet, but you did read this section on his page didn't you? The as defined above doesn't fit either. Also, I see absolutely no references anywhere on his page (I will admit there's not much here either). Where is he getting his information from? I couldn't find anything in my simple searches of PubMed, but I...
  10. Hi new here. I'll start with saying that I have never been diagnosed with celiac disease, but then I have thoughts as to why. But I do have Microscopic Colitis (Lymphocytic) and have gluten intollerance. I found out I was gluten intollerant pretty much by accident, started a diet (Atkins) and noticed that my GI problems started going away. Later...
