I don't do dairy so I don't know how well it works for lactose, but here is the enzyme I take that contains lactase. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED I Am Going Crazy!
mle-ii replied to Chelle15's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Ugg! Really? You mean I've been glutening myself after being glutened? No wonder I feel like crap even when taking it. Is there something similar that works quickly and doesn't contain gluten? -
Glad to hear it's over for you. For me this only happens every once in a while, and seems to be the symtoms I mostly get when I feel ill. Sometimes it's diarhea, but mostly it's like this with soft unformed stools. It used to be D a lot more with this than it is now. I get a very sharp pain that feels like it's about 3 inches below my belly button...

For me, my fructose malabsorption showed up when I started eating more honey in my teas. So try 1 or 2 tablespoons of honey, you can raise or lower the amount to determine your threshold for symptoms. For me my symptoms were lots of gas, cramping, pain and sometimes loose stools. -

Yep, in fact Mythbusters had an episode where they disproved it. I don't eat dairy. Unless some sneaks in. I'll keep better track though. What type of food alergy tests are there and which ones are most accurate? -

LOL Nope, he died consuming pop rocks and soda pop. Yeah, I've kept a pretty good food log, and have brought it down to a few items. But my wife is having a hard time cooking for me and is starting to push back on things that I said I found to affect me. Dairy being the biggest one. I'm pretty picky about what I eat and very careful about avoiding... -

Ok, let's start with what I "know". I know I have Lymphocytic Colitis, I know I have the gene for Celiac as well as Gluten Intolerance, I know that I am gluten intolerant (both via stool [Enterolab] and how I feel), I know that I don't tolerate fructose. And I think that dairy is an issue. Enterolab says that the the proteins in egg, soy and casein... -
I don't regularly see blood visible on or in my stool, but all of the other symptoms fit very well. Thanks for the info, I'll have to talk to my Dr about this. Mike

ARCHIVED Blood Test Positive, Biopsy Negative...what Gives!?

Very interesting reading eh? I read the entire site and was pretty amazed. In fact that site is the older one, here's the newer site: Open Original Shared Link Sorr, back on topic, ekdumas19, the gut most likely healed in that amount of time. I'm guessing that something recently changed to give you new problems. -
I have a current GI, but I'm guessing his knowlege on Gluten Intolerance or celiac disease is pretty limited as I figured it out on my own. Also the Dr should be good about addressing the cause and not just covering the symtoms. Any exist around here? Thanks, Mike

Well, it appears there is a link between celiac and proctitis.

I just learned of these terms yesterday. And it fits exactly with my remaining symptoms. Before going gluten-free I would have painful diarhea more than normal, now along with not eating dairy or too much fructose (malabsorbtion) I seem to have a pretty good grasp on being symptom free except for the Tenesmus/Proctitis symtoms that I have every once in...

I agree, but I'd bet we'll also add casein and soy to that list as well. We'll see.

And guess what I ran across in a recent search of PubMed... Open Original Shared Link See my emphasis below in bold. Hmmmmm... I have Microscopic Colitis (Lymphocytic to be more precise), this was determined during a colonoscopy. The standard blood tests I took found no celiac disease, yet there appears to be a link. Whether gluten is...

Andrew, Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that Allergy wouldn't cause inflamation. But not all inflamation of tissue is caused by allergy. That and an Allergy can be present without inflamation, that is if the allergen isn't present. Finally my point was that the amount of inflamation occuring in someone with an impared immune system might be so small...

Also, peanuts are hard for the digestive system to digest. Perhaps a digestive enzyme might help if your body is having a hard time with it and it's not an intolerance/allergy. -
I'm self diagnosed for fructose malabsorbtion. I was doing a food journal for a while and noticed that I was getting sick even eating the same gluten free and dairy free foods. I couldn't figure it out. Then I ran into so info about this malabsorbtion and lo it turns out that I was consuming more fruits and honey that were high in fructose. My symptoms...

Haven't read the article yet, but most of the things you've found wrong sound true to me. As far as the percentages go, I couldn't believe 20%, though going through pubmed I have seen mention of 1/100 thus 1%. If your immune system were impared there might be no or insignificant amount of inflamation. Thus one might be allergic without inflamation...

You could always get one of those sound activated voice recorders and set it by the bed at night. Or even a recorder that records all night or a large majority of the night. And it's something that you will most likely hear. My wife has it at times, it'll start as a snore, the it sounds like the air flow is being more and more restricted and then she...

ARCHIVED Totilla Chips
mle-ii replied to BamBam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, Mission Chips are great, no problems here. And Costco sells a huge bag of em. Yum! I thought the Kettle chips were suspect in my glutening, at least now I know better. I was trying Tim's Cascade lightly salted, but I'm not so sure about those either. So what brand of potato chips is the cleanest? No gluten and no cross contamination... -
